We had a wonderful dinner at this
neighborhood gem we happened across. Their menu has many seafood options and everything we ordered was delicious. Staff was very accommodating to our requests for substitutions, etc when ordering! We will definitely be going back."

Food just wasn't as good as it has
been consistently over the years. We got the surf and turf and the sea bass. We considered our appetizer the best part of the meal. Even the dessert was not as good. It was all edible, it just didn't seem to have the same level of quality food as before."
Dined on 8/15/2014
Been dining there and bringing
both international and local visitors frequently. I have never a bad or even ambiguous experience. Ophelia's is a gem in the neighborhood and I am very happy at all times to recommend it."

This was my first visit to
Ophelia's and I have to say that it was well worth it! I will definitely be back - the service was superb, the food was so good I hardly knew what to eat and what to save to take home, the portions were filling - just everything. I adored the décor on the inside and was instantly transported from the cute streets of downtown Independence to a fine dining establishment on par with city's of a much larger scale. I have been recommending the restaurant all day today, and can't wit to return to dine again myself!"

Ophelia's has become our favorite
place for special times. Food is always excellent, service is friendly and helpful, and it's just a fun place to go to!"
Dined on 8/1/2014
Love eating at Ophelia's, but wish
there was more variety in the menu. Outstanding food though and we do love having such a nice restaurant so close in Independence - saves us the drive downtown."
Dined on 7/28/2014
Great food & service - we had the
menu and enjoyed all items served. We will go back again."
Dined on 7/26/2014
scallops were good, but not so the
sauce they put on them; risotto was TOO salty; filet was cooked perfectly; shrimp tempura appetizer was perfection"

Ophelia's has been on our list for
some time. We finally pulled the trigger and made the considerable trip from JoCo to Independence and are glad we did. The place is understatedly nice upon entering. The greeting was genial and welcoming. The service was attentive and friendly. Menu choices were ample and varied. We bath had the soup of the day which was a chicken artichoke number. Our only complaint here was that the veggies could have been trimmed a little more closely. It was not particularly hearty but had wonderful flavor. Our entrees (Grouper and pork medallions) were well prepared and tasty. All in all the experience was very nice. We enthusiastically endorse the place as well worth the trip and worthy of another."

Thanks to the reviews of this
great find, we were happy we followed the comments to Ophelia's. It was excellent."

We were given a gift certificate
to Ophelia's and we were so pleased. Everything was wonderful and was a great date night place to go."
Dined on 6/28/2014
There were 6 in our party and each
ordered a different lunch. Everyone was so happy with their choice. Lovely menu and great food!"
Dined on 6/25/2014
I waited a long time to get to
dine here. It was worth the wait! Everything was beyond my expectations! Food, service, atmosphere - all in an old Katz drug store building!"
Dined on 5/24/2014
Returning to Ophelia's after a
several month absence, we were delighted by the new menu. The food and service was outstanding. We will return, soon."

Independence (MO) has been a
restaurant desert, specializing in hearty, heavy, low-quality dining specifically for children and adults who have never tired of childhood food. Ophelia's stands out for its remarkably flavorful, light, high-quality choices in its brunch. My two friends never take seconds, and both went to the buffet for seconds. Two of us had omelets that were delivered to our table piping hot by the omelet chef. All the food was fresh, well-prepared, and delicious. Ample parking in front and nearby. Ambience: I found the lighting inadequate especially considering the dark walls, floors, and furniture. Also it was quite noisy."

There were four of us for dinner.
It was not busy so we were seated quickly. Had a knowledgable server. They made a special dessert platter for us. The food was very good. Really enjoyed the chicken "then & now"."
Dined on 4/26/2014
We really enjoyed our Easter
brunch last year, so we were quite disappointed this time. The main restaurant is very nice, but we were seated in a dark, tacky banquet room in the back. When we complained, we were told that all larger parties were seated there, which we noticed wasn't true. We had seven people and saw tables larger than that in the main area. We had the reservations for several weeks ahead of time, so it wasn't a matter of a last minute addition. The food was not bad but not amazing, and the server was very nice but appeared overworked. We were overcharged about $30 but didn't notice until later that night. "

My husband and I went to Ophelia's
to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. We had never been there before so thought we would have another "first" together. It turned out to be a great decision. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and food. We started with the Portobello Rangoon Rolls and Ophelia's Salad. Both were great. My husband ordered the Chateaubriand and I the Brick Chicken for our entrees. The food was delectable and we cleaned our plates. I had a side of brussel sprouts and they were delicious. For dessert, we shared a dark chocolate mousse. It was a great finish to our wonderful meal. We look forward to returning to try more of their specialties. "

Ophelia's is consistently good. We
bring out of town guests, have nice romantic evenings, and experience a fine dining experience close to home. This was no different. Food was delicious, drinks were well crafted, but service was slow. Our guest had nothing but great things to say about the restaurant, so impress the guest mission accomplished, but it did take a longer time to dine due to slow service in between appetizer and dinner entrees. We enjoyed the chicken & chorizo dip, the chicken special, & the chateaubriand. Again, the food is good and well worth the price & overall experience, but the only issue was slow service. Friendly service, but slow."
Dined on 4/2/2014
Our server was pleasant and
knowledgable, but it took quite a long time for our food to arrive and my group of four were the only ones dining at the time. Refills of drinks was poor. The food was good when it finally did arrive, but because this was weekday lunch we were all later than we wished to be in returning to our work. Perhaps, they only cater to diners for whom time is no object."

We celebrated our wedding
anniversary with dinner at Ophelia's. The food was superb. Service was timely, friendly, and professional. Live piano music set the stage for a wonderful and romantic meal. Don't wait for an anniversary, go any time!"
Dined on 3/21/2014
This is a wonderful restaurant
with something for everyone, from beef to fish to healthy, calorie correct fare. Everything our party of four ordered was cooked to perfection and really tasty. The service was excellent and prices are reasonable for the quality. A great evening!"

We have had bruch several times.
Friday was a date night and everything was perfect, from the live music to the desert."
Dined on 3/14/2014
Came with friends after long
absence who told us of a new chef. All four meals were lovely. Wish the piano music was live but perhaps it will be next time. Salmon and sea bass perfectly prepared, and service (Molly) delightful. Nice chard, too......"
Dined on 3/13/2014
Waitress was wonderful. The pepper
steak was overly peppered and burnt. Was not impressed with this plate."
Dined on 3/8/2014
My fiance and I went for dinner
the service was exceptional. The food was outstanding! Everything was moist and melted in our mouths. We will most definitely return, time and time again."
Dined on 2/27/2014
I always enjoy dining at Ophelia's
and have never been disappointed."
Dined on 2/25/2014
We dine here often because the
food is fabulous and the ambience is beautiful. What a surprise we received Friday night when Rebecca Grace Taylor began to sing! We would come to Ophelia' s just to hear her. Her piano player is good, too."
Dined on 2/21/2014
Had a very pleasant meal with my
girlfriend on valentine's day. The service was very good albeit a bit busy at times. The food was delicious. I would recommend this place on a special occasion."
Dined on 2/14/2014
We went there on Valentines Day.
Service was great, and the food was wonderful!"
Dined on 2/14/2014
Was very disappointed when we
first arrived. Made our reservation a month ahead of time for Valentines day, got there on time and were sat at the tiniest little table with no elbow room at all that our food and drinks barely fit on. They were busy just as everywhere is on Valentines but we walked past not only a booth but two other tables that they could have sat us at. Our waiter was top notch though. He was very polite and quick with everything. The food was good but I think that it could have been better. Both my husband and my had ordered steaks and they were both a little over cooked. Our appetizer was very good. I would however go here again to give it another chance."
Dined on 2/14/2014
I took a group of ten ladies to
this restaurant, and everyone was able to find something they liked..even the pick vegetarian bride :)"
Dined on 2/8/2014
Our meal at Ophelia's Friday night
was without a doubt the best dining experience we've had in the past year in Kansas City. Our waiter Molly was outstanding and very knowledgeable about the entire menu and specials. Every dish was exceptional, from the Portobello won ton appetizer through an outstanding soup to an well prepared duck confit. The brioche bread pudding was equally outstanding. We'll definitely be going back again soon."
Dined on 2/7/2014
We dined here on a Sat night. It's
fairly close to us & we like the ambiance (live piano player). Our salads were fine-i like the Ophelia's salad dressing. Seafood special wasn't described correctly by our server. It was "corrected" to what my companion thought he was ordering but that didn't dispel the awkwardness. My pork chop entree was fine. The desserts were ok, but i had to remind our server i wanted decaf coffee as she was pouring my cup. Wine list has some interesting glasses/bottles and is reasonably priced. Our server was very pleasant, but there were some missteps with us and we overheard missteps at other tables. The food was ok, but not up to performance in the past. Apart from the piano player, we didn't enjoy it that much."

This was my 5th or 6th visit to
Ophelia!s. The food has always been superb, the wait staff friendly and professional and the ambience is always inviting."
Dined on 1/18/2014
The food here is very good.
Perfect portion size and cooked just the way you'd expect it to be. Can't wait to try other entrees. Was the perfect spot to celebrate a special occasion."
Dined on 1/18/2014
Starting with the kind and helpful
servers and the delicious food it was just a perfect lunch"
Dined on 1/17/2014
The food was very good, with
creative and artistic options to suit any taste."

Great wedge salad & good salmon.
