A word from One Fish Two Fish
Located minutes from Chesapeake Bay on the water is One Fish-Two Fish. We offer an alternative to formal dining, it's what we call "fun dining." The atmosphere is "upscale without the uppity." This unique feeling is created by a casual waterfront environment with boat access. The restaurant is centered around the Exhibition Kitchen with panoramic views of the Bay. The menu incorporates a blend of California style with fresh, local seafood. The wine list focuses on "boutique style" wines and is consistently recognized with the Wine Spectator "Award of Excellence." Stephen Michaels, owner, and his staff strive to make this venue high energy but still elegant. The only thing we overlook is the water. See you there.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "I think if One Fish was anywhere else, it would be a very good restaurant. But, pick the right night, and it can be spectacular! If the weather is warm and you are there for sunset, it is an experience unrivaled in Va Beach, especially if you snag a spot at the end of the dock! I always wish a bit more from the food for the money but I guess you are really paying for the view. You should really have to pay less when you eat inside :-)"

  • "Our friends asked us to dinner and to providea recommendation. We came up with the choice of one fish two fish as we had heard such good things about it. What an awesome choice that turned out to be. Every dish was awesome from the appetizer to the desert. Make the choice and enjoy the sunset if you have the opportunity."

  • "We had dinner with family from out of state who raved to others about the view as well as the wonderful ambience inside. We will certainly be back. Great Experience"

  • "One Fish Two Fish always has consistently excellent food. Their specials are always imaginative and worth trying, so much so that we rarely eat off the main menu. The staff are warm and friendly and the service matches the quality of the food. The view of the sunset over the water can be quite spectacular. We go there each time we visit Virginia Beach. Our only complaint is that they are open only for dinner."

  • "We had a terrific meal for our table of nine and server Billy was perfectly on the ball!! Very fun to watch the hustle/bustle kitchen in the middle of the restaurant. Hostess(es) were very accommodating in combining our two tables so we could all be together! Will return on our next visit!"

  • "The restaurant looks very nice, great ambience. The cocktails were delicious, the dishes were pricey and on the small size but nicely prepared. Our server was pleasant, knowledgeable and attentive. I will return."

  • "The title pretty much says it all. The restaurant has one of the best views of the Lynnhaven Inlet and an extensive wine list. However, the waiter did not seem very knowledgeable about the wines we were asking about. The food was OK, there were some good things but nothing that was great. This usually isn't a problem but for the price of each dish I expected the food to Wow me a little more. Anytime a "nice" restaurant uses potato chips out of the bag to help garnish a seafood entree it is a little embarrassing. For the price I was expecting home fried potato chips or something else made in house."

  • "We had four in our group and we were celebrating our anniversaries. We chose this restaurant because we had heard good things about it but we were not impressed. The food was over priced and was only okay. The restaurant was very noisy and tables are too close together. We could hardly hear ourselves talk. I feel the restaurant is more a bar than anthing else and we will not be going back."

  • "We have been here many times in the past but not so much in the last year. We arrived very early so we could have a drink at the bar, the hostess was great and kept us informed of the progress of our preferred table, and we were seated at the time we had requested on our Open Table booking. Our party of 4 all ordered appetizers, the salads seemed smaller than they were in the past, but they were very good. Three of us ordered the fried flounder, which was very tasty, but could have been hotter (why don't restaurants serve food on hot plates?) All said, it was a great evening with friends, our server was very efficient but also left us to chat without intruding too much and this is still a great place to enjoy a good meal."

  • "It was very loud, the food was good, but not not good enough for the price and our waiter was horrible. Skip this place."

  • "I went with my family for a special occasion. We made a reservation but still had to wait twenty minutes for a table. Once we were seated, the service was very slow/ not attentive (the restaurant seemed understaffed). The food was good, but we've had better there on different occasions. Overall, a little disappointing for a special occasion dinner."

  • "This place was great. They were able to work with us and get us a table earlier than our reservation. The servers were very friendly and focused on making it a great dining experience for me and my date. The Duck Dumplings were very good even though there weren't many on the appetizer plate, and the Fresh Catch of the day (Mahi Mahi) was absolutely delicious. I'll definitely be back, and will have no problem recommending this restaurant to a friend."

  • "We enjoyed a nice Valentine's Evening Out at One Fish Two Fish! We had a nice booth giving us some privacy and that allowed for some conversation although the room was well packed. The food was as ordered. We even good a Valentine special, Everything was well prepared and left no wishes open. As i was pretty busy, we had to take care of our wine ourselves and it was not as quiet and romantic as we had hoped for, but still a restaurant above average."

  • "My husband and I dined at One Fish, Two Fish for Valentine's Day and found the service to be good and the view of Long Bay Pointe to be excellent. We were seated promptly, and the waiter was solicitous, though he got busier as the evening wore on. (We had an early reservation.) We had the Duck Confit Fried Dumplings for a starter, which was somewhat greasy but tasty. I ordered the grilled salmon with polenta cake. The salmon was very good, but I found the polenta cake to be bland and mostly tasteless. My husband had the 14oz. "Choice" Ribeye* Steak, which he enjoyed. The view of the sunset was beautiful."

  • "entree was very good, appetizer (oyster rock) should be using local oyster and serve them warm.use to be my favorite place in town."

  • "We have established One Fish as our special occasion/visitors in town dinner out place. We usually enjoy our time there immensely. Not so much this time. First, we did not get our reserved seating out on the enclosed deck (bumped for a wedding rehearsal dinner, fine, but would have appreciated advance notice of the change). Secondly, the so called fried flounder tasted more like fresh, frozen cod. Not a good experience this visit."

  • "My only complaint is the manager seemed to be a bit uptight. When we arrived we notified the front desk that we may have 1-2 more people joining us for dinner, which didn't seem to sit well with him. Once the headcount was confirmed, we notified the front desk again, adding only 1 person. Again the manager appeared this was an inconvenience, although this was communicated prior to our reservation time. As we were concluding the happy hour we were hosting, we asked if we could start being seated. With a similar look of disapproval, we were informed we needed to gather our entire party prior to being seated. Don't get me wrong, I understood the preference to have us all seated at the same time, it was the manager's continuous demeanor."

  • "The cream of crab soup was absolutely divine, as was the poached pear salad on fresh greens, dried currants and blue cheese. We each had the tortellini with huge shrimp in a lobster cream sauce. The bread pudding was so good, I wanted more and my husband loved the cookie a la mode."

  • "The parking area of this restaurant is extremely dark with very little lighting. Dangerous to walk in dark. Ordered a cosmo martini and it tasted like cherry soda because they used cranberry vodka. When I asked our server how it was made she said it was their house cosmo made with cranberry vodka and did I want a Stolli Cosmo. Told her she should have told me that when I ordered she was a little snippy. Food was average probably won't go back and this had been one of our favorite restaurants."
