  • "One of my favorite restaurants in the Lehigh Valley is Kome. One night I was chatting with the bartender and learned that Ooka was owned by the same person, so I decided to take some clients there. It was wonderful, equally as good as Kome and not at all disappointing. I live closer to Kome but if I am in the Montgomeryville area, I will definitely go back. There were 4 of us and we all shared some items and enjoyed our own as well. It was fabulous!"

  • "This is the Ooka location near the Montgomeryville mall. I have to say, we had a great time overall! -The food was, as expected, superb! -The building itself was clean and neat and tidy. Restrooms were clean! -Wait staff was friendly and attentive! -Wait time was reasonable for a busy Friday evening and multiple Maki that we ordered. A+ !"

  • "We've eaten here on multiple occasions and have always had a delicious meal - whether hibachi or sushi - always a great experience!!"

  • "We are big fans of hibachi, and we've been to Osaka (Lansdale) and Benihana (Plymouth Meeting) for hibachi many times before. This was our first time having hibachi at Ooka, and I was impressed not only the food quality, but how different the hibachi was from other places. Ooka includes soup and salad as well as two pieces of shrimp with any meal you order. They charge $3 extra for fried rice, which is a downside, and the fried rice is not chopstick friendly (not sticky). They serve noodles in addition to rice, so the double carbs are also a little odd. The meat and vegetables, however, were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The filet and scallops were excellent, and possilbly the best hibachi filet I've ever had. Highly recommend!"

  • "I had made reservations a week in advance for the hibachi table. It was my son's birthday celebration. When we arrived, I was told they were getting our table ready and that it would be soon. We waited over 50 minutes after our reservation time to be seated. When we were being seated, I noticed a bunch of open tables with no one sitting at them. Why did you make us wait so long to be seated? We were all very hungry and grew impatient waiting around. The hostess kept telling us that they were getting our table ready (for 50+ minutes???!!!!!???) You could have seated us and started with drinks, salad and soup if the cook wasn't available. It was very poor coordination. It will be a long time before we visit again."

  • "Made a reservation, was finally seated an hour and ten minutes later. Ordered sushi appetizer and two entrees. They came 50 minutes later, with the sushi to follow. I can't believe I did not walk out. I think I was too weak with hunger. No visit from manager. No comped anything. Server was poor, didn't introduce herself, never came over to table, nothing. Absolutely horrible experience. Will never go to this location again."

  • "The sushi at Ooka is wonderful - Beautiful presentation and very fresh. They also have a great Lychee Martini on the cocktail menu. Highly recommend for a date night or girls night out!"

  • "My wife is Japanese and we were celebrating 10 years of her moving to the USA after we had married in Tokyo. So, what better than a Japanese restaurant however being cautious of the authenticity of Asian food is always in the back of our minds when choosing somewhere to eat. We had eaten lunch at Ooka some time ago and based on that experience chose to go there for our celebration dinner. The evening couldn’t have been better, everything was excellent, the menu, service, courtesy, food and drinks. Our son was made welcome and enjoyed his favorite, cooked sushi! I would certainly recommend Ooka to anyone who likes to eat authentic Japanese food with a wide range of choices on the menu with great service and a great atmosphere.!"

  • "The restaurant was packed when we arrived, but they seated us right on time at 8:15. Our waitress was very pleasant and attentive. Unfortunately, it too quite a while for our food to arrive. With the main courses, my wife and I received our (cooked) entrees, but my daughter's sushi special "was not started yet, because the sushi bar was backed up". We finished our course before the sushi arrived. To their credit, the restaurant reimbursed us for half of her entree. Because the food was pretty good, and our waitress was very apologetic, we'll try it again. Not a very good sign for a Friday night, though."

  • "I have dined at Ooka several times over the past year; it is one of my favorites in the area. I have to be honest, this visit was not the best. Was a Sunday night after another bout of snow, and I think people were happy to be out of the house. It was moderately busy, but not overly. Service was very slow (i.e., time to order, time to receive food, and time to get bill), I never received my salad, and when food arrived, was lukewarm."

  • "For the first time at any hibachi steakhouse I felt like I wasn't given a good portion of food. Usually I can justify the price of the hibachi grill because I always walk out with a lunch box for the next day. This was the smallest portion of rice and chicken I ever got. I've been here many times before, so I'm just hoping maybe there was a shortage of rice and chicken. I will be back to give it another shot for sure, but I hope that for the price I get the value in return."

  • "Went there on V-day with another couple. Food was great, no complaints there, but for some reason it took forever for the food to come out. We were there for 3 hours. Not sure if kitchen was short staffed or if a big take-out order was given priority, but the service was very, very slow."

  • "Like what I've heard is its sister restaurant, Kome, in the Promenade in Center Valley, Ooka's food is excellent, restaurant clean, people friendly and prices decent. The filet mignon is tender & delicious! It's not a quick meal if you eat at tge hibachi tables, takes about an hour, but is relaxing and fun. If there are kids, tgey love it and are fun to watch."

  • "Ooka has the best of both...you can go hibachi grill for a fun experience and groups or sit in the dining room. We ate in dining room this time and it was great. My husband had a sushi/sashimi plater and I had seared scallops. Both came with miso soup and salads which are often an additional charge at other similar restaurants. The prices are decent for the type and style restaurant and you know its quality food. It was a little loud but it was a Friday night and full. Service was great."

  • "The restaurant has a nice atmosphere, good casual vibe for groups to talk and laugh without fear of others being annoyed. Not for a quiet date night out. I ordered the Filet & Chicken for hibachi, but the Chef forgot the chicken. The Steak, veggies, rice, salad & soup were very tasty. I'm sure the chicken would have been as well. The hibachi chef was a little forgetful and reserved compared to other chefs and other restaurants. Thought he would be having more fun with the group. Overall was a great night out. Oh and they did correct for the missed chicken on the bill without any hassle."

  • "Chef can accomodate a gluten free family member at Ooka. It's difficult to find Japanese restaurants with staff trained about gluten allergies so I appreciate the option. Our family enjoyed all of the sushi entrees, especially the spicy tuna tacos appetizer. Portions are a nice size and food is delicious. Waitstaff kept stacking plates on our table; especially after they told us they weren't allowed to do so."

  • "Not only did we receive outstanding service from our waiter, including great recommendations on both wine and food, but I noticed that the tables around us were getting equally good service with their respective servers. It doesn't happen often that we are blown away by the staff at a restaurant, so I wanted to make sure to give them credit. Beyond that, our dinners were both delicious!"

  • "We went to celebrate my wife's birthday and even noted that it was a birthday celebration on the Open Table reservation. I also noted this when I called to confirm. Not one Happy Birthday wish from anyone. And that would have been fine but the bigger insult was when someone celebrating their birthday at the next table got a cake with candles and singing from their waiter. Maybe it has something to do with our waiter who seemed to disappear for extended lengths of time."

  • "Waited an hour for the hibachi chef to start cooking. Once he finally started, my husband's order was wrong. By the time the food was done, my 2 year old was beyond hungry and had lost it."

  • "The food is always great. But for some reason this visit was different from the others. The host was rude and had an attitude, we waited a long amount of time for drink refills and the waiter mixed up 4 out of 10 plates at the table. We still enjoyed the food but the service could have been better."

  • "We've gone to Ooka in Montgomeryville for a few years. We go for birthdays and special occasions. This year, each visit has been more disappointing than the previous time. The food has gone from good to average and the service on Christmas Eve was sub par. When we sat at the hibachi, the table was sticky. Most of the soup and salad dishes were never cleared from the table after we ate those courses. They used to fill your water glasses several times but we only got one refill this time and our waitress did an amazing disappearing act. The hibachi chef was boring and was a terrible throw for the guests to catch the zucchini in their mouths. At this point, it's over priced and over rated."

  • "the only draw back was the noise! there was a "happy hour" at the bar and it made it impossible for conversation. It was my birthday and the first time we were there. Outside of the noise everything else was terrific!"

  • "We went to Ooka for my fiance's birthday. We got the ooka sushi, the wassabi fried rice, and the calamari. Everything was fantastic. We enjoyed all of our food, as well as the service. When asked if we wanted to look at a desssert menu, I just looked at her and said, "Your the birthday girl." We then proceeded to order desert, and the waiter brought it out with a candle in it. They were extremely nice, we got a great meal, and the prices were pretty reasonable."

  • "Wife and I have been to Ooka ~12 times over the past years and were always satisfied until now. Although our server was attentive & helpful, we waited over 30mins for our food, which was consistent with waiting times around us. We usually order each sushi/sashimi piece individually, but this time we ordered a platter a roll, and a few individual sushi orders. The platter was so awful that we had to ask the server whether the individual orders get the fresher fish because the fish on our platter looked old, dry and unappetizing. We were told there should be no difference. We tried to eat it regardless, hoping beer would do the trick, but it was impossible to do and we left half the platter unfinished. The roll was decent, no complaints"

  • "We had a celiac diner with us-hibachi is usually a safe bet as long as the chef is clear from the outset what they are dealing with. Our chef had a hard time understanding and was mixing utensils and throwing gluten food all over the grill when he should have been keeping foods to sections or cooking in shifts. This is the third time we have dined hibachi with the celiac diner and the first time we had any issues. Overall, the food left some to be desired-it did not seem as flavorful as hibachi generally does and the fried rice was very sparsely garnished with the veggies. Lastly, the hibachi show that the children so love was lacking here-no onion train, little fire, lacked interaction with the diners."

  • "We ate as a group of 6 and had a wonderful experience. We had a minor hiccup in that one of the guests did not want sushi and ordered a chicken dish, instead. Unfortunately, we never received that meal and eventually had them remove it from the bill. They did compensate us appropriately for the inconvenience with a discounted bill, which I feel was respectable. The service, otherwise, is exceptional. The bar scene is fabulous. I would recommend Ooka for anyone looking to meet with friends in a place where it is loud enough that you can clang some glasses without head turns."
