  • "The food and service at Opus 9 are outstanding. The steak was cooked perfectly and the wine recommendation was exceptional. I liked the fact that we were in a side room which was quiet and contributed to the ambience of a great evening out. If you are looking for the best steak in Williamsburg, more like the entire Hampton Roads area, this is the place. I have eaten at steak houses in New York City and Chicago that were not as good as Opus 9. A true gem! We will definitely be back."

  • "Just not worth it, sorry. The steak wasn't good enough for the price. Additionally, they send it out on the hottest plate and it continues to cook (and burned my hands)."

  • "I was looking for a nice restaurant to celebrate my boyfriends 30th birthday and found a winner with Opus9! From the moment we entered the restaurant the experience was wonderful. Our waiter was exceptional, he recommend a great wine to compliment our dish. The food from appetizer to entree was hands-down the best!!! The ambiance was relaxing with just the right touch of elegance. The music was set at a volume which made it great to enjoy and still enjoy a conversation across the table. At the end of our meal our waiter brought out a complimentary desert with a candle for my boyfriend. Overall it was an excellent night, we will return!!"

  • "My wife and I go to Williamsburg yearly and have seen Opus 9 on the drive to see C.W. Finally we made reservations, but were disappointed. The place was very impressed with itself, and was clearly a local spot to be seen. The prices were high, but we expected that. The noise level was also high, the service started out fine but he disappeared after our main course, however a man in a tux shows up with out introduction asks how our meal was like he couldn't have cared less. I ordered a bottle of pinot noir for around$70 which I found not poor but average, would this be an indication of the rest of the cellar? Sorry but I cannot recommend."

  • "Great food, especially the steaks, I have been here and had steaks for probably a dozen visits and have never been disappointed, regardless of the cut I chose. Many of their starters are so good I would be happy with just having a couple of those in place of an entree. The sides can sometimes be hit and miss, e.g. sometimes not as hot as they should be. But overall a great setting, and really good service without feeling too stuffy. Prices can be high, but it's well worth it if you want a memorable dining experience."

  • "I was there a week ago and had the same $30 steak & lobster special, but this time the server was different and not nearly as attentive as Stasil was last Monday. Onion soup was only Luke warm and the entree meal must have been sitting out a while as the steak and lobster were almost cool. Still tasted ok but I didn't want to mention it when asked. I find their wine by the glass list vacant of nice Italian and French choices. Prices ok but poor selection in my opinion. Generally this is a fine restaurant and I'll go back again."

  • "We went for brunch and were so pleased by the food choices offered. The prime rib was amazing! They have a true brunch spread, consisting of breakfast and lunch items. The desserts looked homemade. I would highly recommend this restaurant! The service was outstanding."

  • "this visit was less than satisfactory..paid $60+ for steak and lobster lobster tail; had to send lobster back as it was grossly over cooked and the replacement was some better, but not much. Steak was OK but no was really good. Server Brandon was good."

  • "We have been to Opus 9 many times over the past six years. This past Saturday might have been the best. Opus 9 is one of our two favorite spots in Williamsburg."

  • "The service was very good, the food very good and the overall experience very good as well."

  • "My wife and I ate at Opus 9 for lunch on our anniversary. The service was amazing, and the food was so good. The artisan cheese tray for dessert was perfect."

  • "We had a small room with a fireplace that was actually quiet - hard to find these days. Agreat place to talk. Filet mignon was perfect. The noise rating scale on this app doesn't work - says do not recall no matter what you indicate. Noise level was the best I 've found in Williamsburg."

  • "We were late for a reservation, and they were getting ready to close, but they still served us as if we had been there for the 8 o'clock seating. Bone in filet cooked to perfection… Very hard to find cut of meat. Primo."

  • "Steak was excellent - one of the best I've ever had. Asparagus and broccoli could have used a tad more cooking, but were still very good nonetheless. Bananas Foster cheesecake was delicious. They have an extensive wine list and the Cabernet Sauvignon we had was excellent. Service was second to none. It's a very nice venue if you want to enjoy a leisurely dining experience."

  • "In the past, when visiting Opus 9 for lunch, I have frequently enjoyed the steak and carmelized onion sandwich. This time the steak was on the tough side. Otherwise, the lunch provided an outstanding venue to reminisce with an old friend."

  • "Was on holiday in Williamsburg and wanted to find a nice restaurant for my husband's birthday. Found Opus 9 on opentable and made reservations. Opus 9 is at the corner of an outdoor shopping center. The décor is modern, but a classic fell. The food was wonderful, and the wait staff attentive. The best part was having a 3 1/2 year old with us who was catered to as much as we were. The whole experience rivaled those I've had at Donovan's in San Diego. Well done!"

  • "The food (grouper/salmon) was outstanding as was the Crème Brule. We enjoyed the nice ambiance and presentation. The service was good, but the waiter was slightly arrogant/intrusive. It is a toss-up whether to go to Opus 9 or Le Yaca in Williamsburg."

  • "We had an efficient waiter who was there when he was needed and did not interrupt conversations. Food was well prepared and served hot. This was our best experience at the restaurant and will return more frequently."

  • "My husband and I had a special 3 course deal. The dressing was light on the Cesar salad, the way I like it. The potato and onion soup of the day was nicely seasoned. Both of us ordered the New York strip steak, which came out sizzling on our extremely hot plates. They were nicely seasoned and cooked as ordered. The desserts, cheesecake and flourless chocolate cake, were made in house. Steve, our server, was very friendly and attentive."

  • "Opus 9 was such a marvelous experience on our anniversary we may have started a tradition. Attention to detail, service, food & wine were all exceptional. Brandon, our waiter was 'Top Notch'. Opus 9 will continue to be a special place for us, where we will bring our family & friends who appreciate what fine dining should be. Bravo!"

  • "The food was generally very good. However, the mixed vegetables had too much pepper. I couldn't eat them, I choked on the pepper. Also, the air conditioning was too high...it was a damp cold."

  • "We went here for a nice dinner out while on vacation and the experience was exquisite. The food was delicious and the wine list was definitely worth taking a look at. Everything we tried was great and the service was very good, paying attention to detail and ensuring we were taken care of when it came to anything we needed."

  • "What a pleasant surprise to find this caliber of dining by chance. As a last minute decision to have a quiet dinner meal Opus9 delivered beyond our expectation. Everything was awesome. Our waiter was knowlegable, courteous and friendly. The wine variety and selection was superb. The main meal was to die for and the ambience was very pleasant. Very soft music that allowed comfortable conversation at the table amongst our group. We have planned a future trip back to Williamsburg and it will certainly include Opus9."

  • "Great food, friendly and attentive service, wonderful ambience and a beautiful woman to share it all with (you have to provide your own woman). We both had the Steak Au Poivre. The brandy cream sauce was to die for. The New York cheesecake and wine topped it all off. I particularly like restaurants that serve specialty coffees with a combination of various liqueurs. The Jamaican coffee was excellent."

  • "The food, decor, people, and service were AMAZING! I've never had a better steak, not at Emeril's or any other "high end" type of place I've ever eaten at. The prices make this a special occasion only type of restaurant though. For 2 people, we spent about $110 total, not including gratuity. I will be coming back to celebrate my birthday, my college graduation, and any other event I can justify celebrating! This is now my favorite restaurant in this area!!!"

  • "We have dined at Opus 9 many times for lunch or dinner, but this was our first time for Sunday brunch. The food was delicious, well-presented, well-stocked and there were many selections for both breakfast and lunch. I particularly enjoyed the mozzarella and red pepper grits and the fluffy biscuits with country gravy. The service was fabulous, from the quiet attentiveness of our wait person to the chef preparing the waffles and omelets. The piano player added an atmosphere that was delightful."

  • "Opus 9 is a good restaurant but I made my reservations for Sunday Brunch at 1 p.m., this was a big mistake! The food look really picked over. It needed to be refreshed so that each person coming to it felt like they were getting fresh food."

  • "Onion soup TOO salty. We were in the hall by the BR and kitchen entrance We were first to arrive w a reservation at 5pm, felt like victims as far as seating. If of every available seat, you seat a first time customer, we were disappointed. Coffee was luke warm. Tried to send a private note to restaurant, but need this to send."

  • "On vacation, and looking for a special dinner, Opus 9 steakhouse delivered the goods! A really nice interior, a gracious staff and excellent, well prepared steaks and side dishes. Our waitress Julie was charming and efficient and we could only wish that Opus was closer to home instead of in Virginia!"

  • "We enjoyed the service and dood for a first time visit. It was our anniversary and we were able to make reservations last minute, The wine list was massive and the steaks were done perfectly. Our server Ryan made sure that everything was in order so that the dinner went smoothly. The bananas foster was the best I ever had. I loved the automatic piano and jazz music. We will definately be back and we will tell others to come here."

  • "Food was sub-par for a steakhouse - prices are right around what one would pay in a big steakhouse (granted, a bit cheaper than Peter Lugers, but close to pricing of Capital Grille), but the steaks are not steakhouse quality or cut. And the waiter seemed to have no depth of knowledge of steaks, nor did he seem to care. And steaks were not cooked to temperature ordered. Manager was nice but the overall experience would not bring us back."
