Ooka Japanese Sushi & Hibachi SteakhouseFirst time in a sushi restaurantI had eaten sushi but not in a formal dining setting. My daughter guided me through the menu and ordered for both of us. Everything was delicious. I wish I had been a more informed sushi diner or the server had assisted us with how to savor the subtle flavors that the chef had infused into the food - rather than just put down wasabi, ginger, and soy and basically say " dig in".
Still, a very good dining experience.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat FoodReview for the restaurant side not the hibachi side. If you want city quality in the burbs this place is it. 2nd time eating hear in the past 3 months and everything has been very good to great. Don't leave without trying one if the chefs signature rolls.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother Good Dinner at OokaAgain, enjoyed our dinner at Ooka, was seated immediately upon arrival. My seared scallops with brown rice was well done, and my mom continues to enjoy the tempura soba - I think it's an entree under $15, and is a large meal. Our server was very attentive and helpful. Only minor issue was that our miso soup was delivered with the meal vs. before, which is my preference. I think someone had forgotten to give it to us, as I asked our server, and just after that, it arrived.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful FoodThe sushi is the best I've ever had and it will keep me coming back. With that being said, each time I dine there the service always leaves something to be desired. The hostess's often appear to be confused or overwhelmed, often needing the manager to assist them. It also appears that the servers are given more tables than they can adequately tend to, and on many occasions managers are left to refilling your drinks and making sure all is well. If you expect prompt service from the moment you sit down then you will not be pleased by this restaurant. Also, once your waiter takes your order, don't expect to see him or her until well after you have finished your food.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMBirthday BashWent with 8 people for a birthday and everything was GREAT! Can't wait to go back!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMFood Lacking flavorFood was plentiful compared with other hibachi restaurants in the area. You won't leave Ooka feeling hungry though. We orderd a sushi roll and tempura appetizer. The sushi was definitely some of the best I've had in the area. While the food was plentiful it lacked in flavor. Not sure if this was due to being combined with a foursome with (2) kids or not, but the food really was lacking flavor. Falling short overall in my opinion. Needed more garlic and seasoning.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThe dessert selection andThe dessert selection and taste was a nice surprise!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
