  • "this place is a total gem...you go in and its total pitch black being served by blind servers....the food is amazing..one of the best meals I have ever had...it puts you in the world of the blind. you eat in the dark, drink in the dark, and learn to maneuver in the dark..truly a one of a kind experience and you would kick yourself if you didn't try it atleast once..personally, i'm an adventurist and would come here every Friday night with friends if I could. god bless the people that work here..lots of courage. very professional and the service is outstanding."

  • "I took my girlfriend here for her birthday and it was amazing. Completely a new way of looking into other people's lives. But don't go starving cause the food portions is small. But it was still amazing."

  • "I had a great experience in terms of dining in the dark. The room was indeed pitch black and it was interesting to try and eat in the darkness. It forced me to truly critically taste the food. The waiter was very nice and helpful. He had a problem with remembering to refill our water though. Overall, I would recommend this place for a different dining experience. As far as dining there frequently.. I wouldn't recommend it. It cost about $100 per person. The food tasted really good, but I wouldn't say the price matched the quality of the food. It definitely was for the experience of losing one sense - sight, which was beneficial in understanding how the other senses contribute to the tasting experience."

  • "This was definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience that exceeded my expectations! Would definitely return and recommend to a friend! Excellent food, service and setting. The dining in the dark experience blew my mind."

  • "This was a unique experience and im sure most would enjoy coming here and experiencing eating in a pitch black environment. The place was really loud the night we came although that could have been due to 2 large groups that where there at the time. I was a little annoyed at people turning on there cell phones in the Dark room and ruining the experience that you pay a lot to experience. In my opinion these people should be escorted out of the Dark room to eat in the waiting room and or Bar out from so they don't ruin the value of anyone else's experience."

  • "I knew going in that Opaque was more about the "experience" than the food. That being said, you can't charge that amount for less than average food. Our server was great, and I appreciate the concept, but there is no justification in the price. You cant see the decor, you cant see the food, you cant see the people you're with. At that point, I just want a good meal. The menu was basic and the food was generic...not impressed."

  • "went here for my birthday, Anthony was really nice and polite to all of us! the only negative thing was that one of the servers kept grabbing my hand and rubbing it against him. overall, this is a great place for a special occasion and I highly recommend you try it"

  • "This was a very neat experience. The dining room is pitch black & you get to enjoy something that you have never done in the past. The ambiance of the entry is a nightclub that is a bit drab before you enter, so you start the whole experience thinking the whole restaurant is a little janky. So, when you enter the dark dining room, you can't help but think it's a little run down inside. The food itself was okay, could be better, especially for the price of the meal. That being said, it is definitely a unique experience and is worth trying."

  • "Dining in the dark was an interesting experience. I give great credit to our server, Raphael, not only for doing a good job but for persevering with a difficult handicap and pursuing education. Unfortunately the food was fair and for $99 per person I expect better taste."

  • "We had a great experience at Opaque. Our food was great and our server was the best. It really gave you the opportunity to challenge your other senses and let your inhibitions go and just relax. It was loud but it was fun, not annoying. It certainly enables you to really appreciate your eyesight and gives you a greater respect for what it's like for people that are visually impaired or blind."

  • "Both my friend and I had researched out dark restaurants and thought we knew what it would be like. We were wrong. Being in total darkness brought a lot more to our attention and created an incredibly fun, creative and educational outing -- we loved it. Many people said the food was "nothing special" -- it was half and half. The Atlantic Salmon was incredible while the Filet Mignon was just "alright", the Kale Salad was delicious. Definitely recommended."

  • "Everyone should try this! Such an interesting experience. Great for a date night with the hubby or friends. I experienced food like I never have before. Our blind (!) waiter Rafael was awesome. Go now! "

  • "Staff is not very professional except the blind waiters. The concept is great but should be turned into an experience not just a dark room dinner. I don't think it was worth the money. Food is below average and you end up paying more then $200 for the meal plus drinks ends up costing $250 ish as a couple. Id say find one with activities , dancing etc involved to turn into fun not just a blinded dinner. "

  • "The main purpose of a restaurant is to serve food, if i had to eat mediocre quality food , i would have gone to any place, that doesn't serve a meal for $100 , that being said, food bad, dark experience not what it is hyped about "

  • "We had an amazing experience - if you go, make sure Mike is your waiter. He was so nice and very courteous throughout the entire evening, asking if we were ok and if we needed anything. And if you expect or hope for your eyes to adjust, they wont. It was a really cool experience and we look forward to taking friends in the future."

  • "Dining here was definitely a unique experience that everyone should try at least once. I would not done here again simply because the price is too high and the novelty of it, I feel, would probably wear out after the first time. "

  • "For 100 a plate, I would go elsewhere, such as a sea food restaurant. Near by, or an Italian or French upscale place. Overall not worth the money, and the set menu is not flexible enough."

  • "Great experience! Had a great time. Would definitely go back."

  • "The service was great and opaque is an unique experience. In terms of food it's very pricy, but what you're really paying for is the experience. I consider dining in the dark a one trick pony! Enjoyed it but probably won't do it again."

  • "This is a one in a life time experience you have to try. It was fun and exciting very different , food was good . It was our anniversary and a evening we will never forget :)"

  • "I really love that the servers are visually impaired; it brought a whole new level to the dining in the dark experience. You leave feeling very thankful for your vision. My server was so sweet and was quick to bring us food, take our plates and fill our glasses. I questioned if the food was also cooked in the dark-it was not good and parts of our dinner were on the table. The bar's music was blaring and I could barely hear my boyfriend speak. Save yourself $250 and eat dinner in the dark at your own house."

  • "Dining in the Dark is no joke. It was a very interesting experience. The food was better than expected, but the experience is the reason to go. You are encouraged to eat with your hands and there are additional items for you to experience during your meal. The servers were very attentive and friendly- knowing when to "disappear" and when to be attentive. The only negative I had was there was a large, noisy group eating at the same time as us and because there is no sense of space, they were constantly yelling. Not sure I would go back unless it was for a special occasion or something, but definitely something to experience once in your life."

  • "Get ready for an emotional experience that will change you! I was slightly nervous with the idea of dining in the dark but the waitress and staff are very helpful.i did struggle finding the meat on my plate with the main course. It would have helped if our server would have said it was at 8:00 position on your plate. Instead I had to use my hands to find it or take a random bite and hope it was steak. I also thought that a $30 corkage fee was a bit much. However I found at the end of the meal I became incredibly grateful for the idea that I was about to walk out of the restaurant and see everything again, including my dates face. We take this for granted! This was absolutely amazing!"

  • "For a very unique experience this is the place. The pricing is a little over the top but that is because you are paying for the uniquness. I would recommend at least going one time."

  • "I thought this was a fun experience but definately not worth the price. The experience was fun but the food was not very good at all, ecpecially the broccoli. It had a very funny taste, There were 4 of us and not one of us were able to eat the borccoli."

  • "Our server, Anthony, made the experience a memorable one. He was extremely friendly and open about his experience living in the dark. We walked away amazed at his accomplishments, his positive outlook and genuine heart. The food was delicious, the only aspect that I did not like was the location and ambiance, felt like walking into a nightclub, not what I expected for a $250 experience for 2 people."

  • "The experience of eating in the dark was intriguing. I was not disappointed there. However, for $99 per person, I also expect $99 worth of food and service. The lamb was mediocre. The chocolate cake was dry. The server was not inviting, engaging, or even kind. It seemed like she did not care at all. It was the equivalent of a pitch black diner. I plan on repeating the experience of dining in the dark, but in my own apartment, as I can make much higher quality food for a fraction of the cost. Had I spent only $50 per person, I would be less disappointed, as it may have been worth it just for the experience."

  • "This is great when you want a place that offers something unique in terms of experience. You'll be using senses in a new way to figure out what you're eating and when you come out you'll have a new appreciation for your sense of sight. Really great experience and fun to take a date / significant other / spouse because you have to work together. The server gave me my fiance's dinner and my fiance received mine. You have to work together in the dark to switch the plates and see where the bread is, help move the water, try each other's food. It's a great experience. Just gives you a great appreciation for your eyes :)"

  • "Great concept but falls short in every way. The food is not good. Tastes like Mary Calendars. The furniture is very old in the lounge and torn. Bathrooms are very old also. Way overpriced with mediocre food. I would not go back. The whole experience should cost more like $50. You can only take like thirty minutes of pure darkness before you want to get out!"

  • "I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting to be taken on a journey. Somewhere down the line in almost 2 hours I felt like I was in a different dimension. It takes an open mind & a willingness to try something like this but definitely worth it ladies & gents. You'll have a tastebud explosion here! Enjoy!"

  • "Opaque was great. The service was excellent, and the food was delicious, but it was really the experience that will bring me back again. Dining in the dark is unlike anything I have done before, and really makes you appreciate your senses, as well as elevating your dining experience. Being unable to see really heightens your sense of smell, taste, and touch, all essential for enjoying your meal. Your sense of hearing also becomes acute, and I quite enjoyed a few brief conversations with surrounding tables. Totally worth it; I will definitely be back again."

  • "This was one of those thinghs you do once just to say," Yes I have done that." the experience was interesting. Food was okay, not great, not worth the price of admission, but okay. But eating in the pitch black was pretty cool until a friend spills ice cold water. Service was outstanding though. Our waiter was exceptional"

  • "Overall, you come to this place for the experience, not the food. The food was a solid 7/10, but definitely not worth the $100 per person++ that you pay. The experience though, was worth that much to me. Our waitress was completely blind, and having her guide us through a meal in absolute darkness was incredibly *eye-opening* to me. I really felt like I was blind for the 1.5 hours we were there, and I really enjoyed trying the mystery foods. It was a great experience for me and my wife, and we're glad we went. This is definitely worth it, but it is more of a one time experience than a routine dinner spot. I would definitely go back with out-of-town friends etc. in the future because of how unique the experience is."

  • "What a one of the time experience, Me and my wife we weren't aware that it will be pitch black there, and that visually impaired people work there. Food was great! Would recommend it to everyone. Great place for unusual cool date."
