A word from Olympic Provisions Northwest
Olympic Provisions Northwest is the convivial west-side answer to our intimate Southeast location. Marked by a string of patio lights on an otherwise industrial stretch of NW Thurman, OPNW offers a menu of lovely rustic European-inspired fare in a warm, windowed setting, accentuated by our antique French rotisserie.

Thomas Keller-trained Colin Stafford comes to Olympic Provisions Northwest after serving as the Sous Chef for Alex Yoder at our southeast location since March of 2011. It was Stafford’s stint at Bouchon, the sister of Thomas Keller’s legendary restaurant French Laundry, where Stafford learned the meticulousness and attention to detail that instilled in him to make every dish the best he possibly can.

Come in to OPNW for happy hour and warm yourself with a few of our craft cocktails. You’ll find yourself staying for dinner amongst a friendly crowd, where you might hear the strains of old funk and soul mixed with blues and local bands.

I loved my lamb shank but it was definitely too salty for me. The board was good as was dessert. But the highlight of our visit was the sensational service by Katy - how professional! One of our party was not the easiest guest to please, but Katy was up to the task. I bought some Kielbasa on the way out and it was great at home. Great staff - I recommend it to all."

  • "My husband started with a sausage and then had a prime rib, which he said was great. I'm not a meat eater so I had a citrus salad and halibut, which was also great! I like how you can get a pint of wine instead of a glass, 2 oz. more for $2. Good service too!"

  • "My husband and I went here to celebrate on Friday night. We can hands-down say it was the best dinner we have ever had out. We had an Italian charcuterie plate, amazing drinks, and meals to die for. I had the lamb shank and my husband ordered half a chicken. This type of restaurant is our of our price range on a normal day, but for this celebration we thought it was worth every penny. Thanks for the lovely dinning experience, Olympic Provisions!"

The wines are carefully selected, interesting, and most importantly...good! What an addition to dining in NW Portland! The space is small and simple but has a great, homey--yet special, friendly feel."

  • "if you are into charcuterie - this is probably a great place to go for happy hour or late afternoon nibble. Dinner on the other hand I am not sure - the dining table space is really poorly laid out - so unfortunately 2 of the 2 tops are in the path of everyone from servers to other customers - thats where we were seated. I had the true cod - strange combination of cold potatoe salad with pickled items with the small hot cod. It wasn't 'bad' just not my taste. The other entree was the 1/2 rotisserie chicken which was pretty good."

  • "This was an amazing evening out in Northwest Portland, and one that my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed. The restaurant is small but in a very unique and homey feel. The location provides a ton of free curb parking, and the service was quick and experienced. Our waiter made great recommendations, and the food was delicious. While it was pricey for us (two graduate students), it was the perfect place to have a nice dinner out."

  • "When my husband suggested this restaurant, I was a bit turned off thinking it was just charcuterie. While their charcuterie plates are excellent, I'm still remembering the lamb shoulder we had. It was so yummy--crips and crackly on the outside and juicy and tender inside. It was sooo good. A simple salad was so fresh and crisp that it too was memorable. We had the charcuterie (I think the French one) which was very good and then we split the salad and lamb. Dessert was really good also. More than enough food. Interesting bar drinks also."

  • "This place was FANTASTIC! I've tried very many variations of chorizo, salamis and they had the best meats, rabbit pate I've ever had! Their wine list is amazing with all of the most notable wines out there especially the hot local ones. Food was overall amazing, and I rated it less than a five because my lamb was good but the grains under weren't my favorite! Overall, definitely going to come back and recommend to friends! Service was exceptional as well!"

  • "I went to Olympic Provisions on New Year's Eve quite late at 9:45 as, surprisingly, they had a few reservations slot open. My two friends and I had one of the loveliest meals in recent memory. The cheese + charcuterie board was excellent as always but we were blown away at how delicious our entrees were, especially the prime rib. I usually go here for their delicious brunches but my New Year's resolution for 2014 is to come here more often for dinner also as I am never disappointed and always feel like I had an amazing fine dining experience."

The beverage list was excellent, not expansive but everything on it was well chosen and the service was top notch and attentive without being annoying. My only reason for the 4 star rating vs a 5 are the main entrees and dessert. These were good, very good, but not excellent, especially for the price point. We've eaten here a few times recently and it's the same each time, the cassoulet, lamb, prime rib, chicken but I have to say I had the ricotta gnocchi this last time and it was excellent, that was worthy of a five star. The restaurant is small but it works, it can get a little loud if you're looking for a romantic evening but good for friends or a night out."

Very good food, but given the amount of charcuterie on the menu, the bread is a striking disappointment-flavorless, dry and cut in small rounds. This is a menu that demands great bread.   • "We loved our food. You can watch the chefs prepare right behind the counter, which is really cool until- seriously- you see the guy lick the spoon he is using.!!! Lick, dip in hot water, scoop, plop, lick spoon again.. Then repeat. We saw two different chefs lick their spoons. Is this something normal and we just weren't aware of it? I thought about mentioning it to the manager but he was seriously standing right in front of the chef so I know he saw and it was obvious he didn't care. I thought about mentioning it to our server but she made us feel like we were pretty dumb for not understanding what a lot of things in the menu were. So instead I will mention it here on Open Table!!!"

  • "While located outside the trendy Pearl District, this Olympic Provisions location is a great place for dinner that's a notch above a regular evening dining out. The food is great and the menu has a wide variety of offerings, even if the number is necessarily limited. The wine list is extensive, offering a broad range of boutique wineries. I also like the option of a "quartino," between a glass and a full bottle. They also offer a fantastic variety of charcuterie to take home. It is small and the tables are fairly close, if that's an issue for you. The chairs are metal and can be a bit uncomfortable after a while."

  • "We were a little surprised to walk in and see how small it was, but after getting settled enjoyed having the chefs right there so that we could watch them--the waiter was superb!! very attentive and friendly but not overbearing--the only thing unusual was that we ordered soup for a starter and it came with the main meal--next time will ask that the starter come earlier--rotisserie prime rib was butter tender and the horseradish butter really made the dish--we will go back to try other things on their diverse menu"

  • "We usually go to the location in SE but they were booked so we tried this one. Our waiter was extremely professional and funny as well. Next time I think I would sit at the bar and watch the masters make the food. To start off we ordered the chef's choice charcuterie plate and for dinner I had the chicken and my wife had the Basque Piperad. Both of our dishes were so delicious and just an overall special evening. Thanks, OP!"

I recommend the rabbit confit and a glass of Valpolicella with someone you love. When they light the candles at night, this deli transforms into a romantic cafe that you won't want to miss."

  • "Salumist, Elias Cairo, has brought his "old World" craft to the masses. Everything is handmade/handcrafted with care and flavors from generations before. While we stayed in Portland, OR for 2 weeks, we managed to dine at both locations for a total of 3 times.The Spanish and Chef's choice boards are great ways to start your meal paired with either local and imported beers or wines.The rotisserie Prime Rib was perfectly done and seasoned well.Crispy Skin Rockfish was light, flaky and moist.Luckily, blueberries were in season-the blueberry handpie with hazelnut ice cream completed our meal. Wished we could have eaten more... We went in for early dinner and beat the crowd."
