Oran Mor BistroBest food in downtown NantucketOur dining experience was excellent, only marred by a loud table joining our room halfway through our meal. Prior to that, the room was quiet and comfortable although small. Our server was prompt, polite, and professional. The food was exceptional. This is a spot for "foodies" not for the price or quantity conscious. We started with the ceviche special, followed by the golden beet and greens salad, entrees of diver sea scallops and Peking duck, and desserts of ginger ice cream and blood orange/grapefruit sorbet. I thought all of the food was exceptional...properly prepared, nice blend of flavors and textures, beautiful presentation. We also had a half bottle of French rose that went perfectly with both of our meals. Great dining!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMwe had a wonderful meal thewe had a wonderful meal the food and the service were fabulous! Our first impression and theirs was very disappointing. The hostess not once smiled or welcomed us in any way. I understand if a place is packed and staff is under pressure. This was not the case. Once seated our waitress saved the evening. She was welcoming and helpful. All of us were pleased with our selections. We will return but the hopefully the hostess will be happy to see us the next time!5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMOran Mor was perfect! On Nantucket for a reunion of old colleagues, I choose Oran Mor for our 'last' dinner based on the raves of a friend. We all loved it - from the ambience, to the food, to the server we had - everyone commented to me afterward and thanked me for the choice. I think I liked this sweet place better than any other dinner we've ever had on Nantucket! I only wish it were on Cape Ann!5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMBest part of our tripThis was our first time to Nantucket so we had to choose a restaurant through internet reviews. Oran Mor was highly rated and we liked the variety on the menu. We weren't disappointed. We had quail and duck. The portions were reasonable size, the food was delicious and beautifully presented. The sommelier recommended a French wine that was terrific. We had their homemade rhubarb sorbet and hazelnut ice cream for dessert. The restaurant has a number of small rooms and we happened to be seated with no one next to us. On the other side of the room, tables for two were more crowded together so where you happen to be seated could make a difference in the experience. For us it was perfect.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food and service wereThe food and service were excellent.
