A really great, relaxing time at One! We first had a drink a the bar, good selection available. We were seated and our server, Alison, greeted us. Very personable, knowledgeable and efficient. We made a few requests to the Chef/kitchen and they were honored no questions asked. Probably the best Foie gras I have had, we could not get enough of it!! Take the time to enjoy this gem.

The roasted chicken was excellent and unbelievably moist! Definitely try the grilled swordfish as well as the sushi du jour. Also the chocolate covered strawberry cheesecake was one of the best I've ever had. This is the second time I've been to One and everything I've ever had there is amazing. The restaurant gives off a very laid back yet elegant vibe and te staff is very knowledgeable about the menu and extremely friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant to all!

We ended up ordering only a light meal (salad for me, crabcakes and fries for my husband.) The flavor and prep were great. We would have had a more substantial meal, but were not inspired by the menu or the evenings specials, so we were a bit dissapointed on that front. The service was on-point and, as noted, what we did have was well prepared. We'll be back.

Food was very good. I had the Salmon and was pleased with the preparation and presentation. Service was fair. Our waiter claimed to have just started with the restaurant. I think he had just started as a waiter. He was not trained very well. Other wait staff checked with us and we made requests to them as our own waiter was unattentive. I have had other fine meals at this restaurant and would definitely return.

Service and food were both excellent!!! My only gripe was that we were seated right next to the bar area and a large group of people stood right next to our table nearly touching us. We could hear every thing they were talking about. It wasn't the restaurant's fault, people are just rude!

Well I can't really speak the the food. We were able to make a reservation, but when we got there they told us there was no dinner that night. however, we did have some cocktails that were rather tasty. However, the place was mostly filled with Jersey-shores types. I guess it's worth another try, as this was St. Patrick's Day and not a standard night.

We had a delightful time. Our server, Devon, was very hospitable and capable. A real gem for the restaurant. The menu was creative and tasty. We were especially surprised and pleased by the preparation of a birthday cake on such short notice. We would definitely go back to try some of the many different dishes the menu had to offer.

Our second dinner at One, and each time the food and service was just outstanding. For our appetizer we split the tuna tacos, a true delight. I had the sea bass, which was perfectly cooked (still moist), with a lovely sauce that was light enough to be enjoying, yet with enough flavor to make me want more. My husband substituted sea bass for one of the specials, as he was intrigued by the blood orange couscous; he was pleased with his dinner. Both times the chef was very accommodating to dietary restrictions. There are quite a number of excellent restaurants in Rochester, and I think One has become our number one.

I searched everywhere for a last minute reservation for Valentine's day as I worked until 9:30 p.m. and many places stopped seating at 9. Luckily, I was able to book at ONE now, had I known the terrific experience I was going to have, I would have booked without even considering another location. Not only was the atmosphere perfect for a late night Valentine's dinner but our server (whose name I unfortunately do not remember" was one of the most notable servers I have had at any caliber of restaurant. Truly a wonderful experience, thank you to the staff!

I only knew of ONE as being a night club (not my style) but the restaurant was great! The bar is big and looks very nice. Food was great and the wine list had all we could ask for. Fire place at the end was really nice and our waiter was great. We went on Valentine's day so there was a special menu - everything was great and I would assume the the normal menu is equally good. We will be going back for sure.

We went there for Valentine's Day. The service from the free valet, the coat check, water server and waiter were all excellent. The restaurant provides ample room between tables so you did not feel cramped. The only complaint I would have was the fixed menu for Valntine's Day. My wife likes to eat beef when we go out. The only option was a Porterhouse for two and since we have diametrically opposed preferences for how well done the meat is, that wasn't a good choice. There were chicken and pork options but no single serving beef options. Will definitely go back.

The Valentine's day menu was perfect for us. It allowed me to choose my meal from the appetizer section only - oysters, a green salad (with made for me lemon vinaigrette) and duck canneloni. My husband chose the roast chicken with mushroom risotto, which when I tasted the risotto I couldn't stop eating it. The mushrooms were so earthy! There are plenty of wines to choose by the glass. Prosecco was served with a whole strawberry (for Valentine's day , perhaps). Atmosphere was low key but cheerful. Will definitely come again.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2007

We have been to One many times and are generally happy with the restaurant. A few things: The valet service was terrific. He saw us pull up after he was already driving away with a car. He stopped the car, jumped out of the car and sprinted back to help us. Our waiter, Alex, was friendly. But he took our flatware, for some reason, after we finished our appetizer. Then we had to wait a bit to eat our dinner since we had no flatware. He did not come over and ask us if our meal was ok (although the pizza du jour and the artichoke lasagne was very good). He also didn't ask us how the dessert was. (the triple chocolate cake was overcooked and dry, definitely not worth $8). The restaurant was not very busy. Despite these problems, we will return.

A lovely find in the city! We had a fantastic week-night meal in a quiet elegant environment. The lobster dish was especially good. Great ambiance set by a roaring fire in a huge fireplace and a scenic "slide show" of changing images that enlivened the bar area. Service was strong but not obtrusive. The only problem was that there weren't many other diners -- this made for a quiet meal for us, but we hope that this restaurant thrives. Come try it out! We will be back.

Our fourth visit to One, and it keeps getting better and better. Special New Year's Eve menu and decorations. Wife chose a foie gras lasagne (!), magnificent, followed by seared duck with duck ravioli, the best preparation she's had in years. I had a grilled shrimp appetizer with caviar sauce and apple-walnut salad, and each flavor and consistency complemented the others. My filet mignon with truffles was the tastiest, most tender cut I can remember. Both the main dishes were large enough to provide lunch on New Year's Day.

Food was ok at best. The pork loin was short on flavor. The tuna tartar tacos could have been great but the tuna tasted like it hung out in the fridge all day without being wrapped up tight. One Restaurant is a great find. We went there sight unseen, and we're really unsure of what to expect. We were not disappointed in any way. The atmosphere and ambiance of the restaurant was wonderful. We dined later in the evening at about 8:30pm. This is a very small and intimate restaurant, but there was adequate spacing for the tables and the diners. No detail was left out, the cutlery, silverware, flatware etc. were all unique and very nice. We started at the bar, and the service was a little slow considering the few number of customers at the bar at that time, but we weren't in a hurry so it wasn't a big deal. The service staff was very attentive to our needs, but not oppressive or annoying.

One is a beautiful restaurant in downtown Rochester. The dim lighting and darkened textures make for a very romantic atmosphere. My partner and I have enjoyed coming here since the winter. The food, however, was not as wonderful as we remember. All of the dishes had a smoky flavor to them, including the creme brulee. We discussed this with the chef and unfortunately, nothing was done to placate our palates. We hesitate to return if this is the new standard for food at One.

We had a very interesting dining experience at One. Appetizers (Crab Louis salad and Duck-Scallion spring rolls) were both excellent but a little aggressive with the spiciness. My Caesar salad was fine. My wife said her duck entree was "OK." My scallops entree had interesting mixes of tastes - salty scallop with mint pesto on risotto with peas and lime - I had to think about it for a bit but ended up deciding I liked it. At 10, the restaurant turned into a lounge with a Las Vegas/Miami-style DJ. Our server was excellent, though a little too high energy for my wife. All in all, a good restaurant in Rochester and we will likely go back.

Several hours before our reservation we called and cancelled 2 people but when we arrived our hostess seemed clueless and rather annoyed that we had interrupted her conversation with another server. While we have eaten here before and found the food to be very good, that was not so this particular evening. We won't be back.
