  • "The service of the staff was great. Everyone was accommodating, friendly, and quick. The food however, was definitely not worth it. The portion sizes were fine (it was actually larger than I had expected) and everything arrived timely, however, every dish we ordered was like licking a salt lick. From appetizers to entrees, everyone at the table tried a bit of everyone's dishes. The adjective used unanimously was "very salty". It definitely was a little disappointing as it was supposed to be a special dinner. I don't think we would come back."

  • "First time I've dined at this restaurant, though I've wanted to for some years. Great location at the end of Market St., just across from the Ferry Terminal. My daughter and I had the 3 and 4 course Chef's menu options and both were incredible. My combination of lamb dishes, particularly the tortellini, was excellent. Her beet carpacchio and pan fried cod were also outstanding. The wine pairing with her meal was excellent, and at only $13, was a great bargain. Our server was pleasant, very knowledgeable, and attentive without being overly intrusive. All in all, a great experience. "

  • "No mystery why One Market lost its M Star. The food was OK (the shrimp loui salad was pretty from a distance, but the lettuce was wilted and sad). What got me most was the strange, clumsy service. We ordered soup and, less than half way through the bowl, our mains arrived. The confused server, seeing we had a ways to go, froze, then hesitated before turning and walking away with the dishes. It was just an odd lunch. Given all the really great options in this part of the city, I can't think of a single reason why I would return. I won't be recommending it either."

  • "We ordered a $50 bottle of Kendall Jackson Chardonnay Grand Reserve, that came to our table - after 10 min of having been ordered - at "cellar temperature", just a bit colder than room temperature. I asked the waiter to please cool it down, but we finished our entrees and were still waiting for the wine. When I complained, the waiter said that, if we wanted cold white wine it had to be ordered by the glass (???). I travel for work a lot, so I eat in restaurants all the time, but never in my life I had been in a unacceptable situation like this (expensive restaurant that don't know how to serve white wine)."

  • "I have been to One Market Restaurant for lunch a few times with my clients, but yesterday was different. I think it was the service that Jo'phine provided. She was extremely busy during lunch but managed to be very aware of little nuances. She was servicing the table next to us but saw that my knife was soaked in cream salad dressing, and immediately replaced my knife for a new one. She was also not overwhelming us with constant concerns but kept at distance. Her attentiveness and knowledgeable about the menu were excellent. My Dungeness Crab Minestrone and Wild Gulf Shrimp “Louis” were delicious. My client also liked her home made Potato Gnocchi. I would definitely come back for dinner sometime soon."

  • "My cousin and I had a great time....she got lost around Mission in SF coming from Redwood City and the staff actually helped out by waiting for her outside so that she wouldn't miss the restaurnt again and could park her car. the food is very good and the service excellent. Had a nice view of the Ferry Bldg. We could talk as the noise level was at a busy,happy level but not a deafening level......"

  • "My guest and I each had the "Business Deal", two very substantial courses for only $24.50. Pork and Rock Shrimp Salad followed by delicious Petrale Sole. Both dishes were delicious. We split a Toffee Crunch Cake for only $4.50 more. A really great deal in one of the best restaurants in town."

  • "Had not been here for many years. But only place could find a reservation for 4 for a business dinner at 7 PM with 4 hours notice in the city. Very surprised by how good the food was as I thought this was an expense account steak house for financial district workers only. Realized I should go back more often."

  • "I ordered crab cakes and crab salad. The crab cakes were more like lumps of crab paste; texture was unpleasant. Shrimp had a very strong chemical/ bleach taste, like you might find in a bad Chinese restaurant. Thank goodness for the bread. This was a business lunch and I was embarrassed by the low quality, overpriced meal. I will not be back."

  • "I moved away from San Francisco a few years ago, and on a brief return visit I was delighted to discover that dinner at One Market is as good as ever. The service and food are excellent, and the prices, including wine, are not as high as its reputation might suggest. I can't comment on lunch. There were four of us, two of whom are vegetarian, and we all easily found great meals. By the way, they do optional small sizes for dessert which means reduced guilt. (The desserts we had were worth the residual guilt.) I'm very hard of hearing and have difficulty in noise, even with smart hearing aids. The noise at One Market was not too bad, especially compared to several other top San Francisco restaurants."

  • "This was my second visit to One Market and it was just as good as I recalled from a year earlier. The menu is just about perfect, with a good mix of entrees, appetizers and sides, but not overly complicated with too many choices. The food is very good and is presented in a creative manner. Plus there's a great wine list. I was in SF on business and dining alone yet I was amazed at how friendly those at nearby tables were, offering menu suggestions and chatting about life. Overall, I had a delightful evening and I look forward to my next visit to One Market."

  • "Had an enjoyable meal. Good place for a business meal. Not a 'destination' restaurant but enjoyable and a comfortable atmosphere. My only "complaint" was that the service was a bit uneven. We went early (6:15) and service was at a brisk pace. Nothing really pushy, but it seemed just a tad rushed. After the meal, a long wait for the check. It was as if they decided they didn't need to turn our table and forgot us. However, this is a persnickety complaint. I could have got someone's attention but did not try. I probably wouldn't even have noticed but for the earlier brisk pace of service. Overall, this is a fine restaurant with solid entrees and competent service. It is also a very comfortable dining room. I will likely go back."

  • "The grass-fed beef specials" meatballs and goulash were so salty we couldn't eat them. I returned the meatballs to the kitchen. Chef replaced them a "saltless" re-do. It was equally salty. Several us who tasted them agreed. When it came to the goulash, I didn't complain. I thought I would look silly. Manager took some money off our bill."

  • "We had another fabulous meal with another couple for my birthday on March 8. The food was spectacular, great service, this establishment has been a consistently great venue. The asparagus salad and duck egg starter was off the hook, and I ordered the trademark brussel sprouts and applewood smoked bacon side with my Mahi Mahi entree. Really good. This place is the real deal and lives up to its reputation."

  • "Great place to celebrate a special occasion. The three of us were celebrating and wanted a special restaurant. One Market was perfect. The ambience was excellent - subdued, clubby elegance. Food was excellent - interesting choices, well prepared, and beautifully presented. Wait staff was very helpful, pleasant and responsive. Had questions for wine steward, and were very happy with interaction. Not inexpensive, but well worth the price. Would definitely recommend."

  • "I've been clients to lunch at One Market for as long as I can remember. It the best lunch hot spot in the area and people are always satisfied with the food. However, in the last few months a bad attitude has crept into the front desk staff and it has become not only noticeable, but embarrassing. Our recent client, who is a well-known SF socialite, remarked: "If I had someone on staff with that attitude, she wouldn't last the day.""

  • "This was my eighth or tenth visit to One Market. The food wasn't up to my recollections of previous visits. There were a variety of choices on the menu. We had the grilled trout, which was nicely grilled but accompanied by a too-oniony parsley and shallot gremolata and some broccoli rabe. The fish was fresh, firm and tasty, but the dish was too oily overall. My companion had the tater tots, which looked crispy and nicely browned. I couldn't help noticing that the next table sent their plates back only half eaten. On the other hand, service was very nice. Our host was very welcoming and friendly, our waiter helpful and charming, and other wait staff very efficient. It was much too noisy to converse easily."

  • "This restaurant used to be great, but its gone way downhill. My most recent meal was fair at best and included mistakes that shouldn't be made in a restaurant of supposed caliber. The salad was extremely overdressed and had wilted and scarred greens, some of my asparagus stalks were burned and others included the inedible woody portion. The ling cod was well prepared. Our server was a very nice guy and efficient, but his cross selling and power of suggestion tactics made me feel like I was at TGI Fridays. I blame his managers for this. In short, its not surprising they lost their Michelin Star. I do hope they get it back."

  • "This is no longer a Bradley Ogden restaurant however, he still has an 'association' with them. The ambiance is very nice, views out to the Embarcadero. Service is very attentive and server was relaxed and fun. The food however is another thing. We ordered crab cakes ( 3) which were the size of a quarter and a little bit of greens on the side,.....all crab and not fried which was different but ok flavor. Caeser salad came next and was very underdressed but could have been good properly attended to. The biggest disappointment was the entrée size grilled halibut which was very small, way, way overly salted and a la carte meaning, if you want something else on the side, it is extra. The kitchen needs to pay better attention what comes out."

  • "Nice restaurant - interesting and good food. Easy to get to on BART or Muni.. I enjoyed it but won't go again. The reason: All of the servers were male. They were ethnically diverse, but all male. Given that San Francisco is half female I can't believe that they are not discriminating against females who apply there as servers. Yes there was a hostess but no servers. In a place where tips are high it is outrageous that they discriminate like this. So though it was a nice restaurant, I won't patronize it again until they make their hiring practices fair."

  • "One of my favorite eating places in SFO. The food has never disappointed me. Lucked out on this visit as they had a Dungeness crab festival. The crab cakes were absolutely fabulous as was the crab with pasta! The braised lamb shoulder was cooked to perfection......melted in the mouth! The staff is also fabulous....they make you feel welcome, just like old friends! Love this place!"
