  • "We made reservations here with the impression that the restaurant had a 'rooftop view' however, they closed that restaurant two years ago and put this one on the second floor. The view is of the dirty side of another very close by building. Our server was very difficult to communicate with, and we are foreign, so it was especially weird when we kept having to explain that the order of green beans was to come with the meal, and not the appetizers. The scallops were perfect, and the crab cakes looked undercooked but seemed just fine, the outside was just barely brown. They hand you the wine list on an iPad, but they don't have all their wines listed on it, we had to ask for Riesling, which turned out to be the worst we've ever had."

  • "Was very disappointed with whole experince. Had reservations Hostess apologetic) 0. Had to wait 20 minutes because other guests at our table. Seated and appetizers took till 8 pm to arrive. Never offered bread although some tables had bread. Expected a view after reading reviews. Felt like we were in breakfast/lunch restaurant not a "nice" dinner establishment. TV'S are fine for sports bars again not fancy dinner establishment. L"

  • "The food was of a typical "3 star hotel food quality!" and not up to the quality for the Grand Hyatt. I had the clam chowder which had lots of clams, yet no clam taste and was more of a slightly potato or floured thickened soup. I also had the crab cakes that were good, but the sauce for them was inedible to my taste (fortunately the sauce was surrounding the cakes and not under or over each). My wife had a flat bread where the tomato sauce lacked any herb taste to it (it tasted like ground tomatoes and that's it) and overall the whole flatbread and its toppings lacked any good flavors, and was basically bland. To us, apparently they don't taste what they make, otherwise it'd be up to what it should be for this fine hotel."

  • "We live down the street from the hotel and went for dinner after the tree lighting at Union Square. The food is inventive, has good flavor, and is presented nicely. They had a special dessert buffet, which I think goes through Christmas, all you can eat for $10.00 if you order an main course, sponsored by Ghirardelli, very nice and worth the$10.00. We'll go back."

  • "I appreciate when restaurants open for Thanksgiving, and when we decided late to go out, our choices were limited. The food was good and just enough -- no stuffing ourselves as is so often true when offered a buffet option. I was particularly surprised at how small the restaurant is to support a 33-story hotel. The restaurant is nothing special, especially with the wealth of fantastic restaurants in the area -- which could be management's logic with the size of this hotel restaurant."

  • "New to the bay area with no family close, we needed a place to go for Thanksgiving Dinner. OneUp in the Hyatt provided a convenient location to get to from BART. For Thanksgiving they provided a prix fixe meal that satisfied our need for a traditional family meal. I had an excellent butternut squash soup, turkey, sweet potatoes and brussel sprouts, all tasty and cooked to perfection. My husband had a great salad, prime rib, mash potatoes and spinach. OneUp's wine list was sufficient and provided a young but satisfying Alexander Valley cabernet. We ended with a pumpkin cheese cake and pecan pie. The ambiance was more Denny's than sophisticated but the service was good and we were given time to enjoy the meal and each other's company."

  • "The restaurant has recently been updated as part of The Grand Hyatt mezzanine level... Booths and tables in a modern environment make it a comfortable choice. Went for Thanksgiving which had an ala carte or pre fixe menu. Was expecting ok food in a nice atmosphere on Union Square...We were delighted to have the best turkey eve! It melted in your mouth and a prime rib with mushrooms, horseradish and Yukon potatos that was sizable and good...the soup and salads were flavorful with special touches and the pumpkin cheesecake was a light mousse style treat! The service was first rate and the bar on the other side of the room looked colorful and inviting! Lots of wine and cocktail choices as well."

  • "Went for breakfast because of the central location. Nice looking restaurant. But the buffet was sub- par, about what you'd expect from the free breakfast at hotels like Comfort Inn. At $26. however, it's an insult. My companion asked for herbal tea, they brought her different regular caffeinated tea three times. She gave up. Waiter seemed annoyed at her for bothering him."

  • "This restaurant is in the Grand Hyatt Union Square. We took some friends there and tried it for the first time. I'm giving it two stars because my husband had the Clam Chowder and loved it. The Kale and Romaine Caesar was very good too. The dinners were all disappointing. The Salmon was too done on one side. The Beef and Broccoli was strange and the meat didn't go with the noodles and Broccoli, but the most disappointing was the San Francisco Cioppino! Our friend is Italian and he said it was the worse Cioppino he ever ate! We all grew up in the Bay Area and know our Cioppino. The lounge was small but lively with a great wine selection. I would recommend the lounge not the restaurant as a meeting spot for a glass of wine."

  • "Our experience here was a bit comical. It was a family meal so we were a bit on edge. The wait staff was very pleasant but overly attentive. After we sat down and ordered wine, we were told that we had to wait a bit because the wine cabinet was locked. There were blueberries for my drink, then no blueberries, then blueberries. This all resulted in me having three drinks on the house, so I can't complain, but the staff didn't need to let me know every minute detail about the blueberry status. There were knives dropped on my sister and my father, no harm done though. My sister ordered a vegetable dish off menu (not a lot for vegetarians here), and it was *HORRIBLE*. We were also amused by the "locally sourced" ALASKAN Halibut."

The regular menu prices were a bit high and catered to someone using an expense account. I did like the fact that an iPad is used to show all of the bar menu."

  • "The menu is pretty limited for dinner. The food was good and the service was attentive. Since the hotel had recently completed a remodel we wanted to check it out and it was very nice. They do give "locals" a discount of 20% so that was nice. Because it is a hotel we had a family with a small very loud child sitting next to us which would most likely not be true for a similar priced restaurant not in a hotel, so that makes it less than enjoyable. I would go back, and definitively would check out the bar scene at another time. Could be romantic is not for the screaming kid!"

  • "Came here for Dine About Town. Salad to start, little dressing and greens were whole so it required a knife to eat. A bit awkward, not terribly rewarding, though cheese and toasted pumpkin seeds were nice. Main was the lamb burger, solid execution, good portion size, med-rare as ordered, juicy, very flavorful, nice and fluffy brioche-type bun. A bit messy but enjoyable. Fries it came with were herbed but pretty mediocre. Dessert was a surprisingly unique panna cotta with citrus, red wine caramel, and basil micro greens, delicious and a pleasant surprise, though the texture was a bit too firm for me. Would have marked the food Very Good if the salad and fries hadn't been lackluster. Good overall, but regular prices are too high. Come for DAT"

Due to renovations no view but your host saved the evening by sending our group of 6 to a private dinning room serviced by wonderful waiter Ed and his assistants.
