  • "Our server Chantelle guided us expertly for a wonderful meal while visiting from Seattle. She recommended the Ortanique Mojito Royale, not actually on the inventive cocktail menu. With Atlantico rum and topped with champagne made me say that I'll never be able to order a Mojito again because none will ever taste as good! After tasty conch and corn fritters, the Jerked Double Pork Chop was a substantial and delicious house specialty. The Pan Roasted Caribbean Red Snapper was also expertly prepared. Chantelle arranged a dessert sampler in order to try her personal favorite Chocolate Mousse Cake in addition to the Cinnamon Atlantico Rum Cake and Ortanique Tres Leches served with Chantilly cream, mango coulis and fresh mango-- all divine!"

  • "We had lunch at Ortanique. They have an excellent cocktail list. I had The Duchess of Bombay with gin, Earl Grey and thyme. My dining companions had the Tyku Dragon Cloud, about which they raved. We split their ceviche, which was good but not outstanding. I had their Norma's Terrace salad with plaintain chips and hearts of palm, which was overdressed and uninspired. My entree was Jerk Pork Chop. While lacking in the typical Jerk heat, was perfectly cooked and had a flavorful (albeit a bit sweet) sauce. Deserts were highlights. We split their coffee creme brulee, chocolate pudding and sticky toffee pudding."

  • "One of the best meals that I have ever eaten! I would highly recommend the ceviche for an appetizer. It was simply perfect. (It is a small portion, but a perfect starter for 2.) We also ordered the salmon and striped bass. The striped bass was to die for!"

  • "No doubt the food was good. Ceviche starters were great and the Pork chops excellent if rather large! Curious up-selling technique by the waiter. The wine list starting price point is $40 with the Ortanique house Pinot. The waiter tried hard to get me to choose a more expensive one by bringing me a sample of a Californian Pinot. Certainly no better so I stuck with the House. He didn't smile much after that. Still we enjoyed our dinner and the House wine. Great place for after theatre. We sat down at 1030 pm and didn't finish till nearly 1 am and no-one complained. Very nice."

  • "The bar is well stocked and manned by knowledgeable and generous staff. The waiter was pleasant and professional. The room has a nice vibe. Now, the bad: they do not provide sufficient portions to feed an adult human. I have been on a reducing plan and become accustomed to smaller portions. But these were insultingly small. Mussel app contained maybe 12 midsizers, for 19 bucks. Seriously, and that was the large order. Compared to the entrees, that was decadent. The largest was a whole 4 slices of quality tuna, maybe 3 ounces, and a scoop of mashed potato. Nothing else but air on the plate. The escabeche special was a modest chunk of fishy fish over a palmful of steamed veg. Dinner for those who already ate. But at least it's expensive!"

  • "With Ortanique, you are always assured of a consistent, quality meal with top notch service. From appetizers, entrees.. right down to dessert. The only con is there are very few choices without hot spices. In a town such as Miami, it would be great to have more choices that were not spicy. We love to taste the flavors not the heat....and Ortanique knows how to truly season food ...they do not need to add any spice!"

Service was friendly and efficient; a great lunch spot for entertaining out of town guests for some local flavor during a lunch hour. Metered parking is limited; come early and avoid the rush."

  • "Very tasty, although based on the description was not what we expected. The short rib and conch & corn fritter appetizers were delicious and fried/cooked perfectly, loved the port wine sauce on the short rib. The pork chops were excellent and flavorful, calling them jerked was out of place as it does not have the slightest hint of jerk seasoning. My one disappointment was in the flat iron and New York steaks which were tender but came out from the kitchen cold. There was also nothing special about the yellow rice served with the swordfish. The desserts were okay, creme brulee was creme brulee, but the bread pudding was not a bread pudding, good, but with another name it would be excellent."

  • "Every time I'm in Miami and need to host people for dinner, I choose Ortanique. It's cozy. It's pricey. It's spectacular. The service is always top-notch without being stuffy. The menu is superb - I always have trouble deciding on what to have, and I'm always delighted with my choice. The sommelier is super - a fun guy with a great wine knowledge - another great example of what is wonderful service, but you still feel relaxed. Among my favorites: the calamari salad starter, the bouillabaisse, the mahi-mahi. Another simple plus - there's a municipal parking lot one block away, so even on a busy night, you don't have to fight for a street spot on the Miracle Mile. Can't wait until I go again!"

  • "Ortanique is a delicious combination of Latin and International flavors combined with excellent service. We had the brie salad to start which was perfect, and the snapper and mahi mahi entrees. Both were yummy and flavorful. The dishes were perfectly paired with white wines recommended by the waiter/sommelier. To seal the perfect dinner we had the tres leches with mango slices/coulis. Wonderful ambience and service. Highly recommend for a dinner date or group."

The cheese plate is schemed for attention but there's no more than three tablespoons of mediocre cheese and triple that in everything else. The fish Special was " special" in the sense that it was totally inedible... unevenly cooked, cold and so salty it tasted more like "provision fish" than pompano. A horrific end to a special day planned around dining there.With all the choices in the area someone there needs to let Chef Cindy in on the reality."

  • "The food is always a treat - start with the calamari salad or Jerk Rubbed Foie Gras - then try the Pork Chop or the incredible bouillabaisse. The spice is special but never overwhelming - nothing bland about any meal. Make sure you save some room for desert. Ask for a booth or a table on the side. It can get a bit crowded and noisy - or go a bit later when it's not quite as busy."

  • "We were visiting Miami and staying in Coral Gables so wanted something that was easy to get to and offered an interesting and varied menu. Ortanique was fun—we were seated in a gauzy orange-draped area near the bar and the rest of the space had oranges trailing up columns or walls. The menu was diverse. I had porcelet which was tender. Our waiter was a highlight. He helped with the wine, gave us tastes and suggestions until we got what we wanted and also offered pros and cons on different dishes. Service was fine in terms of speed. It was a monday night but the place was packed by the time we left. Overall a unique space, good food with interesting mixes."

  • "We had not dined here in several years, and now we are asking ourselves "why". This was a post concert, late evening meal, so we each ordered two appetizers and no entre. My wife said that her house salad she has ever eaten, which is amazing in and of itself. My mussels were prepared like no other, full of chopped vegetable and an extremely tasty broth with just the right amount of heat. We will return soon."

  • "Surprised my wife with an early valentine dinner at Ortanique. The food here is awesome. No cookie cutter dishes on the menu. Everything we've ever eaten here has been a treat. If you see the filet in the menu, order it! It's a but pricey at $55, but hands down the best filet we've ever had. Appetizers are great and desserts are excellent. The place is always busy, loud and crowded, but still passes as a "romantic" dining experience if you don't mind being two feet from your neighboring table. We certainly don't mind and feel it's part of Ortanique's charm."

  • "How does one's taste buds become tantalized/// Dining at Ortanique on the Mile.. This restaurant is intimate in its decor and has the Island influence tastefully infused. The choices in the beverage selections were varied and beckoning. I highly recommend the Jamaican Sparkler which is a mixture of Double Cross Vodka, Martini Prosecco and Hibiscus Juice ..the latter known as sorrel in Jamaica. The menu so varied made it challenging to choose, because you want to try one of each. The flavors of the food mouthwatering, tasty and tantalizing! The music, island influenced but soft, allowing you to be able to converse easily with your guest! A wonderful and memorable dining experience, soon to be repeated!"
