A word from Onotria Wine Country Cuisine
The name "Land of Vines" was given to the South of Italy upon its discovery by the Greeks, for it's great expanse of vines across its rich & fertile country sides to seaside cliffs along the coast.

Master Chef Massimo Navarretta was raised farming & making wine at its heart, the region of Campania. At "Onotria," savor the gastronomy & oenology of wine producing regions of the world.

  • "A little piece of Italian heaven. This has become our "go to" place any time we want Italian food. The food is perfectly cooked and more to the point extremely tasty! This time started with salads, and each dressing was wonderful, then had filet steak with an amazing sauce and duck with figs. As we cleared our plates there was no room for dessert this time, but from previous visits all desserts are great."

They were nice to bring a dessert out for my wife with a candle, but they served it to the wrong person at our table. Will try it again in the future, but there are other places I will try first."

  • "This place is wonderful from top to bottom. Great service and a attentive and knowledgeable waiter. The food is prepared with the chef's signature on every item. Be prepared to spend several hours as this is a epicurean adventure to which the staff wants you to soak it in with no rush. The wine list is extensive and a bit pricey and would be my only knock, but it is probably because they seek to serve only a certain level of wine."

  • "Booked a reservation for a special occasion dinner. The owner made an initial appearance to brag about his wine list, but later ignored us, although the place was practically empty. The water was served with a straw and the bread basket was full of bland, soft pieces. The wait staff was attentive but service was far from formal, and even pulling our plates before we were done. We were really disappointed with the food, especially at the high price point. The appetizers and main course were overcooked and poorly presented. Dessert wasn't thrilling either. Did find a sauvignon blanc and a pinot from the Russian River that were good, and not overpriced. The whole experience was very disappointing and we won't be back. Too bad! Live and Learn!"

  • "the service has been lacking! I have noted Onotria as one of my favorite restaurants. However, the last three times I have been there, something has been terribly wrong with the service. Once we had wrong orders; once we had a forgotten meal; and once we had to wait FORTY minutes for just our DRINKS to get to our table. I have recommended Onotria many times, but am hesitant to do so just because their service has been "shotty" to say the least. It did not use to be like that. But, their food and wine is incredible!"

  • "I have eaten at this restaurant some years ago and enjoyed it, but it fell off my radar. I was with two companions, all of us 'foodies' and the meal was simply wonderful (I ordered cassoulet. which had a really delicate flavor.) The wine list pairings were helpful and the service attentive. I also thought the prices reasonable. The only drawback was the noise level. The restaurant is all hard services with nothing to absorb the sound, hence my rating for ambience. Fortunately, the tables are not too close together so we didn't feel uncomfortable talking a little more loudly than usual."

  • "I've been to Onotria's several times, so I decided to go for Valentine's dinner. When I arrived for my 8:00 reservation, we were told we'd have to wait about 15-20 for table. That already put a bad taste in my mouth. Finally when seated, we saw there was a special Valentines menu (now I looked on their website and this was not listed). My favorite dish was no on it, but no problem there were several other interesting choices. We started with a Pear Salad which was so bland even pepper couldn't enhance it. For our entree, I had the Rack of Lamb and that was very good. My fiancé had the Sea Bass which was not. I had a taste and agreed. As far as a romantic evening at Onotria, it is pretty difficult with all the noise and staff activity."

  • "Went on Valentines to this now former favorite. Despite a reservation, we were seated more than 30 mins late. We stood for 25 of the 30 minutes in line at the bar trying to get a drink! After seating, noise level was incredible. Waiter was overwhelmed and distracted - never brought bread, forgot my husbands vegetable switch and wine. After the wrong veges were brought to his attention, he swiped them off the plate but never replaced them Dinner was mediocre - filet mignon was small and overdone. We were honestly glad to leave just so we could get away from the noise. It's a shame to see a great place take such a nosedive. It's clear someone massively overbooked."

  • "I do not recommend Onotrio. They were out of one of our wine selections, and this is a wine restaurant. Three of us dined and one of the dinners arrived luke warm. We were the first ones in the dinning room that night and still the service was slow. Mediocore at best. The main dishes are not inexpensive, yet they do not have one grain of rice or other starch or any veggies on the plate. Kind of a bummer. Service could use a boost for sure. Not going back to this one..."

  • "Our party was a small group of 5 for a retirement dinner with coworkers. Our table was prepared and ready when three of us arrived. While waiting we ordered wine at the table and were welcomed to sit and chat without being rushed. When the others arrived we chatted some more and it was an hour past our reservation time when we finally ordered entrees. I am relating this initial experience because our waiter never pushed us to order, was knowledgeable in steering us to a great bottle of wine that everyone liked, and let us feel like we were in our dining room with a group of friends. The food was fantastic, pasta and salmon dishes for the group. I am so glad to finally experience this neighborhood find."

  • "Extremely disappointed. Octopus was served with canned artichokes hearts. Yuck. "Wild salmon" may have been wild, but it was not fresh and was served with canned cannelloni beans in a flavorless sauce. Risotto tasted more like roasted rice doused in a cream sauce, the shrimp which came with it was also not fresh and over-cooked. The fettuccine with smoked duck was over powered by the sweetness of the dry figs and lacked any sort of acid to balance that sweetness. Good wine list and competent service. And yet, our server, a nice young man, never once asked us at any point in the meal how the food was. Perhaps he knew. Will definitely not return and have already canceled another reservation I had there for later in February."

Actually two of our dishes (Tuna and Fillet) were nice -- the sweet potato gnocchi was not as good as we hoped for some reason -- too mushy. Wine and the service was great!"

  • "This was our second time at the restaurant, and this time was just as good as the first. Salads starters were perfect.The branzino was delicious as was the filet with cherries. All the desserts were incredible. I was so impressed that even on this extremely busy night New Year's Eve, when the restaurant is full and the wait staff very busy, we felt as if we were a valued customer and everything was as professional as our first visit. Massimo even had time to come over and say hello as he recognized us from our first visit..."

  • "I made reservations and still had to wait almost an hour to be seated. The bartender at least gave us happy hour prices for our drinks since we waited so long. Once seated there was no silverware and we had to wait a long time to get bread. Once we got bread there were no bread plates to put our bread on so I had to ask for them personally. Once I placed my order the waiter came back to tell me they RAN OUT OF STEAK so I was not able to get the filet mignon I wanted. He tried to talk me into the prime rib that was twice the price of the filet and I said no. Then he said he would have the chef cut down the prime rib and charge me less. He did charge me less for the prime rib. The pasta dish was mediocre at best but my prime rib was good."

  • "Although the outside looks very drab, it's very modern and cozy inside with a couple separate dining areas. Menu has lots of variety and something for everyone. Enjoyed the salmon appetizer and I could have made a meal on their home made bread. My husband and I split the 20 ounce rib eye served tableside...good flavor. Side dishes are separate and can be shared by four (even though they tell you two).. The grilled vegetables with lovely. Our companions had the filet and pork loin. They were very pleased. Waiter very knowledgeable about menu and gave us good advice on how to order our meats. I felt the $$ should have been a $$$. Too full for dessert but understand they are good. I will definitely go back."

  • "Best beet salad I've ever had and I get that just about every place I go to . The yellow beets were are nice touch and added to the presentation. Although I' normally don't eat veal, the veal sausage pizza was delicious. The eggplant bruschetta appetizer was also delicious. The eggplant was thinly sliced, topped with an overflow of fresh tomatoes and a thin piece of cheese (the name of which I can remember) that was sharp and added just the right blend to the item. I look forward to going back for dinner so I can enjoy my meal with some wine."

  • "This place is one of our favorite places to go to eat because of the delicious food. BUT, it really needs a service overhaul. Glasses are never refilled. Questions are hard to get answered. When a waiter does come to the table, he is usually friendly but he does not come often. Food delivery timing is also an issue. Appetizer coming with meal-things like that. Attention to detail on the service side is the issue. Working on that would really make this a special place to go. We do love the food which is why we go often. Just wish we felt better about the whole experience when we left."

  • "Our waiter was great. Very relaxed, warm, friendly, patient, engaging and helpful. The food was delicious, particularly my dish of clams, calamari and rapini. Just the way I like it: simple, easy on the seasoning, elegant its basic concept, and perfectly balanced in the flavors. Perfect place for large group eating. However, for those of us who come in pairs for a quiet dinner, the noise level was a bit distracting. I think one of the banquet-style rooms (there were two in use that night) had its doors wide open, obviously to make it convenient for the servers, but thought might be given to designing an entry/exit from the room without so much noise pouring into the central dining area. We will still return."

  • "First visit was when the restaurant first opened and we decided to give it a second try. What I remember of that visit , nothing over the top but expensive small portions. Obviously it was not above average or we would have returned sooner. We gave it another try this weekend; service was poor, food just OK, and noisy, lots of children . When we arrived, there was a large black spider walking across our table and we mentioned it to the server. His response "we have a lot of those here". We had appetizers and for entrees the cuttlefish and the loup de mer. The fish was carved tableside and unfortunately had a ton of bones. My husband's entrée, the cuttlefish came with a side of veggies. We both agree, we will not be returning to Onotria."

He brought course (and paired wine) after course that showed the chef's brilliance off to the nth degree.
