Excellent menu and wine list (even
a non-alcoholic beer and wine-by-the-glass!). Food is well-presented, tasty, and the variety is impressive. The restaurant positions itself as Italian, but while the Italian dishes on the menu are excellent, the décor and atmosphere is modern and very un-Italian. The room is more attractive and comfortable now; on an earlier visit, soon after the opening, the tables were packed-in with chair-backs clashing. Certainly, now, a fine-dining experience, but more than a tad expensive (Dover Sole $90)."

Slow service. Servers were polite,
but we waited about 1 hr before getting our main meal. Food was tasty. Nice environment."

One has never let us down the food
is always delicious and the service it excellent."

My husband and I dined at One
Restaurant by Mark McEwan on the weekend it was the best meal we ever had. I got to try a variety of items that I would never try before. Our experience at One was amazing to sum it up. I had the Dover Sole and my husband had the Black Cod, the Dover Sole was pricey at $90 but worth every penny in flavour. We ordered calamari to start with the blood orange salad at they both were amazing, the calamari was the very best We have ever had so tender. On the side we had the chive spun potatoes and they were amazing, comfort in a bowl. My husband saved room for desert and had the bread pudding and loved it. If you have the chance to try this restaurant make sure you do, you will not be disappointed."

Making my way through the menu -
everything is excellent, stellar. Easily one of the best restaurants in town."
Dined on 2/13/2014
The winterlicious menu was great,
well thought out, well prepared. Our server ordered me the wrong entree, and brought the gnocchi instead of the salmon, we didnt bother to correct because we didnt have a great deal of time. None of the food blew me away, but the execution was tasteful, portions were right, and overall it made us want to go back, which to means speaks to the success of winterlicious."
Dined on 2/10/2014
Food was good, however they only
served 2 scallops for the main on the Winterlicious menu."

detail from menu to stunning
dishes , choice of champagne, canada touch to menu love the rustic woodern servers to plate.. black truffles with fries ...yum"

slow service but good when it
finally arrived, waitress ( 701 Belen V) wasn't very friendly until she saw our 16% tips."
Dined on 2/8/2014
Food was delicious but some of the
guys were still hungry after the small scallop plate. I loved my food, however the service was spotty. Extra bread for table of 8 and coffees with dessert had to requested 3x. Wonder if this was because Tip is already tacked for large parties therefore behaviour follows. Otherwise, food and ambience was good."
Dined on 2/7/2014
We went to One for Winterlicious.
It's their first year participating and I hope they continue. Such a lovely place and the food was absolutely amazing! I would go back in a heartbeat. Hubby and I are going to make it a tradition to do date nights here every once in a while."
Dined on 2/7/2014
Dinner was great! Steak was one of
the best we've ever had. Winterlicious menu decent."
Dined on 2/2/2014
I had the winterlicious menu in
the One restaurant. Even though the taste of the food is excellent, the portion size of the dishes are much smaller as compared to other restaurants that also offered the winterlicious menu."
Dined on 2/4/2014
High class fine dining service,
great opportunity to try out one restaurant from winterlicious! Absolutely lovely atmosphere for candle light dinner. Romantic location right on yorkville district. We had winterlicious dinner, food is delicious and we didnt have to wait for long time, red pepper bread is my favorite'"

This was my second time in this
place. It is outstanding. Food is extraordinary.. Service is excellent."
Dined on 2/3/2014
very delicious brunch, eggs are
done just right. runny centred eggs for the benny, scrambled eggs are perfectly cooked. the truffle frites are to die for."
Dined on 2/1/2014
They were ready to seat us the
minute we arrived. Wasn't overly crowded. Many tables of twosomes. A few tables of revelers. The waitress was excellent. Knew about the various dishes and answered all our questions. Food was excellent too. Great taste and presentation. Not overly "fussy" as in "I have no idea what I just ate but it was good" kind of thing. The menu has a wide variety of different foods but everything is "recognizable". Even a few things that kids would eat including chicken noodle soup."

Beautiful restaurant and quit so
it's easier to converse with your partner. We went for brunch, and it was everything and more. We had an omelet and eggs Benedict, both of which were delicious. Best dish to recommend is the French toast. It was fantastic and surprisingly not overly sweet (however I would share it like we did) The interior was nicely decorated and the window views look down the smaller streets of Yorkville. The service was great too. An overall excellent experience. Whether it's your first date, a place to spoil a special someone or a even treat a best friend, this place is a perfect spot."

A nice place to eat. Modern and
comfortable. Food was okay. Nothing I would rave about. There is better in Toronto for the same price...and less."
Dined on 1/22/2014
Absolutely everything that our
table of four ordered from appetizers through to dessert and drinks was outstandingly delicious. As always. Having tried most items on the menu, I can say that you will not be let down with any choice - everything is amazing."
Dined on 1/15/2014
Great dinner. We have a romantic
evening there for our anniversary. It was pretty quiet but I am assuming it was because of the frigid temperatures. Service was fantastic. I would definitely visit again."
Dined on 1/4/2014
The brunch menu is limited--a fish
choice would be welcome-- but my ongoing complaint is about the mediocre quality of the food. The pancakes are pedestrian (well made, but boring), but the omelettes bear very little resemblance to the classic French omelette. They are more like a dense egg pancake, folded over. I find it inedible. The coffee is mediocre, but beautifully served. The lunch bread is wonderful. The service is very good, and the ambience is elegant, relaxed and pleasant. So, if you care about elegant cooking, this isn't the place, but if the priority is an elegant location, you're good."

Had a Lovely evening. It was quiet
but service was attentive. Food was good."

ALWAYS order the lobster
bouchees....you will not regret it! Wish I had gotten the chicken and waffles, they looked really good. Coffee was....not great."

What an amazing restaurant located
in the heart of Yorkville. It is only fitting for such a fantastic restaurant to be located. The food, service and atmosphere are second to none. I HIGHLY recommend One for any and all occasions AAA+++"
Dined on 1/3/2014
Great food beautifully presented.
Unless you are very wealthy best for special occasions, birthdays, anniversaries etc. It is very expensive."

My Boyfriend and i had a few days
in the toronto area to celebrate my birthday and wanted a romantic place for dinner. I googled top five restaurants in the toronto area and the One came up. i booked on line and it was simple and easy and i was even able to request a quiet romantic table. the restaurant was exceptional along with the service. the food ...amazing i had the short ribs and the spun potatoes...melt in your mouth. We are planning another romantic getaway in the spring and without a doubt we will be visiting the One again."
Dined on 11/7/2013
Unfortunately i was not impressed
with my first experience at ONE. we had a large obnoxious table next to us which totally ruined the ambiance and atmosphere. the food was good. the wine list was rediculous. i shouldn't have to spend 200 or more on a bottle of wine. not impressed with the prices - totally outrageous. overall the experience was ok, but it was my birthday and so i wish i would have gone somewhere else. the service was ok - not exceptional. i would not recommend this restaurant to my friends. sorry to say but i think there could be some improvements made to both the menu, the service and the wine list selection and price."
Dined on 12/20/2013
I've always enjoyed coming here...
the good and ambiance was outstanding again.. I was a bit put off by our waitress who for some reason had an attitude like she was annoyed. she couldn't possibly have been rushed since we were 8 people in the entire restaurant. none the less I will definitely return!!"
Dined on 12/28/2013
Service was quite distant. The
rosti potatoes were simply a deep fried patty. Very disappointing. The omelette was decent though certainly not ground shaking. Overall mediocre to average food at a premium price (without premium service)"
Dined on 12/25/2013
Amazing food. Love it... Just
moved to Toronto, it's probably gonna be my new spot :-)"
Dined on 12/19/2013
The entrees and desserts were very
good and reasonable value for money. Dessert menu is fun. The appetizer selection was not as exciting or well priced for what they were..Wine list is a little off the charts. Most of us do not want to spend $600 on a bottle of wine. Should be more of a selection in the reds in $75 to $150 range"
Dined on 12/12/2013
Delicious eggs benedict; fantastic
service, we made it to our spa appointment in perfect time!"
Dined on 11/23/2013
You can have the best food in the
world on your menu but if your server can't describe how it's prepared or served it doesn't matter any more. "My guess would be that..." I don't want to hear about your best guess."
Dined on 11/23/2013
We were disappointed with our
overall experience at One. When we were first seated, the table behind us was VERY loud and using a lot of profanity. Not pleasant! They did not have the wine we chose from their list. Overall the service was slow and inconsistent. The food was "fine". We would not go back and probably would not recommend."
Dined on 11/22/2013
We celebrated an anniversary with
my girlfriend, she had the lobster pasta and I had the special, the rabbit and both were not that great. Besides the taste not being great, the portions size was small, at least for the rabbit dish. The Appetizer were delicious, had the lobster bisque and avocado and crab salad."
Dined on 11/8/2013
The food is good, the service is
good, the wine list is not. There are many wine options, but they are ridiculously over priced. I'm fine with restaurants making good profit from wine, but this was over the top gauging. There were several wines I saw that were double the price of what other restaurants charge."

It's an uphill battle for McEwan,
he and his food experiences are abundant in Toronto of which I've experienced several times over. So I finally made it to One expecting an outrageously luxurious food-intoxication and ambiance beyond compare. The fortunate and unfortunate part is it did compare, but that's it. Delicious apps, including oysters, foie gras, calamari, etc. Tender Steak, gorgeous Chicken Shnitzel (winner hands down) and I love a great coffee to cap it off. The servers were duds. Would I go back, maybe, but I'll probably to his other fab spots before I hit this one again."
Dined on 11/18/2013
Service was slow and the food was
served cold.I.? I think it was rookie night"
Dined on 4/19/2013
The food was really good (pancakes
and waffles), great portions for the prices. But, our waiter look bored and barely spoke to us and didn't even made eye contact. It was a weird ambience, like if we talked people looked at us."
