    surprised

I made a reservation on Friday for dinner at 6:30 on Saturday (Sahara & Rainbow). Part of my party arrived before I did and called to tell me that the restaurant was closed for remodeling. You can only imagine my surprise at the news as I had a confirmation for dinner which I had e-mailed to the group. We ended up going to another restaurant up the street and were fortunate that they were able to accomodate us.

The food was nothing to rave about. Not the kind of restaurant that I would have selected if I had more information about it. Some of the previous positive comments are what made decide to try this restaurant, but it barely had a passing grade in my opinion as someone looking for culinary excellence.

The chicken lemon rice soup was excellent! Couldn't get a lamb souvlaki but the beef was excellent. Wish they had lamb.

The staff treat you like family. They had music and entertainment (a belly dancer and a singer). I would definitely go again. The food was authentic

  • Good Greek food in Las Vegas

Good Greek food in Las Vegas has been difficult find, but this is one with authentic ambiance and food. The adorable waitress was efficient, knowledgable and willing to make suggestions. Our guest had never eaten Greek food before, so the sampler was a great choice. It consisted of dolmades, roast leg of lamb, meatballs, mousaka, gigantes, potatoes and vegetables. A great way to experience tastes of Greek food. Other foods sampled included flaming Saganaki, Greek salad, vegetarian combo, and grilled chicken breast served with lemoned potatoes and vegetables. A very nice meal was enjoyed by all. I believe that there is music played on certain nights, but the weeknight we were there there was no music, thus it was a nice quiet dinner.

  • Excellent-everything homemade

Excellent-everything homemade from scratch and delicious. High quality and done with care. Waitstaff and owner are personable and give excellent service - everyone here really cares about the food and your enjoyment of it - so unusual, especially in Vegas. You can have an inexpensive meal here or an expensive, one depending on what you choose to eat. Menu has great variety. We loved it so much that we went back to eat a second night. Terrific - don't miss it - worth a cab ride if you don't have a car and are a tourist. You can bring a large group, too, if you happen to be out there for a meeting or convention - they can easily accommodate you - just call ahead and they will be ready for you. Not just for Greek food lovers. A must.

  • Get me to the Greek...

For those who are looking for the best New York and Chicago Homestlye Greek restaurant, Las Vegas happens to have one of the best in the country. Surprisingly situated in a corner stript mall at Sahara and Rainbow, this unassuming location hosts the best service, food, and wonderful owner a restaurant could have. From flaming Saganaki (a tradition), the wonderfully lemon flavored Dolmades, to the best Pastichio I have had. Save room for desert: the Galactobouriko probably weighs in at a pound with its light honey syrup. While we ate later in the evening midweek, the staff did not push us out the door at closing time. I look forward to future visits when their musicians are playing on the weekend. Too many delicious options... OPA!
