Diner Reviews
  • "I had the loveliest evening at ONE the other night. The food was exquisite and tasteful, the service was incredible and as for the atmosphere, it had the right amount of class and elegance! It was perfect to say the least. Overall my experience was ONEderful. It was truly the perfect evening for a dinner with friends. I will definitely be back to dine at ONE again!"

  • "I havent been here since 2 years ago, i remember the food being excellent and decided to take my bf here for dinner for his birthday. He absolutely loved it here and price is decent. The lobster spoons were to die for. We will definitely be coming back here."

  • "One is obviously a successful and bustling restaurant for good reason. The food is delectable, the service quiet, polite and unobtrusive and the ambience perfect.....day or evening. Kudos to the chef and all the staff for providing a seamlessly positive experience."

  • "Great value lunch menu, when you factor in the location, service and the possibility to have a lengthy business conversation without being rushed out the door. Patio favored by power brokers, I prefer the quieter inside tables."

  • "The crab Eggs Benedict were wonderful and our waitress was terrific."

  • "We arrived a few minutes late and were welcomed with open arms and smiling faces. Seated in the best seat in the house for two - table window side in the front corner to take in all the action and scenery outdoors. Service was fantastic. Our waitress was friendly, personable but not a "chatty Cathy". She made great recommendations of which all were perfect. The food was excellent. both in presentation and of course and more importantly taste. Fantastic experience and we will absolutely be back. This time with a group for a special night. Thank you."

  • "once again fooled into thinking ONE stood for quality, had the same meal we had two weeks ago, totally different, brunch was not good at all, the waffles were overcooked the chicken was over breaded, and the oysters we ordered NEVER CAME, the room was totally ignored by the staff for almost 30 minutes, people were getting up to find the staff that were AWOL, come on guys GET IT TOGETHER, this is not amateur hour and not amateur prices. I guess MARK MCEWAN is too busy to manage this investment being busy trying to be a ROCK STAR CHEF, but I feel this place is now PASSE , as their is not any consistency, drinks take forever, and then your server disappears for long periods of time."

  • "We enjoyed one very much. My husband and I were there a few weeks before for brunch and it was amazing. We will definitely return."

  • "i have dined here many times and have never been disappointed with the food, it is fantastic. they make fantastic cocktails, if you like them strong you will love these. I always have lobster spoons to start they are amazing. lobster in butter and vermouth ....amazing, a must have. main course we had the halibut, it was fantastic, cooked to perfection. service was a little disappointing this time, waiter wasn't overly friendly, but it didn't ruin the evening."

  • "There were 4 big mistakes admittedly made during our our dinner for 2 and no offer to absorb any of the meal's cost. I'll take my business elsewhere."
    Dined on 3/8/2014
  • "The food was very good, but very pricey. $30 for a burger and fries? The cocktails were also very pricey, so we ordered the house wine by the glass. I don't mind spending money for a great meal, but I do find it irritating that certain restaurants feel they can gouge you on price. I made notice (but didn't share with my family) that the server was good but not overly friendly, my daughter towards the end of the meal made the same comment to me."

  • "This was the first time that we have been to One and I can definitively say this will not be the last. The hype for the restaurant was spot on. The waitress we had was outstanding and spot on the entire night. Entrees, were great and just what you'd expect. The Foie gras was the best that I've had. The main course, streak and fish were also excellent."

  • "Excellent menu and wine list (even a non-alcoholic beer and wine-by-the-glass!). Food is well-presented, tasty, and the variety is impressive. The restaurant positions itself as Italian, but while the Italian dishes on the menu are excellent, the décor and atmosphere is modern and very un-Italian. The room is more attractive and comfortable now; on an earlier visit, soon after the opening, the tables were packed-in with chair-backs clashing. Certainly, now, a fine-dining experience, but more than a tad expensive (Dover Sole $90)."

  • "Slow service. Servers were polite, but we waited about 1 hr before getting our main meal. Food was tasty. Nice environment."

  • "My husband and I dined at One Restaurant by Mark McEwan on the weekend it was the best meal we ever had. I got to try a variety of items that I would never try before. Our experience at One was amazing to sum it up. I had the Dover Sole and my husband had the Black Cod, the Dover Sole was pricey at $90 but worth every penny in flavour. We ordered calamari to start with the blood orange salad at they both were amazing, the calamari was the very best We have ever had so tender. On the side we had the chive spun potatoes and they were amazing, comfort in a bowl. My husband saved room for desert and had the bread pudding and loved it. If you have the chance to try this restaurant make sure you do, you will not be disappointed."

  • "Making my way through the menu - everything is excellent, stellar. Easily one of the best restaurants in town."

  • "The winterlicious menu was great, well thought out, well prepared. Our server ordered me the wrong entree, and brought the gnocchi instead of the salmon, we didnt bother to correct because we didnt have a great deal of time. None of the food blew me away, but the execution was tasteful, portions were right, and overall it made us want to go back, which to means speaks to the success of winterlicious."

  • "Food was good, however they only served 2 scallops for the main on the Winterlicious menu."

  • "slow service but good when it finally arrived, waitress ( 701 Belen V) wasn't very friendly until she saw our 16% tips."

  • "Food was delicious but some of the guys were still hungry after the small scallop plate. I loved my food, however the service was spotty. Extra bread for table of 8 and coffees with dessert had to requested 3x. Wonder if this was because Tip is already tacked for large parties therefore behaviour follows. Otherwise, food and ambience was good."

  • "We went to One for Winterlicious. It's their first year participating and I hope they continue. Such a lovely place and the food was absolutely amazing! I would go back in a heartbeat. Hubby and I are going to make it a tradition to do date nights here every once in a while."

  • "Dinner was great! Steak was one of the best we've ever had. Winterlicious menu decent."

  • "I had the winterlicious menu in the One restaurant. Even though the taste of the food is excellent, the portion size of the dishes are much smaller as compared to other restaurants that also offered the winterlicious menu."

  • "High class fine dining service, great opportunity to try out one restaurant from winterlicious! Absolutely lovely atmosphere for candle light dinner. Romantic location right on yorkville district. We had winterlicious dinner, food is delicious and we didnt have to wait for long time, red pepper bread is my favorite'"

  • "very delicious brunch, eggs are done just right. runny centred eggs for the benny, scrambled eggs are perfectly cooked. the truffle frites are to die for."

  • "They were ready to seat us the minute we arrived. Wasn't overly crowded. Many tables of twosomes. A few tables of revelers. The waitress was excellent. Knew about the various dishes and answered all our questions. Food was excellent too. Great taste and presentation. Not overly "fussy" as in "I have no idea what I just ate but it was good" kind of thing. The menu has a wide variety of different foods but everything is "recognizable". Even a few things that kids would eat including chicken noodle soup."

  • "Beautiful restaurant and quit so it's easier to converse with your partner. We went for brunch, and it was everything and more. We had an omelet and eggs Benedict, both of which were delicious. Best dish to recommend is the French toast. It was fantastic and surprisingly not overly sweet (however I would share it like we did) The interior was nicely decorated and the window views look down the smaller streets of Yorkville. The service was great too. An overall excellent experience. Whether it's your first date, a place to spoil a special someone or a even treat a best friend, this place is a perfect spot."

  • "A nice place to eat. Modern and comfortable. Food was okay. Nothing I would rave about. There is better in Toronto for the same price...and less."

  • "Absolutely everything that our table of four ordered from appetizers through to dessert and drinks was outstandingly delicious. As always. Having tried most items on the menu, I can say that you will not be let down with any choice - everything is amazing."

  • "Great dinner. We have a romantic evening there for our anniversary. It was pretty quiet but I am assuming it was because of the frigid temperatures. Service was fantastic. I would definitely visit again."
    Dined on 1/4/2014
  • "The brunch menu is limited--a fish choice would be welcome-- but my ongoing complaint is about the mediocre quality of the food. The pancakes are pedestrian (well made, but boring), but the omelettes bear very little resemblance to the classic French omelette. They are more like a dense egg pancake, folded over. I find it inedible. The coffee is mediocre, but beautifully served. The lunch bread is wonderful. The service is very good, and the ambience is elegant, relaxed and pleasant. So, if you care about elegant cooking, this isn't the place, but if the priority is an elegant location, you're good."

  • "What an amazing restaurant located in the heart of Yorkville. It is only fitting for such a fantastic restaurant to be located. The food, service and atmosphere are second to none. I HIGHLY recommend One for any and all occasions AAA+++"

  • "My Boyfriend and i had a few days in the toronto area to celebrate my birthday and wanted a romantic place for dinner. I googled top five restaurants in the toronto area and the One came up. i booked on line and it was simple and easy and i was even able to request a quiet romantic table. the restaurant was exceptional along with the service. the food ...amazing i had the short ribs and the spun potatoes...melt in your mouth. We are planning another romantic getaway in the spring and without a doubt we will be visiting the One again."
