  • "Booked lunch because I had never been there. Seated inside right beside the window which on a hot day was preferable. I was glad to get Pellegrino instead of some no-name brand of Italian sparkling water. Date had the corn chowder...tasty and gorgeous presentation. I had the salad, balanced and delightful. Mains were a disappointment. The eggplant was bland, lacked salt and spicing though quality ingredients were used. Date had the fried chicken...ok but not particularly tasty...didn't finish it Same complaint, bland with no spices. Coleslaw was good. Desserts were well received. Date had the sorbet and loved it. I had the chocolate cheesecake and loved the sponge/english toffee combo garnish. Not bad value for the money."

  • "I made this reservation with open table for lunch summerlicious at ONE restaurant. Upon arrival, they said they dont serve summerlicious lunch on saturday,why would opentable sent me a confirmation # and remind me 2 times about this RESERVATION? I purposely choose this restaurant to try and I have to take public transportaion to commute from Markham to Downtown Toronto,WHAT A WASTE OF MY TIME AND HOLIDAY !!!! I'll appreciate if OPENTABLE can give me a good explanation and compensation on THEIR MISTAKE.Jerry from the ONE restaurant was very nice and do appreciate his understanding why dont want to stay for the brunch as I really want to try the summerlicious menu.VERY disappointed with the opentable for poor communication."

  • "We celebrated our 36th wedding anniversary with you for dinner. Early on we mentioned this in passing to our very nice Aussie server. When desert arrived, the kitchen had decorated our plates with "Happy Anniversary" in chocolate script! Wow, such a nice touch!!!"

  • "Unless you were going to choose from the regular menu, they never offered the summerlicious menu you had to ask. The service was very slow and we had to ask for everything, bread, butter. I felt we were the only ones eating from it as everyone else in the place had great service and the regular food. The summerlicious menu was not that great, the options were very poor. We all choice the salmon, (Ok) not great with orzo. If they do not want to promote it they should stay out of it."

  • "'One' rates itself highly and charges accordingly. Indeed, the cuisine is first class. But, sloppy management is now evident. We reserved for dinner for Saturday, 5th July, using OpenTable. On arrival we were told our reservation was for the next day. No attempt was made to help. But I was able to produce the confirmation letter (on my smart phone). The reservation had indeed been confirmed for the Saturday. After a somewhat stunned pause, a table was found for us! The young lady serving our table took our drinks order, with my wife ordering a non-alcoholic beer (as listed). Shortly afterwards, we were told the beer was out of stock! Later, I was delivered the wrong dessert. Then, the bill included the absent beer! Mark McEwan...take note!"

However, one would have expected more deference for the clientele and food that reflect the standing of that restaurant and its chef."

  • "Previously I had only been to One for drinks. This visit was a Summerlicious lunch, without drinks. The food was spectacular: corn crab chowder (the soup itself poured at the table), eggplant parm, and a peach apricot crumble with creme fraiche. Friend had pork belly, salmon and the same crumble. The interior is quite modern, yet comfortable. Tall ceilings, nice wall decor, open space. It was about half full for our visit. The only downside was not being able to eat outside, being told our table reserved was inside and the patio booked up... this despite the two people ahead of us being told they'd been reserved inside but changed to outside."

  • "Visited One for Summerlicious. Popular patio hot spot during the Film Festival, One is not cheap, but then you are in Yorkville. Three for dinner with one vegetarian. Our vegetarian guest was surprised by how tasty her meal was. All our meals were very good and presented beautifully. We had only one minor issue, when it came to dessert, you would expect your waiter to offer coffee, tea, expresso or cappuccino. This was not the case. I put myself through school via the hospitality industry working for the Four Seasons and Sutton Place Hotel, so I would expect nothing but polished service from One Hazelton."

  • "Have been to ONE several times. Always good, but I feel it's overpriced. The food is always very good, but I expect to be blown away at those prices and I never am. Went for summerlicious for a nice meal on their great patio - can't go wrong there right? Practically had to beg the waiter for the summerlicious menu, which was not at all reflective of their standard menu (e.g. eggplant parmesian?!? If i wanted to go to olive garden, I would have...and saved about $100 in the process)."

  • "ONE is an outstanding restaurant. The service, food and ambiance was first class. My guest and I ordered from the summerlicious menu. The choices for appetizer, main course and dessert were excellent. It is a great patio for people watching. Our server was most attentive and accommodating. I highly recommend this restaurant. It has a great vibe. I will be returning next week with another guest."

  • "We went for the summer program and so does not have a fair sampling of your full menu. We had a look at the full menu and it appears to be reasonably priced with a good selection. What we had was better than most lunch places. The salmon was PERFECTLY cooked and the presentation was creative. The service was very good. We will definitely come back and recommend the restaurant to friends."

The cocktail I ordered was amazing and the food was also delicious, but my starter was much bigger than I expected and I ended up with just too much food. However we all very much enjoyed our evening overall!"

  • "We celebrated my husband's birthday last Saturday, 21st June 2014 and we all agreed that we had the best service by Michelle. She made our dinner so exquisite and special for the occasion. She requested a special "Happy Birthday" greetings created by Amy on the Strawberry shortcake dessert.... Thanks to both Michelle and Amy and of course the wonderful Chef's of One Restaurant for making this day special. Looking forward to our next dining experience to ONE Restaurant...."

  • "I was disappointed. I made a reservation and was told when we arrived that on-line reservations did not get to sit on the patio, although there was apparently a lot of room when we arrived. Although our server started off being attentive and friendly she suddenly seemed to forget about us - the length wait to get a drink or order wine was frustrating. When we did order our food, it arrived in minutes and it was disappointing - the 65 dollar risotto was luke-warm and unremarkable and the other two dishes were average. Our wine arrived after our dinner and no one checked in to see how our meal was. The atmosphere was excellent but I am not sure I would return given the service and the food."

  • "We had a great brunch here on father's day. we sat outside. 3 adults and a toddler. all were welcomed. service was impeccable. food was wonderful and creative. The smoked salmon rosti and crab benedict were my favorites. i would skip the fried chicken and waffle and fruit plate next time. Oysters and champagne as starters was perfect for a special occasion. Adam sandler was sitting with his family at the table near us and staff was well trained in making sure he got his privacy as people walking by began stopping to take pictures and posing for selfies."

  • "We booked One through open table advising we were celebrating our thirtieth wedding anniversary. Wip on arrival we were seated outside amongst the crowd, on a windy evening, leaves and bugs falling everywhere. We were advised that there was a private function inside and therefore no seating, this should have been told to us when we booked. I wanted romantic seating, not picnic in the park. Anyhow, we made the best of things and the evening went well. It is an excellent restaurant. Open table and the restaurants should work together to have seating information so patrons can make better choices. "

  • "My girlfriends and I went to ONE for cocktails Saturday afternoon the service was ridiculously slow. I had booked a table, however it took 20minutes to be seated, we ordered straight away and finally got our drinks after a 40 minute wait, after deciding we wanted another one it took 20 minutes to get our waiter and order our second drink, by then we had to leave for a prior appointment so we cancelled our drinks and left. Terrible experience! Plenty of bread though!"

  • "Went here with a group of 5 for a birthday dinner. Mains: Tomahawk steak (medium rare): Shareable between 3 people. Good, but many parts were RARE and it wasn't a steak worth raving over. Truffle potatoes: delicious! Octopus: very good. Sides: Mushrooms: very good. Foie gras and lobster poutine: not a big fan. Frites were too crispy. Special of the day, tuna tartar: delicious! Carpaccio: this was good, but there was too much of the sauce on top Calamari: very good. Butter chicken tacos: tasty, but I would prefer them a little spicier. Lastly chef's dessert platter (where you get to choose any 3 of the desserts on the menu): Banana cream pie, chocolate brownie, and cheesecake were all good. Overall, just okay. I'm not dying to revisit."

  • "One used to be a favorite spot to dine with out of town guests. Fortunately this weekend we enjoyed meals at Scaramouche, Fabbrica & recently at Ici bistro. The food at One was below standard. It was May long weekend so perhaps the regular kitchen staff was on holidays? The hostess did not attempt to accommodate our seating request even though the restaurant looked to be not as busy as usual. My guest did not enjoy his Black Cod. I did not enjoy the pickerel. Even the lobster spoons were not enjoyed as we have in the past. I cannot see returning to this establishment. We loved our Sunday brunch at Fabricca. A shame that One seems to have dropped the ball as they used to be memorable for the right reasons. "

  • "I have used One for 2 business events and it was perect. Have also been there 4 times prior for brunch/lunch. This time the service was poor. Food order was incorrect and ambiance has changed. Even the lovely idea of providing a low stool for handbags/parcels was overlooked as none of the staff even bothered to move the stool to where the ladies wee seated "

Our third time fell flat, service was very nice and what was I expected , thank you, but the food was just o.k. The short ribs have been removed from the menu...that is the # ONE reason we went back... We will keep an eye on the menu , however when they come back so will we. "

  • "Mark McEwan needs to spend a little time back at the ranch. This place may be the "place to see and be seen" but it NOT the place to eat. My caesar salad was great but my linguini was only luke warm. The tables are so wide you have to yell to be heard across them which destroys any attempt at intimacy. It was over-priced and I was underwhelmed. I will not be back nor will I recommend it to others."

It was perfect to say the least. Overall my experience was ONEderful. It was truly the perfect evening for a dinner with friends. I will definitely be back to dine at ONE again!"
