  • "This place was really great, wish it was closer to me. The service was excellent, the menu varied and our meals were very, very good. the wine list was nice and the specials were great too. I had the scallops in the broth and they were cooked perfectly, not overcooked at all, the broth had a great flavor. I had the grilled calamari appetizer which was good, but very spicy. I will return when I am meeting my friend for dinner who lives in Lawrenceville, nice central meeting place. I hope the residents who live in Rocky Hill and Hillsborough enjoy this place."

  • "This was our second time dining at One 53. I was hesitant to go back because even though I enjoyed my first visit, I found it to be too expensive. ( A very simple, small pasta dish, with no high end proteins was over $24). However with this visit I thought the prices were more in-line with the quality and portions. The blood orange margarita was very good. The grilled calamari was fantastic and the cassoulet, excellent. Glad we went back."

  • "My husband and I have been coming here for years. Small dining room and could probably be alittle more chic but the food is always a slam dunk! You must have their mussels and ask for extra toast. The mushroom soup is to die for as are most of their soups and their chops are consistently cooked perfectly. Salmon is always good as well. Nice wine list and their male bartender makes a Cosmo better than anywhere! Service is always very attentive without being intrusive"

  • "My husband and I dined here on March 19. We loved this place when it first opened. We slowly stopped going, as the prices escalated and the portions shrunk. The balanced wine list became pricey. After a long absence we tried One53 again. We split the Kale Salad, which was tasty but tiny. I had the calamari (tender) and my husband had the Sweetbreads : "unremarkable-no flavor." I had the Flat Iron Steak, cooked medium rare as ordered. My husband had the Strip Steak, which was prepared rare as he liked. To our surprise the fries, which used to be crisp and delicious EVERY time, were soft and chewy. Bummer! We finished with coffee (good) and the bread pudding-decent. Try " The Pass" in Rosemont...perhaps One53 should take notes from them?"

  • "When we arrived this past Saturday we were pleasantly surprised to find that One53 added valet parking. We have been avoiding the restaurant because we don't like their parking lot; especially in the winter when snow is on the ground. We were greeted by very friendly staff and started with the escargot and house salad. The escargot is awesome and we highly recommend it, The salad very fresh. I ordered the grilled pork chop and my wife the skate. Both tasted great but a small section of my pork chop was underdone. Our server was great and very knowledgeable. Our only real complaint is the seating. At prices that are at the top of many high end restaurants you would think the space between tables would be more than a few inches."

  • "My hubby and I had a great experience at ONE 53 this past weekend. We split the brussels sprouts and cranberry salad, which was a delightful take on sprouts. It was delicious. My pork chop was perfectly prepared and my husband loved his strip steak. The chimichurri sauce is to die for, as always, and the french fries are always perfectly crispy. The mac and cheese side dish is creamy and delicious. We enjoyed the gingerbread cookies on the way out, too! We would definitely return."

  • "My wife and I enjoy dinner sitting at a bar and One 53 has a great bartender and a friendly group of clientele. Always enjoy a night here. The food is very good, my only complaint is that the menu changes infrequently -- so I end up eating the same dishes. They do a great job with the wine list -- especially wines by the glass -- so we are always finding something new we enjoy. If we cant get a seat at the bar we will grab a table -- its a NY style with lots of tables in a small space -- with a good vibe. Service is always good as well. Lots to like at One 53!"

  • "One 53 has been a favorite for years. It's a bit high on the price side for date night between two people in their mid 20s but the experience is always great. This year we went for Valentine's Day. The only complaint was that they ran out of a couple dishes we wanted to order, then again it was a solidly booked night. Our waiter was great, attentive but not too so. It's not a big place and tables are close, which gives good energy but not much privacy. Drinks were good, as was dessert. This is our once a year treat to ourselves, recommended for a nice night out."

The staff knows their stuff, friendly, professional, and clearly taken from the arts community where they care about the food and are glad to be working while they pursue other intellectual interests. Fortunately we were seated at a table in a less traveled area, but around the corner some tables are very close to standing room at the bar. Clearly a popular location.   • "I strongly recommend using open table to get a reservation. We came in at 5:15pm and were able to beat the rush. When we left after dessert around 6:30, the restaurant was packed. 153 is a warm, delightful, and romantic place to dine. The wait staff are very attentive and anticipate diners' needs. Upon entering, you're greeted by a beautiful, modern bar and cozy, intimate seating. We had the house specials: rabbit in bacon and the short ribs and really enjoyed the flavors and attention to detail. We also shared the mussels, the sauce it came in tasted amazing. They also have an extensive wine list and I highly recommend the signature drink 153. We can't wait to return to this neighborhood gem."

  • "After a friendly greeting at the door by the restaurant's General Manager we were escorted to our table. The restaurant was busy yet not loud and had a fantastic energy about it. Our server greeted us promptly, was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and happily accommodated my wife's request for a different side. I had the butternut squash ravioli for an appetizer and my wife had the mushroom soup. They were both delicious! We followed that up with an outstanding cassoulet for dinner and what my wife described as the best burger she's ever had (The ONE 53 burger). Grilled pound cake with vanilla ice cream for dessert along with the last sip of our great Cabernet wrapped up a PERFECT night. ONE53 gives you 153 reasons to come back!"

And we closed the restaurant down we were the last two in the restaurant. They left the restaurant open for us while we sat and talked after dessert."
