Orchids at HalekulaniOur Special Night Made BetterMy Wife and I celebrated an anniversary at Orchids. An early start time meant we had an excellent table, with views of the Ocean and the special Aloha music and Hula. Food and service were excellent, and we were also greeted with a "Happy Anniversary" from our wait staff, and seating hostess.
I had indicated on Open Table this was a special night, and they paid attention!
A nice touch was a surprise coconut cake with a special anniversary greeting included.... It was awesome.
The views from Orchids are some of the best - the sunset is viewable in Winter, but as we live in Honolulu, we already knew we would not see it set on the water - that requires a visit in Winter season....6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMVery romantic ambianceThis restaurant scores high in the food, service, and scenic view categories. The food was sophisticated and sublime, just like the views. Its fun to play foodie here. The staff made the experience, along with the the beautifully scenic view. I felt well attended to, but not to the point where I felt checked on too much. They know the menu and it feels like they take a certain amount of pride in being a part of this restaurant. If you're celebrating a special occasion that requires dinner to be run by pro staff, I highly recommend Orchids.
A note: music plays nightly at the adjacent House Without a Key, which shares an open space with Orchids. If you wish to take in the music with dinner, sit on the Diamond Head side for a direct view.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AM21st. Anniversary!I enjoyed the romantic atmosphere. This is our first but not last trip to Hawaii! I am excited about it all!6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMSimply perfectOur dinner was absolutely delicious! The onaga was tender and prepared exquisitely and the beef was also tender and cooked just as requested. Our table was just at the edge of the beach and we could hear the sound of crashing waves and see the pink reflection of the setting sun. Our experience was wonderful and we look forward to our next dinner at Orchids.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is great but it isThe food is great but it is the service view and overall ambiance that are the real stars of this venue.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMa memorable mealGreat experience in both dining and service. Beautifully prepared food and presentation. A wonderful experience from the moment you are greeted! We are returning tonight!6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMA special dinner at OrchidsWe had a table with a spectacular view of the ocean. The service was prompt and efficient. The food was memorable fish entrees and great bread. We enjoyed a splurge night at this relaxing resort. You could even hear some of the entertainment at the House Without a Key next door.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellentI love the relaxed feel of this place. I definitely would return to try more dishes.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed the perfect eveningWe enjoyed the perfect evening at Orchids. As usual, the food was delicious and well-presented, and the service was stellar. Our out-of-town guests marvelled at the lovely ambiance, with a breath-taking view of the sunset, as well as the fireworks show over Royal Hawaiian, an event occurring on that night only. We had the best table, on the lanai but covered, with an unobstructed view of the ocean, sunset, and later that evening, the fireworks. Bravo for making a lasting impression on everyone in our party.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMMust GoI have been going to Orchids at Halekulani for years. From romantic dinners to bring business associates, it is absolutely the best place to go. The cost is moderately high but well worth it. The food is exceptional and the service is superb. I recommend using open table and requesting a Lanai table if available. Allows you to appreciate the ocean and Diamond Head scenery.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was outstanding! All of food was delicious, the view was perfect.
I'd like to come back here when visited Hawaii again.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWoW!Unbievable! My Wife & I Fine Dine often, My Wife's Monchong was fantasic! I had Ono prepared on Kula Pork with a little Thi influence (Spicy, if You requested) with some Green Beans, Wow!! The Chef's Fusion was truly Amazing! One of the best Fine Dinning experiences we have ever been apart of! The staff was fantansic and Do Not Forget the View.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMDining Highlight of our TripOrchids has a jaw-dropping view for dining in Waikiki, the service is outstanding and the food is the best. Orchids is expensive but worth every penny. Take your special one there for a romantic meal, with local-flavor music coming from the bar next door at House With No Key (also a great venue in the same resort).5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMAn excellent meal all aroundWe were seated at a waterside table, and the sunset was beautiful. The waiter was the most professional waiter we have had in a long time. He was able to provide excellent recommendations, and was appropriately attentive. Every single item we ordered was excellent, including 3 different seafood entrees and a lamb special. We tried to go back later in the week, but there were no tables available.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways A Lovely ExperienceThe food, service, ambiance and view were outstanding, as always. The eggs benedict were excellent and so was the coffee.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMA Great Dinner in WaikikiOrchids ... good food, nice ambiance, beautiful music wafting over from House Without a Key, and a full moon rising over Diamond Head. Could anyone fail to have a great dinner there?5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food but....For the price the lobster could have had more veggies! The veal chop seemed to be a great buy and lots of food on the plate! Lobster way to small for $60!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMAnniversay Dinner at OrchidsAlways attempt to spend our Anniversary Dinner at Orchids as we have done for many years now. We have never been disappointed and love this restaurant. Our favorite in Waikiki where we vacation this time every year.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMromantic restaurantVery good view, excellent services. The food is good but the menu is short, there are not a lot of variety.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe celebrated Mother's DayWe celebrated Mother's Day a week late by going to Sunday brunch. It was wonderful as always. Our 7 month old baby was welcome to dine with us.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMFavorite Dining in WaikikiBeautiful views, ambiance with unique flavorful cuisine.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMAn Awesome RestaurantOrchids was very good. The food was excellent as well as their service. I would recommend this restaurant. Definitely will be back to try their Sunday Brunch.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMBreakfastA lovely spot for a la carte breakfast (midweek) - not a busy extravaganza like Sunday buffet brunch - just a beautiful setting, exceptionally good service in a white linen, spacious setting, and excellent food. Just about every table inside and out has views of Diamond Head in addition to the water, given the full floor-ceiling sliding doors that are fully open. No need to get the outer-most row of tables on the covered lanai. In fact the outermost ring of elevated interior tables have slightly better views and are more peaceful. No hustle and bustle - just nice adult-oriented setting. You can see on the other side of the lawn the more child-friendly (relative) madhouse of a scene at the daily buffet in the House Without A Key.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful AmbianceWe've been dining at "Orchids" at the Halekulani Hotel for many, many years, and it never disappoints! We request (and, usually, get) a table outside on the lanai, within steps of the beautiful Pacific Ocean. The food and service are consistently excellent. And, it's hard to beat the view of Diamond Head!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent DiningAs always, making a reservation is easy. The food was phenomenal, as was the service, location and atmosphere!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMDinner to RememberAmazing view and top notch dinner. Thanks to Orchids for our best dinner on Oahu.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMparadise in OahuThis was a wonderful meal, and quite romantic. Service was impeccable. We dined out 5 nights, and Orchids was in our top 3 of best places. We would definitely go back. Only complaint was that the martini was substandard and not chilled enough.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMBreakfast at Halekulani'sBreakfast at Halekulani's Orchid Restaurant is always a wonderful experience. One must try the "localized" breakfast items on the menu. Plus order the famous popovers with butter and poha jam.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMEveryone from the valets toEveryone from the valets to the servers and bus boys called me by my name. Very impressive.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMRomantic Evening At OrchidsWanted to give my fiance a romantic Hawaiian dinner experience and chose Orchids. As you will be able to tell by my ratings it provided all that and more. The grounds of the hotel as you walk through is fabulous and the ambiance at Orchids just as beautiful. The service was great and i wish I could remember the waiters name who was perfect - not intrusive, yet there when we needed him. We enjoyed the food, the wine and the desert while listening to the gentle crash of the ocean waves.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was much better than 2years ago. Before I went to the Orkids , It was not great. But this time it has changed better than before. So good!4/30/2013 12:00:00 AM(Gentlemen, Wear Trousers!)A more formal restaurant located in the Halekulani Hotel. I was politely asked to don loaner trousers since I was wearing dress shorts. (Dress code not stated on the Open Table page but was stated on the Orchids web site.) Food was certainly good, but not extraordinary. The views were good as well, but no better than many other places in the area. The bill was pretty hefty ($550 for 5) but not outrageous considering the venue. I had the Orchids Salad which was fresh but the dressing was a touch peppery. The signature Onaga “Orchids Style” was well prepared and enjoyable. I tried the Grilled Pineapple with chile ice cream - did not impress. A good place for a formal dinner; but there are better values to be had in Waikiki.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWorthy of your best dinner outIt was my second visit but my wife's 1st to this hotel's dining experience. Our group of 4 arrived at 5:30pm in time for the evening entertainment outside the House Without A Key. With great cocktails (Mai Tai's) and soaking in the last rays of sun spraying across beautiful Waikiki beach, along with the Hawaiian music and dancing, we knew it would be a night to remember. Attention to detail from the staff to the overall appearance is why I give Orchids a 5 STAR rating.
TIP - A must dessert - the Halekulani’s Signature Coconut Cake. All four of us agreed - the VERY BEST coconut cake.
The girls can dress to impress here and if you're in the company of elite - it's the place to meet and eat. Mahalo!4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food/Service..Watch Ur CheckEveryone was very polite. The service was excellent along with the food. I had only one problem. I paid the bill using my debit card and later when I checked my account balance I had noticed the money charged against my account was not what was written on the check. An additional 5% was added on. I left a $30 tip on a $165 lunch. An additioanl $11.62 was charged against my account.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWe've enjoyed Orchids breakfastWe've enjoyed Orchids breakfast in last morning.

My fish preparation was delicious !!!!4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMBeauty and the FeastA memorable meal! We started by sharing the Ahi Crudo. Crudo is Italian for raw. The raw Ahi was prepared with horseradish and Daikon and dressed the Saki-Lemon. Next we shared the Orchids salad, greens and fruit dressed with pomegranate vinaigrette. What a burst of flavors! Our entrée was the Island Seafood for two. It consisted of a lobster, Onaga and shrimp steamed with lime leaves. It was accompanied by Aioli: Symbol, Samron Garlic and Miso. We completed our meal with an array of tasty sorbets. The wine list is extensive. We selected a Chardonnay to complement our meal. The service was outstanding. Our server was helpful and vigilant. All of this with the ocean right in front of you. The sky was magnificent at sunset. Oh yes,4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMVariety of food was excellent.Variety of food was excellent. Comfortable seating. Attentive service. Very, very nice.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThe staff is consistentlyThe staff is consistently excellent...from car park to host to waiters, etc. Especially the waiters: Genuinely adult and professional, which is rare in Honolulu. Food is fine. Nothing especially memorable, but basically okay. The ambiance, of course, is lovely and memorable. I have lived in Honolulu for more than 30 years and have certain places I take guests depending on the situation. Duc's Bistro in Chinatown for unexpected and friendly warmth, quiet,"local" tastefulness, plus excellent food. Vino in Restaurant Row for creative food and fabulous wine....and, if you ask for it, the best wine advice and service anywhere. And Orchids for lunch: Unbeatable location, professional and friendly service, and casual elegance.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
