Oro at The Emily Morgan Hotel– a DoubleTree by HiltonMuch better food than the RiverwalkAt the last minute, we needed a place to eat for our group of 13. Impossible to get a reservation on the riverwalk. We ended up finding Oro, right across from the Alamo and a nice stroll to the riverwalk. The horse carriages are across the street so it is a festive view at night. At first we thought we made a mistake b/c there was no one else there, but we were pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious and inventive, and it was much better than all the mediocre food we get every time we eat on the riverwalk. Granted, the riverwalk has much more ambiance but Oro had its own charm. We'd definitely eat here again.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Sunday BrunchWe booked Oro on a whim. It was great value for the price. The anti pasta was Bountiful and flavorful. The grilled asparagus was especially notable. We also enjoyed the sushi with the extremely sharp was wasabi. Demesnes featured a moist roast pork which I thoroughly enjoyed and grilled flank steak which was exquisite. Young breast of chicken was also flavorful although I only had a small piece. The omelette Station did a credible job on the omelettes. Finally the dessert selection was rather limited although I frankly didn't have much room for dessert. Of note was a small piece of Dutch apple pie which had a flaky crust and a slight tart filling.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellentI had been there once before, and my second experience absolutely blew me away. I went with my husband an he was ooh-ing and ahh-ing over the delicious food. The portions were decent, and the prices weren't bad. The only minor issues we faced was the menu; we had been given one for linch and one for dinner rather than two dinner menus. Very minute error. I will definitely be going again!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent attentive service.Excellent attentive service. Our server went above and beyond to make us feel at home! Lovely breakfast!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMOro has a great atmosphere,Oro has a great atmosphere, service, food, and outstanding drinks.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWe booked for a group of 15We booked for a group of 15 and the Oro staff easily accommodated additions to our group without an issue. The Oro was an exceptional find in the city; close to events, close to Riverwalk and of course, the Alamo is across the street. Delightfully lit and decorated horses with carriages glided by while we dined.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGood place for a Breakfast MeetingThe breakfast buffet was what you would expect from any hotel. The eggs were a little cold and tasted different.. But the food was good. The fruit selection was excellent. It's a good place to take clients and have a nice breakfast meeting. The staff was excellent.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMA Lovely Place to DineWe had lunch at the Oro and had such a wonderful experience that we skipped our conference group's last dinner and made reservations there! The food was very good and presented with panache. Our waiter was very attentive without being intrusive. The atmosphere in the ORO is comforting and quiet, with each table not too close to the next. Yet you can look out the windows and see the Alamo! If I go to San Antonio again, it will be my stop for several meals!3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall great experienceAll the food had great flavor. The reindeer was probably our least favorite thing on the menu, but all the fish we ordered was so flavorful and so perfectly cooked. We were seated immediately thanks to the Open Table reservation, even though there was large crowd at the door when we entered. Great service and nice ambiance.2/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
