I was here with a party of 6 adults and one toddler. With child in tow, we opted for an early dinner at 5:00 so we wouldn't disturb other diners. Tables were not close together and that was refreshing! There are two levels. We sat upstairs. I had the duck breast. Others had the filet special and breaded fish. Delish! The breaded fish changes per supply I guess. That night it was catfish. One loved it. The other didn't. That's a personal taste and not the problem of the restaurant. The bread was warm and served with garlic butter. I opted to pay $4 extra and got a mini cup of soup and side salad. Both were perfect size and tasted wonderful with their garlic ranch dressing. YUM! Try it!

A friend and I have been making the nearly two hour drive to 111 Main each Spring through Autumn for the chef's special locally sourced foods. We both chose the wild boar and were delighted that we found our first experience with it to be delicious. There are many restaurants we enjoy in Galena but 111 keeps dragging us back in with the chef's inventive menu and the friendly, caring staff. And did I mention the wine list and great Mojitos?

Very poor service. The restaurant did not seem to be full and we were seated upstairs. We had a group of 12 and constantly had to ask for more drinks and water. I ordered a NY strip medium and it was served bright red, completely rare. When we told the server that it was not medium she replied with "no, its not." and WALKED AWAY! On the way out we let the hostess know our service was horrible and how disappointed we were witht he food and she said "oh, I'm sorry to hear that" no one ever offered to get a manager and we never saw one to talk to. So disappointed after all the great reviews on the Galena websites.

Enjoying a great meal at 111 Main during a November 2013 trip, we looked forward to our return. But, this time there seemed to be less of everything, perhaps greater attention to "the bottom line": a less-inspired salad (extra $5); smaller portions in a repeat entree (walleye at $22), which seemed less-well prepared; and the bread, almost forgotten but delivered late, consisted of one-half of a lightweight pretzel-top style roll. The 2 blacked (?) catfish pieces were small (at $21), despite an overly-large serving of rice pilaf. The small amount of added carrot/cherry slaw was great, the two small shrimp o k, the too-spicy sausage overwhelmed the dish. The shared dessert (apple-pumpkin cake at $7), however, was huge and nicely sauced.

We had a nice time but the waiter would not split up the tab. This does not work for some couples because we all pay different and financially live different. With the world of technology that we live in, there should never be an excuse I can't split the tab. Have your computer system setup that it can take multiple couples for one table. With the group we had, unless this changes, they will not come back.

111 Main was recommended by a resident of Galena. We were celebrating my husband's 70th birthday so I wanted the dinner to be special. Had the reservation well in advance, and we were seated in the bar are. Very intimate! My husband had the walleye which he said was fine, and I had the NY strip/shrimp combination. Steak was tough, and shrimp were buried in mashed potatoes. Was not a good all around dining experience.

We like that this restaurant uses local foods. We got the cheese fondue which could be a meal in itself for a vegetarian. We both got the walleye, I like a little more zip to my food, but the fish had nice flavor, the rice pilaf was a little bland for my taste. Staff could not be nicer.

Had difficulty finding a restaurant that was open for Dinner on Labor Day in Galena. Received this recommendation from a few people that worked in Galena. We had a wonderful steak dinner. The quality of the food and the preparation were excellent. I had called and told them that it was my girlfriend's birthday and they prepared a nice card on the table for her when we arrived. Very classy.

Had the 4 course local flavors menu. $60 per person. The first 2 courses and the desert courses were excellent. The entree course was just okay, not what I expected for the price and a their focus on local flavors. Interior very warm and inviting. Wine list was adequate. Server was very new and had to be prompted to suggest the specials and asked about the local flavors menu.

I typically do not like writing negative reviews, but our experience warranted one. The hostess was extremely warm and pleasant, & then it was downhill from there. The restaurant was not super busy, so that should've been our cue, but it was rated well & the ambiance was great, so we were excited about the potential. Then our server, Alyssa, arrived. She started ok, but quickly turned & was obviously annoyed anytime we needed her assistance. I had the Pork Special, my wife had the Walleye, my daughter had the chicken fingers and my son had the macaroni & cheese, which was the best meal at the table. The pork was very fatty, the fish was overcooked & the accompanying rice was bland, & the chicken fingers were hard & dry. Not a good meal.

I took the wife on a weekend get a way and found this spot. The food was good. The only things lacking was the waitress never seemed to be there with her service taking a bit, the other is they should have a dress code such as no flip flops. I can understand wanting to bring in the tourists, but the menu doesn't reflect the dress in the restaurant.

My wife and I ate there over the Labor Day weekend on a Saturday nite. I picked the place because we were attending the Mark Twain show that is upstairs in the same building. Big mistake. I selected the highly touted special "Grilled Skewers" from a local beef artisan. Sounded great -- well, ever left a piece of meat on the grill and forgot about it? That described my meal. So overcooked and dry the one bite I did try sucked all the moisture out of my mouth in two chews. Just awful. Of course I returned it and shared my wife's rubbery ravioli. The dessert was the highlight of the evening. So go there later, but definitelly skip this place for the main course.

We have always loved eating at One Eleven Main, but this time the experience was lacking. Our server did not tell us about the specials (we had to ask after a long wait), was very slow, and did not seem too motivated to check on us. The food was, sadly and surprisingly, not up to the usual par of One Eleven Main. My husband had very bland, stringy pot roast, and I had very blah trout with a breading that can only be described as "school cafeteria-like." We left feeling hungry and dissatisfied. There was one bright spot, and that was our bartender who made us a fantastic pitcher of sangria. If not for the sangria, the experience would have been one star.

We arrived a bit early, but were seated upon arrival. The waitress gave us time to review wine list before asking if we would be interested in something to drink. The food we ordered was cooked to our desire and arrived in a reasonable amount of time. We don't often order dessert but that evening did and was excellent as well. Overall a great experience!

We made reservations for Sat. night at 6:45. We arrived at 6:30 expecting to have a drink at the bar and wait for our table. We were seated immediately and surprised to see the restaurant almost empty. We were seated against the wall with no view of the windows. I mentioned to our server that it was our anniversary and felt that she wasn't at all interested in being there. Our service was very slow which was ok as we were hoping to extend our meal out as it was a special occasion. My husbands food was as ordered and very good, my steak was not cooked to order or trimmed very well and the shrimp was only half shelled. I was never asked for my drink order. We would likely not dine here again.

I selected this restaurant based on the great reviews for a "farm to table" experience. I sent them a note via open table that I wanted to celebrate both my husband's birthday and our anniversary,I then visited the restaurant the day before and spoke to the hostess. She told me that it would be taken care of. I was surprised when we were sat in a part of the restaurant that had been set up for a bachlorette party. Now, I went to speak privately to the waiter, and he said he would do his best.It was too loud, the food order was wrong, and when I ask to see the manager, they sent up the hostess and she told us the manager was too busy with other issues. They told us that they would "comp" a meal that was never eaten, and we left.

Food was just okay. Our server was lacking - many tables that came in after us were done and out before us. We were not served bread - when we asked about it, the server said "it was in the oven" and not available when it should have been served, then he forgot. We ordered dessert - took about 15/20 minutes for it to be served - which is too long.

The atmosphere and look of the restaurant was nice! The staff was very friendly and they have a nice wine and beer list. The cocktails were too sweet though. The fish dish that some ordered was light, flaky and had great flavor. The brisket special that I ordered was overcooked, tough and dry. Other dishes were enjoyed by our group like the brisket sandwich and the fish and chips. Overall, it was a good experience.

The restaurant is nicely laid out and the portraits of local artists/artisans was a wonderful touch. Service was friendly and professional by all members of the staff. Unfortunately, all of our meals were lackluster at best. My dish was the trout special. The trout was nestled on a bland bed of rise with a sauce that had wilted from sitting too long- trout was slightly over cooked (mildly dry) The vegetable side amounted to three disks of squash.

We enjoyed outstanding service and atmosphere at this restaurant. I had the walleye which was very good. I was hoping to see wine on the wine list from the four local wineries in the Galena area but did not. The menu offered a great selection, however it made me question how much of the food was derived from the local area as the restaurant claims.

I had very high hopes for this venue. It's a standout among the other pubs lining Main Street in busy Galena on a summer Saturday night. The portabella mushroom appetizer was amazing. My broiled walleye over smashed potatoes with garlic broccoli was excellent. The flour less chocolate cake was smothered in ganache with just the right size dollop if vanilla bean ice cream from a local dairy. I have to disclose that the air conditioning was not working adequately. We were seated at a table near the bar and it did get noisy. And sad to say my husbands salad came with small ants. He waved down the busboy who could not have been more gracious and apologetic. It's wonderful to source everything locally but you still have to wash the produce!;)
