  • "Wonderful food, wine, ambience, service - the works! Never disappointed in Ombra - one of our spots each time we travel to HHI. Ned is the best and we always we request him as our waiter!!!"

  • "We had been here with our young children and loved it so came back for date night. Our waiter, Ned, took our dining experience up a notch. We chose our main course and he made excellent suggestions on wine pairing, 1st course and even dessert. Ned was wonderful, food was fabulous, great ambiance... - best date night in a long time!! We'll definitely be back again and ask for Ned."

  • "This was our first visit, but it will not be the last. Great food and a good Italian wine list too. Service good, but a little more attention to detail will put this one in the elite class for Hilton Head."

  • "Very tasty - savored every bite. Expensive- that's why I gave 4 stars."

  • "Had a great experience dining here the other night. Ned, our waiter, definitely made the experience great! Food was outstanding, as usual. Love this place!"

  • "Four of us gave Ombra's a try for dinner this week and were pleased with the results. The caprese salad was very good though the mozzarella was not made from buffalo milk. The sea bass served over a red sea of chopped tomatoes and black olives was excellent. Our bread basket was refilled on demand despite my wife's caution that I should not be a glutton. Prices were fairly high compared to several more casual Italian restaurants on Hilton Head."

  • "I was surprised that there was no children's menu at this local Italian restaurant in a strip mall. I was also surprised they charged an adult meal price for a child!! Outrageous! I appreciate that they accommodated us by preparing chicken cutlets for my son but then charging us $24 for it was unprofessional. However, the restaurant was full and my specialty pasta was good. I would say go and see if you enjoy their cooking as I think you would."

  • "Everyone in my group absolutely loved everything they ordered. Appetizers, entrees and desserts were all incredible. Highly recommend the risotto with truffle oil - and go for the full serving instead of the half!"

  • "Excellent service! Our salads were beautiful and delicious. Our party had sea bass, puttanesca, and ravioli. Each dish was nicely prepared and very good. For my personal taste, the ravioli was served in a bit too much butter...in Italy, butter is rarely used. The restaurant is spaced nicely and not too dark or too casual. We will definitely be returning."

  • "Nunzio, Michael and their staff have a gem. We could have been in South Philly, neighborhood restaurants in Manhattan, no we were actually on our beloved Hilton Head Island. At a destination where restaurants keep getting better and better, Ombra is right at the top. Authentic, fresh Italian food. Enough "favorites" balanced with creative newer presentations. Anyone should surely go!"

  • "brought some folks from Pittsburg and they could not stop exclaiming how fabulous everything was from the appetizer to the limoncello!"

  • "First time at Ombra - will be a regular visit each year when returning to Hilton Head"
    Dined on 3/10/2014
  • "We didn't expect the three course, prix fixe menu at $26.99 would be our only option with the early bird coupon we had, but we went with it. The selections were very good for salads, entrees, and desserts. The beet salad was our favorite first course. This is a quiet adult restaurant with lovely Italian atmosphere. The service was very good and timely, and all of our courses were beautifully presented. Loved the orange sorbet! The drinks and wines were pricey even for HH."

  • "Went March 8, 2014 for my husband's birthday dinner. We travel and dine out frequently so have a fair experience for comparison. Staff were so friendly & professional. It was obvious that many were regulars & invited back to see chef Marc Anthony. Encrusted lamb in a merlot sauce was the most tender I had ever tasted! The homemade gnocchi in a gorganzola mushroom sauce divine with very complimentary subtle flavours! Scallops - wow! Finished off with homemade Limoncello - perfect compliment to a perfect evening. Just wish we had room for dessert it looked delicious & others were enjoying theirs immensely. Next time!"

  • "My food was OUTSTANDING - seafood special over linguine. Seafood was PERFECTLY cooked & included 1/2 lobster, scollops, shrimp & mussels, exquisite sauce, very good/fresh ceasaer salad with huge ribbons of shaved parmasean. On the other side of the table my husband (who remained silent about this in error so that nothing could be done about it) had veal chop that was dry, not well seasoned and tough. Nor did he like the sides which he said in the parking lot afterwards, were not well seasoned. Well you get what you don't say anything about. OH ! The WINE list was special and we chose a lovely red - Seghisio - that was outstanding and well priced."

  • "Moved here full time last year and we have a lot of favorites, so took us a while to finally. Everything that was told to us was true. Too many things to chose from but we ended up splitting a pasta appetizer, fusilli was awesome, almost wanted to cancel dinner and other another. But, it was a good thing we did not, we had the chicken and the veal and one was better than the other. Will definitely come often!"

  • "Great food and service. Took some friends from Pauley's Island. Wonderful evening!"

  • "Been here twice over two years. Food always good but noise level too high to permit conversation. First time we were at the rear of the place. This time next to the bar. This is particularly hard for men who have even the smallest amount of hearing loss. We like to eat around 7:30 but maybe this is a particularly noisy time."

  • "We enjoyed our dinner and will return frequently. The food was excellent. It was great to find a restaurant were there are size options for the entrees. Be sure to have dessert."
    Dined on 2/27/2014
  • "We have dined at Ombra twice now and both times the food has been very good. Service was friendly and competent and our only slight complaint would be that on both occasions we have been seated in the bar area rather than the main dining room. The calamari were good as was the veal and the pasta. we will probably go back again."

  • "Was very loud. Sat a 2 person table very close, too close to 2 person table so didnt want to talk loud because wanted some privacy but then the person I was with couldnt't hear me because of noise from around corner wall, other tables, etc."

  • "This restaurant has a good reputation in the community, and for good reason. It is pleasant, the wait staff is helpful, and the food is very good. It is a bit pricey, but worth it."
    Dined on 2/19/2014
  • "thought the restaurant appered to be a little bit production oriented. i.e. it appeared looking at the entrees served all had mashed potatoes In addition I thought all the sauces sort of over powered the food instead of enhancing the flavor of the food."

  • "Chose Ombre to celebrated Valentine's Day and our 55th wedding anniversary; we were not disappointed. Dinner was served timely and was excellent. The pasta here is outstanding! We both had the veal scallopine. Having had the beet salad previously, would definitely recommend it. My only complaint is the hard ceiling and floor making the room noisy. I think it is one of the very best in a pool of very good Hilton Head Restaurants."

  • "This is one of our favorites. Very busy Valentine's Day, but service and food were outstanding. I had the Branzino special which was delicious."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "This was our third dining experience at Ombra to celebrate Valentine's Day with best friends. The first two visits were birthday parties for groups of 12-14. In all cases the food was fantastic, and the service was attentive, responsive and timely. Noteworthy dishes that we enjoyed most recently were veal scaloppine, gnocchi and Mediterranean Sea bass. On the other hand, the stuffed lobster ravioli with cognac was disappointing. The wine list is exceptional with an abundant array of choices from Italy and a few from California."

  • "Ombra Cucina Rustica is, one of the two best restaurants on Hilton Head Island. Food and service were great as always."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "Well structured menu more similar to an Italian italian restaurant than the usual American italian restaurant (even the very good ones). This was our second time here ---- picked by my wife for her birthday. Food is consistently excellent; service is nicely paced but will be too slow for some. Upscale trattoria feel. Great wine list ---- some will think it is very expensive, but there are some excellent finds at "everyday" prices, and if you are looking for something special, you will find it here."

  • "Food was quite good; wine expensive; had a noisy group of perhaps 20, made dining problematic; asked to be relocated"
    Dined on 2/10/2014
  • "I ordered the Red Snapper and it was very over-cooked extremely dry, burned on the edges and very chewy. For the price I think they could do a lot better. The other meal was the Bolognese and it was very good, definitely better than the Snapper. Waiter was nice and attentive. Dessert was very good. I said I would recommend but I would be hesitant in doing so. There is another Hilton Head Italian Restaurant that is far better than this one but not open on Sundays."

  • "Another great find in a "shopping village." Made last-minute reservations here based on a recommendation from a fellow golfer. So happy we did! The service was excellent, the food exceptional. My husband and I had veal and chicken respectively so can't comment on any pasta dishes but we thoroughly enjoyed our meals. We loved our table for two in a quiet spot--some of the other areas did seem a bit noisier but it was a busy Saturday night!."

  • "There for HHI Restaurant Week. Food OK. Nothing special. The carpaccio and prosciutto were plated early in the day and looked it. The seafood pasta (where do you get scallops the size of jelly beans?) and the veal (heavily sauced) were OK. The deserts were good. Noise level about the same as last visit."
    Dined on 2/7/2014
  • "Though the noise level at this restaurant might best be described as "energetic', we were able to enjoy a delightful & romantic meal at OMBRA. The staff was welcoming, service was both friendly & attentive , and best of all The Food was truly Very Good ! Fresh ingredients, artful preparation & nice service; can't ask for much more than that. Look forward to a return visit."

  • "We visited Ombra during Restaurant Week and were very pleased. The menu had lots of great items to choose from despite being a limited one for restaurant week. The Lobster bisque was nice and creamy and had good lobster flavor. The veal was tender and the sauce was seasoned just right. Finished with Panna Cotta which was superb. Service was great - we asked to move to a table away from a breeze and there was no problem moving our glasses, etc. to a nicer, cozier table in the corner. We will definitely return."

  • "Calamari was melt in your mouth tender!! Bolognese sauce was meaty and flavorful! Sat at table in bar area, service was great. Only drawback was the cold air coming in every time front door was opened."

  • "Food was good but felt menu a little limited, know it was restaurant week but some of the choices were not appealing. Service good. Had a very relaxing evening did not feel rushed. Nice atmosphere."

  • "We visited Ombra with another couple for the kick-off of Hilton Head's Restaurant week, and this place did it up right! We were warmly welcomed at the door and seated promptly. Some restuarants act as though patrons for Restaurant Week are a bother-not so here, and the selections were outstanding on the special menu. Service was professional and prompt, presentation lovely and the food delish! The atmosphere is lively and tables are fairly close together but it adds up to a place where people are having a good time and enjoying the experience. We will definitely come again."

  • "I have eaten many places in Europe and New York, the food preparation and choice for an Italian restaurant is one of the best. We had fish, veal, salads and carpaccio (cured and melts in the mouth). Wonderful Italian wine. And if you like a great martini, they have that too. Bravo!"
