Ortega 120Best Mexican Restaurant in LAAfter two years of living in Los Angeles we have finally found a Mexican restaurant that we like! The extensive menu was unique. The food was very good and included homemade tortillas. The 120 refers to one hundred and twenty different tequilas! (We tried one) Best of all was the decor... art art art...fun fun fun!!! The lighting was subdued and they even had Elvis "Fun in Acapulco" playing in one of the rooms. The service was friendly without being overbearing. If you are looking for a fun mexican restaurant with great food, this is it!6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was really unfortunateIt was really unfortunate that they were completely out of Chardonnay, only had Pinot Grigio as a white wine. I mean, how do you run out of a particular white wine on a Tuesday? Otherwise, the food was great! It would have been a "5'.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMDate night at OrtegaService was great and the food was awesome. House margarita is the bomb.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMgood timesfood is tasty, servers are friendly, and ambiance is nice.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMFlamenco Friday at Ortega 129We made our reservation for the two of us for 8pm. We arrived at 8 and were seated immediately.
We requested a table near the flamenco performers, the sat us right next them.
The menu is always excellent and many dishes are ideal for splitting between two people.
All the menu is delicious. Their margaritas are the best! The service was top notch.
The manager and the owner both stopped by to say hello. That was very nice. They are both genuinely nice and friendly people.
We return to Ortega 120 the first Friday of each month to see the flamenco performances. The musicians and dancers are talented and professional. You would have to pay to see this type of performance in downtown Los Angeles, but it's free at Ortega 120.
Yep, we are big fans.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMI've never had a bad experienceI've never had a bad experience at Ortega 120. The food, service, and atmosphere was great, as always! My family's favorite spot for get togethers and special occasions.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMTop Mexican in CA!Ortega 120 is one of my favorite Mexican Restaurants in the world. They take traditional Mexican dishes, and put a very new age, high cuisine spin on it. I feel like they make Mexican as good as you can. We love the Albondigas in Mole, huge meatballs in a very rich mole sauce. We also think their Queso Fondido with Chorizo is out of this world. I also think it is one of the best Carne Asada Burritos I have had. But it really comes down to the best Chili Rellenos you will find! Hands down.
What issues are you going to have, sometimes they miss their cue. The food might sit for a while and come out cold. That happened on this trip, and it was too bad, kind of put a damper on the meal. I have also had great deserts and bad deserts4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways an awesome experience.Always an awesome experience. Great food and outstanding drinks4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMEveryone in the group agreedEveryone in the group agreed that whatever they ordered was the best they have ever had. Brother's tacos were the best ever. Mom's fish was the best ever. My carnitas were to die for. Their margaritas are unmatched. Service was just as wonderful as the food. Definitely give this place a try. I will be coming back for sure, many many times.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome food. This is oneAwesome food. This is one of my favorite restaurants.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMHoly mole ribs!!!I finally stepped out of my box &!enjoyed fully those St. Louis mole ribs. WOW!! Very moist & flavorful! My cousin had the enchiladas Rojas with rib meat, and she swooned over it! She's from Arizona, and said she will most def return with her family. Our server Carlos was very fun, I had never seen him before, since imma frequent diner here. I always keep returning here because it's a very vibrant & fun place to dine.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Mexican everThe best Mexican food I've ever had. But the big hit was the amazing margaritas. Be careful, they go down so smooth, you don't realize there's alcohol. Highly recommend this restaurant.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMLocal Favorite for unique MexicanThe food is always amazing here! I had the short ribs and with fresh tortillas, wonderful!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth a visitNot your typical So Cal tex mex spot. This is a place worth seeking out if for nothing else but their tequila list that boasts of 120 offerings!. In addition to that they have a menu with a variety of interesting slightly upscale items such as barrio tacos, several salsas, etc. The environment is eclectic and somewhat celebretory with displays honoring the dead scattered around, large format tables to the rear of hte restaurant and a wall screen projection adding an interesting video touch to the dining room (during our dinner we were watching old Elvis movies). The sound level is moderately loud and the environment is active with a dining room that also contains a fairly busy bar so be forewarned.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a great evening! OurHad a great evening! Our server Carlos suggested the Brussel sprouts to compliment our appetizers. I would have never ordered that. I have to say, they were delicious! Thank you Carlos! You made our evening terrific. Great time, great place, great food and great service3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMAs usual the food was excellent,As usual the food was excellent, service was good and the only real complaint which really wasn't that bad was we were seated in one of the noisest spots so it was hard to have a conversation with each other but our overall experience was awesome.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat again! This was our second time at Ortega 120, and brought another couple for their first time.
Great again ...
- Guacamole - EXCELLENT!
- House Margaritas ... EXCELLENT!
- Mole Pollo ... EXCELLENT!
- Carne Asada ... EXCELLENT
- Mole Ribs ... Outstanding!
We ate in the front room, which is usually a quieter area. Unfortunately this night there were some people who had obviously been out all day partying for St Patricks day and the alcohol had affected their hearing (were screaming to each other across the table)3/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
