Named from a lake in the Piedmont region of Italy, Orta is a modern Italian restaurant located at the intersections of 139 and 53 in Pembroke. We apply Italian culinary philosophy to locally sourced product. Please join us in our dining room that features an open kitchen with a newly constructed pizza oven, or swing by the bar and try our wonderful libations, wines, and craft beer selection. We also offer a private function room that can roughly seat forty people, call or visit our website for details. We are open 7 nights a week.Continued

  • "The food is great here! Nice wine selection. The atmosphere is nice, staff always friendly. We have never had a bad meal or experience here. Try one of the brick oven pizzas as an app, we tried the short rib with gorgonzola cheese - very different loved it, it's plenty big to share. The desserts are terrific, try the mini cheesecakes!"

  • "We go to Orta often. This time we tried a Monday night. Another great dinner. I had the local sole with asparagus risotto...fantastic! The touch of cilantro on the top made the flavors really pop. My guest had the short ribs, which he usually gets and which never disappoints."

  • "We enjoyed the food but found the "buzz" in the restaurant to be unpleasantly loud. We were also a bit surprised that in spite of having made a reservation, we were offered a "high top" in the bar. We asked for a table in the main restaurant and they happily gave us one but my general impression has always been that high tops in the bar are saved for walk-ins (unless someone specifically requests one.)"

  • "Party of 7 of us went as a Post Graduation event. We had my elderly mom and mom in law who were treated like queens! Thanks. Food and service by Joey was perfect. Can't say anything bad about the night. We even forgot a card at the table and by the time we got home, the hostess had called us offering to mail it out. We went back and got it but what a considerate thing to do! I guess there are nice folks left in this world. Everyone commented how well their meal was, especially the short rib with gnocchi. A++ all around. Can't wait to go back! Highly recommend. "

  • "I booked a reservation to celebrate a family event. We were seated as soon as we arrived. The food was excellent. My daughter and I are gluten free. The gluten free gnocchi was wonderful. Great gluten free menu - although I would have liked to have see a GF beer offered like Omission Lager. We ordered a variety of entres from pizza to pasta to tuna - all fantastic. The only downside was that my daughters GF angel hair pasta was not cooked through and we had to send it back. I don't think they traditionally offer gluten free childrens items. We loved the atmosphere and the service was great. We will be going back soon!"

  • "We love Orta. Food is outstanding as is service. Our appetizers arrived in the perfect amount of time. The time between finishing our appetizers and receiving our entrees was WAY too long. Tables around us were also experiencing long waits. We have eaten here quite a few times and this has always been an issue for. We will definitely go back but wish they could improve on the prep time between appetizers and entrees. "

  • "I heard good things about Orta so wanted to give it a try. I was disappointed as was my husband. The meal was okay but we have had much better. Our kids had the brick oven pizza which they loved. I am gluten free and made the reservation specifying that and checked it that way. I ordered mussels for an app and they were served with bread on them. They apologized for this but still. The sole and steak entrees were alright but sort of bland."

  • "Dinner last night was deeply disappointing. First, it took three days and numerous tries to get a response to a reservation request. I finally succeeded with Open Table when it became available. We were shown to a high-top table--for my 90-year-old mother. When I asked for something more suitable, I was told that alcove tables must be requested in advance. The three of us sat in the front, at a table for six, and waited a long time for each segment of service. The "great nighttime specials" advertised in the Mother's Day flyer were nonexistent. When at last our entrees came, mine was incorrect, so I waited again while a pizza was prepared. The food was great. The service was not. No accommodation was made for our inconvenience. "

  • "We had a reservation and were greeted by the friendly owner and seated promptly. We ordered drinks and appetizers which included lobster cakes, eggplant and rice balls - all were excellent. The entrees were also delicious including fresh pasta dishes, yellow fin tuna, and my favorite- short ribs. All had great flavor and were tasty. The venue is tastefully decorated with a view of the open kitchen and wood fired pizza oven. Reservations are recommended and the staff and owners are very welcoming. "

Service was horrendous, waiter seemed like he was some where else and couldn't be bothered. I don't think this is a typical experience for Orta, I am striking it up to a full moon. "

  • "We dined on a busy Saturday night. We were promptly seated and waited on. We split a beet salad that was great. My entree was a pizza and my husband had the veal meatloaf. My pizza was fine but my husband was not enjoying his meal as he said it was much too salty. The waitress came by and asked if everything was ok and my husband said he wasn't enjoying his meal as it was too salty. She asked if she could bring him something else but he declined saying he was pretty full from the salad. She left and came right back with a new veal plate saying the chef didn't season it with any extra salt. We didn't expect a new meal. He need up taking it home for the next day and said it was very good. The waitress was more than gracious. We will go back."

Neither of them had been in a while and were quite taken by the fun atmosphere, delicious food and fun new drink menu. We enjoyed catching up and never felt rushed to move things along."

  • "My husband and I just moved to the south shore and have been searching for our date night spot. We found it with Orta. We made reservations for a Sunday night not sure what kind of a crowd to expect. The dining room was half full when we arrived and we were seated near their cozy brick oven. Our server was pleasant and knowledgeable and suggested some cocktails from their new spring list. They were fantastic! We both ordered appetizers which were yummy. The arancini had a slight lemon flavor and a spicy tomato sauce and the beef carpaccio was the best we ever had. Our entrees were served piping hot and timely, the beef short ribs for him and the yellow-fin tuna for me, both were delicious. Great flavor combinations! Cant wait to go back!"

  • "The staff is always welcoming, friendly, & attentive; and have a way of making you feel like special VIPs. The food is always inventive & unique (The mahi-mahi we had was heavenly!) They also have comfort foods, like pizza & pasta, and their meat loaf is delicious. They now offer charcuterie as an appetizer and it is incredible, and only gets better as they experiment with different offerings. When we went last it had goat cheese rolled in pistachio nuts, duck liver pate, paper thin homemade pickles, onion jam, olives, served with crisps. The charcuterie and a glass of wine would make a perfect light meal. We have other restaurants in the area, but find ourselves coming back to Orta on a regular basis for all the reasons mentioned above."

  • "Went with a group of six. We went on a Saturday night at 7:00, full house, an hour wait if you didn't have a reservation. We were seated late, but the party before was "lingering" at our reserved table. The hostess apologized, but we said not to worry, because we hadn't seen each other in a while and appreciated the extra time to catch up. The hostesses were very friendly. The server was very attentive. Food was fantastic. Raves from all in our party. Our group had everything from swordfish to orecchietta with sausage, to panko-crusto chicken. Everything was well prepared, nicely seasoned, and piping hot. We would return again. This is a great suburban restaurant. They are over the top. No need to travel into the North End."

  • "Disappointed. SImply, Orta crams too many tables into a large storefront. Their kitchen is not staffed to cook their menu in a timely way. The food was good but we waited so long for a simple pasta dish and a pizza that we ended up taking it to go. Our wait person seemed to have forgotten to put in our order on top of it. Orta should reduce the number of tables, train the cooks in an open kitchen to at least look busy and train wait staff to give customers a little TLC."

  • "My husband and I hadn't been to Orta in a while so we decided to go there on a Saturday night. I booked reservations so we wouldn't need to wait. Apparently that is not how reservation booking works at this particular restaurant. Once we arrived, we were not seated until nearly an HOUR after our reservation time! Although our waiter was very pleasant, the food took forever to come out and then when it finally arrived, it wasn't very good. I ordered the tuna dish and found it to be underwhelming. The sauce that came with it seemed like something you'd get at a fast food restaurant and it didn't seem to compliment the tuna. My husband ordered pizza which he did like. I will say that the pizzas there are consistently good."

  • "Celebrated three girlfriends birthdays the other night at Orta. We all loved the stuffed pepper appetizer and risotto cakes. The drinks we're also awesome and our meals we're scrumptious. 2 friends shared a steak dinner sand raved of the generous large portion size and ate every bite. Another had the salmon which was excellent. I turned the lobster cakes appetizer into a meal and they were delicious and plenty. The waitress was very sweet and attentive. had a great evening and will be returning again soon."
