A word from One Fish Two Fish
Located minutes from Chesapeake Bay on the water is One Fish-Two Fish. We offer an alternative to formal dining, it's what we call "fun dining." The atmosphere is "upscale without the uppity." This unique feeling is created by a casual waterfront environment with boat access. The restaurant is centered around the Exhibition Kitchen with panoramic views of the Bay. The menu incorporates a blend of California style with fresh, local seafood. The wine list focuses on "boutique style" wines and is consistently recognized with the Wine Spectator "Award of Excellence." Stephen Michaels, owner, and his staff strive to make this venue high energy but still elegant. The only thing we overlook is the water. See you there.Continued

  • "I love this restaurant but the server rushed us and was less than expected."

  • "The only good thing about this place is the location and the view. Food is mediocre for what they charge for an entree. Service was slow and ther server was not friendly at all. She was like a robot, dont even make eye contact or smile. Our appetizer came out cold we asked for her to take it back. She didnt even apologize when she brought the new dish back. I would only go there for a drink thats about it."

  • "The atmosphere and food are always outstanding! We come for special occasions."

  • "The menu is reasonably small for such a nice restaurant but there are an adequate number of choices to please everyone. Food is excellent as is the presentation."

  • "This was our first visit to ONE FISH TWO FISH, with a group of four. The calamari appetizer with onions was very good, but the stunningly delicious centerpiece of our visit was the expertly cooked fish. I had pan braised halibut, while my companions opted for the grouper; the sauces were complimentary to the fish and the balance of the vegetables was delightfully cooked. Best of all, was the mingling of flavors that enhanced the fish. We'll be back!"

  • "We had the grouper special which was AMAZING! The mix of flavor was a surprising experience for my taste buds. Loved it! Will go back."

  • "Very good service and dinner! My Mom was visiting from Hobe Sound, FLA. and we decided to come back to give her a view of the water. Excellent!"

  • "Heard this was a great place. It wasn't great but good. Limited menu. Due to the name of the restaurant, you thought they would have a great fish section but they didn't. A little pricey for what you got!"

  • "I went for my birthday dinner. I had a party of 6. The food came out quick. The service was great. Except for the fact that those of us who payed with cash had to ask for our change. And the scene beautiful!"

  • "The food and the service at One Fish Two Fish were both fantastic! The fish special and catch of the day and the crab cakes were all amazing. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive and really added to our dining experience. We had a table by the window with a beautiful view of the water. The only drawback is the fact that it gets very loud and it's hard to hear the conversation at your table. If possible get a table outside. It is lovely to eat by the water and much quieter. This is one of our favorite ( maybe the favorite) restaurants in Virginia Beach!!"

  • "Normally love this place however, this particular trip not the best. My husband had a bad cooked oyster in appetizer and his meal (catch of the day) was bland. Our Coffee cup were full of coffee grounds. I got the special which was very good the overall experience didn't maret the price of meal. Not sure if we will be going back. Our server apologized but felt charge for appetizer should have been removed. They did put a candle in our purchased dessert for my b-day, nice touch. Mixed feelings but it was a $$$ meal for it not to be on point. Inconsistent :("

  • "Great out door dining! Food was awesome especially the tuna appetizer. Great wine list. Great service. Did not go in the bar but it looked as if it would be a nice place to hang out and have dinner as well."

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant. The food was amazingly good, and the view was great, too. Highly recommended. Probably the best restaurant in Virginia Beach. As a bonus, they were able to provide an outstanding gluten-free meal for my sister."

  • "This restaurant never falls short on delivering excellent ambience, outstanding food and the most informed wait staff. The grouper special was a crowd pleaser! The wine listing is impressive and the Chardonnay we picked was first rate. The marina setting lends a very romantic feel to every meal we've ever had there……great food and a nautical feel. One Fish Two Fish is a "win-win"!"

  • "Had a wonderful celebratory meal, daughter's high school graduation; food was delicious, came promptly, even though restaurant was busy; our server, Brandon, was excellent, attentive but not hovering, had great recommendations for dinner and wine choices. Not my first meal at One Fish Two Fish, but one of the best! The off-the-menu option and the catch of the day are always incredible! And of course the view is second to none. We'll be back!"

  • "Gorgeous night...perfect service...and great food and wine. Doesn't get any better. Love this restaurant while visiting VB frequently. Tanika is a wonderful waitress - she not only remembers my name, but the bottle of wine that I had the last time I ate at the restaurant. She's a great bartender too. WIth wife and daughter had Tuna Titaki (daughter also ordered as her entree, caprese salad, crab bisque, and grouper special. Great wine choice in Scouts Honor. You just can't beet the quality of food, service and atmosphere of this restaurant."

  • "We were seated at a table that had an excellent view of the River. We had the Tuna Tataki for our appetizer which is quickly becoming our favorite appetizer anywhere. We both enjoyed the bacon and avacado salads after our appetizer. I had the special of a sauteed softshell crab with one crab cake paired with brocolini and mashed potatoes. Of all of the meals that I've enjoyed at One Fish Two Fish, this has been my favorite. It was excellent. The softshell was the best I have ever eaten. I would have loved 2 of them. It had a nice crunch and was extremely hot. It was PERFECT. I would have loved 2 or even three of them as a meal. My wife had the Grouper special which she said is now her favorite fish. It was an AWESOME meal. "

  • "Celebrated my daughter's graduation from high school at One Fish Two Fish with family from out of town. Simply fantastic! My mother said, "One of the best meals I have ever had." Delicious and entirely reasonable. Excellent selection of wines and craft beers. Dinner at One Fish Two Fish was the ideal way to conclude a memorable day!"

  • "It was a quiet and slow night, the tuesday after a holiday weekend so the noise level was low and service was high. Our dishes were very different. His was the fried flounder and it was tasty. Mine, the tuna with polenta. The dish was smooth and balanced in color and texture but too mild in its flavoring. We ate out several times in the area on and around Memorial Day . our overall impression was that the A list chefs had the weekend off. We will go back because the location is so nice for an evening meal midweek. And the service so pleasant and there are several dishes worth exploring. "

  • "We found this while on vacation through TripAdvisor. The setting was lovely, looking out over a channel with lovely homes and boats. While it was nice and the food was good, it didn't really resonate as a place to go back. The Oyster appetizer was really good, the rest of the menu was a bit limited and frankly a bit dated. I do live in a foodie haven so perhaps I am a bit spoiled on that front. All of the food was well-executed and service was good, but the overall package lacked zing. Perhaps it was because the place was nearly empty, maybe if it were busier, it would have more energy."

  • "A quiet place, with a creative chef, and good service. Understanding of the needs of someone with a service dog. No veteran's recognition but they did recognize my friend's birthday with a complimentary dessert. Overall very good marks. "

  • "it was just "ok" for being as pricey as it is! We both had the grouper catch of the day for dinner as well as the soft shell crab and fried oysters for starters... all of it lacked any real flavor. They missed a great opportunity to turn a plain seared whitefish into something amazing. Same with the appetizers... they were cooked well and presented well but were just too plain. It had been 10 years since we had been there and I am afraid it may be another 10 before I go back."

  • "The Grouper dinner with the Vodka tomato sauce was really tasteful nicely done I enjoyed it. The catch of the day Tile fish was ok but was a bit salty and had a fishy taste but overall it was ok and was done up nicely. This restaurant is truly a very nice date night restaurant or special occasions. "

  • "My boyfriend and I came in to celebrate our one year anniversary. We were seated before our reservation time, which was awesome. The hostess was very pretty and nice. Our server was on point the entire evening. He even brought us a complementary dessert. The scenic view was nice and the wine list was legit. This place is outstanding."

  • "I live on the water, fish often and enjoy dining on fresh fish. On Saturday took my wife to one fish two fish for her B'day. The special was black grouper. I ordered the special. The grouper was excellent. The fish was prepared perfectly, the taste demonstrated the freshness of the fish and the serving size was generous. Best fish dish I have enjoyed in the Virginia Beach area."

  • "Great view from 3 sides of the restaurant. But not my casual weekend dining experience. This place would (for me) be reserved for special occasions. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and efficient and food was excellent. Premium prices though. But it was worth it."

  • "Dined here a couple years ago and was very favorably impressed. Apparently, it's under different management now. The hostesses all lacked courtesy. The bar area reaches well into the dining area making for noisy dining; not customers enjoying the bar type of noise, rather clanking dishes and busy waiter type of noise. In summary, went from a fine dining experience in a pleasant atmosphere with personalized service to just another restaurant appealing to pop culture. We'll go elsewhere next time we're looking for a romantic and classy restaurant experience. "

  • "One Fish Two Fish continues to be one of the best restaurants in the area. I have traveled all over the world and this restaurant is still some of the best food I have had. The crab bisque has great flavor, plenty of crab in each bite, and leaves you wanting more. I am happy the Tuna Tataki has survived menu updates and is still my go to appetizer. With the kitchen in full view I noticed that most of the kitchen staff is new from just a couple years ago. Even though the cooks are new, the quality has been maintained. My only gripe was watching the dessert cook with a large stir stick hanging out of his mouth while he prepared my dessert. That was not professional or appetizing in such a classy place."
