  • "The wife and I were really looking forward to dining within the Four Seasons hotel chain. I have to admit that the landscape on the grounds was amazing and our waiter, Jesus, was quite attentive. One can't help but enjoy dining outside while looking at lush grounds and a beautifully landscaped waterfall area. However, the food left much to be desired. My wife and I ordered 4 rolls and to be quite honest, they really didn't taste any better than "mall restaurant sushi." In fact, we concluded that any mid-range sushi place was noticeably better. The same can be said of their food presentation-such a disappointment. It made you feel like you weren't dining at a fine restaurant. Again, great service, but food leaves so much to be desired."

  • "We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of our meals and deserts. though the presentation could have been nicer for this level of a restaurant. We have selected this restaurant for our get-together with friends whom we haven't seen in a long time, in hopes that it would be quiet enough for us to have a conversation. While we were treated beautifully by the kind, caring staff, the noise level became a bit above what we hoped for. So, overall, a good experience, though not quite as good as what we experienced at Four Seasons hotel in Santa Barbara."

  • "Onyx is situated in a beautiful setting; the food is fantastic, excellent sushi as well as other offerings; fabulous presentation by the chef; even the seaweed salad sparkles; first class service; innovative as well as traditional bar selections. Just a lovely place!"

  • "From the seating to the check, the service were excellent. Our server was courteous and helpful. Our entrees were a bit delayed so the our server offered free drinks for the delay. Each course was superb. Didn't notice any noise, and the room was full. I would recommend the onyx for date night - kids were there, but not many."

  • "Food was fabulous. Modest portions and a great presentation. A somewhat limited menu however a good variety of options. Service was impeccable. Found the prices were a bit high...expect to pay ~$70 per person for appitizer/entree/desert without drinks. Overall a good recommendation for a casual Asian dining experience."

  • "We decided to try Onyx after receiving a coupon offer. We were immediately and warmly greeted and seated. The chef came over to our table and asked us if we had any questions about the menu and the choices available under the terms of the coupon. He later returned at the end of the meal to asked how we enjoyed the food. I cannot recall that ever happening before in other restaurants including some very exclusive locations. The food and service were all outstanding and the portions very generous."

  • "This is the second time in a year that I have eaten here. Both times one person in our party was served when everyone else was finished with dinner. The manager said he was very sorry but didn't do anything about it. The food is less than average.I am very disappointed in the Four Seasons. I used to love Hampton's and went there at least once a month. It went steadily downhill. I don't understand why they can't improve their restaurants. I love the hotel and will miss going there."

  • "I made reservations ahead of time and the restaurant made sure there was a special dessert for the birthday boy. Food was great and we will for sure be back. Thank you for a great experience."

  • "Very good but pricey. Food was excellent. It really is more of a sushi place but does have a few other choices if you do not care for sushi."

  • "We were looking for something different and found ONYX. Great food. Our table of 5 enjoyed trying and sharing all the different dishes."
    Dined on 7/16/2014
  • "From our table overlooking the gardens and a huge waterfall, the setting was beautiful. The food was pretty good, but for the price, it should have been better. My "chef selection" sushi/sashimi plate appeared to have been put together in advance and kept in a refrigerator. At half price with my Conejo Deal, it was a good value, but I won't go back and pay full price."

  • "Wonderful, inventive seafood. Great setting. Impressive desserts."

  • "Went for my birthday and they were mindful of that with a card and a little something extra at the end. I knew it would be pricey but thought the food would be a little more special. Their soft shell crab roll was just average and the size of their individual sushi pieces was small. They make a lot of their food spicy which I can't eat so I found the menu rather limiting. Portions on their entree items were very small as well. Service was very good and our server was extremely helpful in making our selections."

  • "We had a 7:15 reservation and got seated immediately. It wasn't completely full but there were many tables that were occupied. We ordered a variety of Sushi and rolls. The garlic noodles were delicious. They didn't have my favorite wine by the glass but she have it to me anyway. We will go back soon."

  • "The food and service were very goo but it was a little expensive for what we got. "

  • "My husband and I love going to Onyx the sushi is fresh, good is flavorful and consistent. Will be back. Service was fantastic, staff is very attentive and not overbearing. Love sitting outside to listen to the waterfall! See you again Onyx! Love the spicy garlic edamame, hot stone beef, Hawaiian roll, garlic noodles!!!"

  • "No lighting after dusk on beautiful patio...bring your own flash light. Very pricey for sushi, but it's the Four Season after all Service unpredictable...no you see them, not you don't for a while. "

  • "Next is not disappoint! I have been there several times over the years and I always think is this time to be as good as the last, and it always is. The sushi was amazing the service was incredible and as usual just Masa was ready to greet your hand as you walked in the door."

  • "We had fish and beef -- excellent. The appetizers were striking to look at and tasted just as good. The ambience leaves a bit to be desired. I think they have crammed in a few too many tables. This was our second dinner here. Both the food and the service were much better than I recall from the first visit."

  • "We had a Travel Zoo coupon for the Onyx restaurant. When we arrived, we asked to sit in the bar area so we could watch the television (NHL playoff game was on). The hostess was very accommodating and made sure the current channel was on so we could watch our game. Our Waite was very nice but the major complaint that I had was on how long it took for us to get our main course. The food was average and the only dish that stood out was desert."

  • "We had dinner at 8 pm on Saturday night. It seems that most of the other people there were just finishing a slumber party. The food is ok, the service as good as you can expect, but there really is no reason to go here."

  • "Decided to take advantage of a previously purchased Groupon that would soon be expiring, so wasn't exactly sure what to expect - in terms of meal quality/quantity, etc., relative to promotional price paid. My fiancé and I were very pleasantly surprised... from the visual presentation of our meals, to the quantity provided in each course. I am not a sushi fan, but my fiancé quickly finished his Sushi Plate appetizer and was quite pleased. Other meal highlights included the Sea Bass entree (excellent!), and the Wagyu Beef (which was brought to the table raw (w/veggies and seasonings) for me to prepare on the hot plate)... quite tasty. Service = attentive. Atmosphere = a few too many kids for my liking. Would we return = Yes."

  • "I went with my husband to celebrate our 25th anniversary expecting something special from a Four Season's restaurant. We left feeling it was good but not memorable. The miso soup however is very good. "

  • "The four course meal we had was excellent. Everything from the drinks, appetizer, entree, and desserts was delicious. I would say the main entree was the best. I would definitely come back for another celebration."

  • "Not only is the food out of this world, but the service could not be better. We hosted a table for 6 for my husband's birthday - the food, presentation, and ambiance were all top of the line. The chef was so sweet, he came and wished my husband happy birthday, sent over two bowls of steaming mussels on the house….and kept checking back with us to make sure our experience was excellent. Four Seasons knows how to take such special care of their guests!"

  • "We celebrated our wedding anniversary using our travel zoo deal. We came in early about 30 minutes before our reservations and we were seated right away. We were greeted with a glass of champagne for our anniversary. The choices we made from appetizer down to the dessert were excellent. We got an extra dessert for our anniversary and also a greeting card signed by the staff of the restaurant."

  • "Great food and service. Nothing to complain on the adult entries. It would be nicer if the meat portion in the kids meal is larger. Desserts are wonderful. Not too sweet and nicely presented."

  • "We just went to Onyx for our third time, for our 10th wedding anniversary and had an amazing meal, as usual. We ate our weight in food, probably tried most menu items. Lobster roll, blackened cod, and curry mussels were my favorites, as well as all of the sushi - the sushi was VERY well prepared and we are picky, as my husband lived in Japan for ten years and has had the best. The chef came out to chat and was very personable (I'm sure he was curious to see what two people on earth could eat this much food), as were waitstaff. Highly recommend Onyx."

  • "Our dinner was a mixed bag: the udon noodles were absolutely sublime, but the beef short rib was, well, one tiny short rib. Very tasty, but gone in a heartbeat. Yikes! As usual, the service and ambience are stellar. We do miss the tempura items on the menu. But we'll be back!"

  • "I loved this place! We went here for our 3 year anniversary and everything was perfect. The food was exceptional, the service was spot-on, and the whole night was made very memorable. We had the Travelzoo voucher, so we got the sushi, tuna tartare, wagyu, and the pork belly. For dessert, we got the cheesecake, and they added a plate of berries and chocolate mochi, with beautiful chocolate writing on the plate - "Happy Anniversary." A wonderful romantic evening. I would love to return."
