OlivadiIt's all goodOK - I admit it, I am very tight with my "outstanding" ratings - a place has to be very, very special for me to go to that level. BUT, Olivadi does not miss by much. The food was really quite good. My appetizer of mussels could have been a tad more lively but was still very good, and the pork chop was as good as any I have had anywhere. The atmosphere is quite nice though nothing out of the ordinary - as good as one would expect in a neighborhood setting. I liked the partially open kitchen. Using OpenTable didn't give me the reservation time that I wanted (5:15pm). When we arrived at the restaurant, there was many seats available for the time that I would have wanted (6 pm). It has many Italian favorites but not your Southern Italian red sauces although there is a Bolognese that will satisfy. Interesting flavors and very satisfying. There was a vibrant bar scene. We didn't sit outside but noticed an outdoor area off of the bar. We saw lots of couples on dates. The noise level was humming but we never felt that we couldn't hear each other. Nice room. chicken parmesan especially). The service the first couple of times was not that great and we hesitated before going back.
But they seem to have new wait staff who are professional and friendly but not overbearing.
The bar is a good place to have a casual lunch and in the evenings is very lively. The restaurant has a pleasant ambiance
(we went for our anniversary). They do have outdoor seating which we have not tried yet. It does face the street so don't
know how noisy it would be.

We opted to sit at the the bar, so the ratings with this review reflect the atmosphere on the bar side of the restaurant; however the dining room did look warm and romantic.
The bar scene was upbeat without being overbearing -- a great spot to share a couple drinks and appetizers (or entrees) as you wind down after the work week. Our bartender was attentive, but we never felt rushed. We tried the bruschetta, mussels, and orecchiette. All very delicious and nice size portions; although we could have skipped the bruschetta as the house bread and dip is quite good.

I highly recommend the wild mushroom risotto, the tagliatelle bolognese and the meatballs. Ask for the fresh Parmesan cheese. It is really outstanding.
