A word from Olio Pizzeria
Olio Pizzeria, opened in July 2010, is a causal pizza bar/salumi bar/wine bar/full bar which was inspired by the myriad neighborhood pizzerie and enoteche (wine bars) found around the corner from just about every piazza in Italy. This idea began to take shape before Alberto and Elaine Morello even opened Olio e Limone Ristorante, their fine dining Italian restaurant next door, in 1999. Wine bars serving boutique salumi and formaggi are all the rage in Italy, as is a new regionalism which they are excited to share with you. Sicily is an emerging powerhouse, and touches of Sicilian food and wine delight their guests. You’ll also find exciting tastes from Campania and other emerging regions on their menus, wine and beer lists. Join Olio Pizzeria for private dining for up to 32, group dining, or send an inquiry regarding catering. Buon appetito!Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "We started with fried artichokes and the fried calamari, black in the squid ink, and with a yummy garlicky sauce. All delicious. Then we had the Umbria pizza. Others in our party had the margarita pizza and the capricciosa pizza. We also had a locale salad and a beet salad. Again just wonderful. You can't go wrong. The waiters will help you decide. Thin crispy crust and delicious toppings. Don't skip the Umbria pizza. It is to die for! "

  • "Visiting the S.B. area and discovered this great place. The Calamari de Nigro was fantastic! Our pizza was also very good. We will be back!"

  • "I lived in Italy for 5 years and Olio Pizzeria is the closest I have come to being in a lively pizzeria restaurant there. Every dish was better than the next, service was excellent. The Umbra pizza with black truffles was out of this world, and the cauliflower appetizer was like nothing I have tasted before. Blended with the cool ambience of Santa Barbara, this place is my new favorite and I will definitely be going back and recommending to all. Don't miss it!"

  • "Best pizza in town - bar none. And don't forget the artichoke salad to start, with extra dressing....you go to heaven."

  • "Where we go in Santa Barbara for really great Pizza. The wine and drink selections are great and the selections for other than Pizza, such as salads are great."

  • "It's not always easy to be gluten free, but the menu at Olio Pizzaria makes it easy! I especially love their gluten free pizza crust. Major props to all the servers, they do a great job."

  • "perfect as usual, with the exception of our waitress. must have been new- far from usual standard of service we have come to expect."

  • "Oh my, next time I go I am having the butterscotch budino first. Everything was wonderful. The fried cauliflower was just perfect the coating was light and airy - I could have made a meal out of it. I ordered the fennel sausage and sweet onion pizza - I don't like tomato sauce and WHAT a JOY! I didn't have much room left but I always want dessert so I ordered the butterscotch pudding and it was out of the world - HEAVEN. I want to marry the chef."

  • "Took 30 minutes to get a drink. Unfortunately for us, our waiter was brand-new and didn't quite know what he was doing."

  • "We had a nice birthday experience at Olio e Limone pizzeria. Though they don't take reservations, they do allow you to be waitlisted online, which was great as we drove up from San Jose, CA. We had a party of 6 plus 3 children. They reserved us a table in a small back room with the restroom attached. Would have been nice if it weren't in the room, but it was partially covered by a curtain so it wasn't too bad. They were very good to the kids and made every effort to keep them happy. I had to look for our waiter a few times, but it wasn't that he was taking so long, it was just that I couldn't wait for him. I didn't agree with the cake cutting fee as I cut my own, but it wasn't the end of the world either. Overall good times!"

  • "Love the freshness and the food is very authentic and tasty. Pizza and salads are the choices but it is a pizzeria. Too many meat choices for my liking but staff is very accommodating to mix things up."

  • "Great gourmet style pizza, creative cocktails, good wine list, great service, no wait during the week, they even do a free butterscotch pudding on birthdays which is delicious"

  • "Really good pizza, made in a gas fired oven.. Not wood fired but just as good. Interesting variety as well as the classics like Margarita. Really fun to sit at the counter and watch the incredible orchestrated team."

  • "Truly the best pizza in town. And the artichoke salad will knock you off your rocker (or at least mine!). Go there and enjoy!"

  • "We love this place. The pizzas are delicious! Very creative pies. Nice selection of share-able salads. The appetizers/small plates look delicious, but we've generally only ordered a salad, a pizza and a dessert to share. Great wine list by the glass, 1/4 liter, 1/2 liter or bottle. Desserts are great too."

  • "We had a vegetarian pizza which was good, but definitely not memorable. There weren't many vegetables, especially eggplant, and the flavor of the cheese was not distinctive. I didn't get any herb flavors. My husband's pizza with anchovies was tastier. All in all we were most impressed with the salads, which were delicious, and the desserts which were outstanding as well."

  • "Notwithstanding the reservation one can make here on open table, the restaurant does not honor them. The fine print says that you will simply be put at the top of the waiting list when you arrive. What that meant for us was waiting 30 minutes for a table that we thought we had reserved. It was not the best start to the evening. Then we had the slowest most casually moving waiter I have ever seen in a busy restaurant. It took 15 minutes before we even had an opportunity to flag him down. I like this place okay....expensive for what it is.....but the experience tonight was unacceptable. It really started out badly and I can only blame the restaurant and their policy of not actually honoring open table reservations."

  • "I heard a lot about this place that it had the best pizza but I wasn't amazed or pleased by the food & drinks. I have tasted way better pizza & drinks from different places you need to work a lot more on the flavor and the pizza is too soggy. The only very good thing I enjoyed was the dessert."

  • "Good for a quick meal, simple but good. but be prepared to wait. They don't take reservations, even with Open Table. They just put you to the front of the line and you wait for the first table your size to open up. In our case at 6:30 on a Saturday night that was 20 minutes for a table for four. Not really a problem usually be we had theater tickets for 8:00. We finished in time--left exactly 1 hour after being seated."

  • "Found this gem when I was in Santa Barbara 3yrs ago after a suggestion from our hotel. It was the best Pizza we had every eaten!!!! As we were in Santa Barbara again (Feb 2014) it was an obvious choice for dinner. Good meal, the only negative from the night was the Pizza were a little "soft" on the bottom, possible they needed to stay in the oven for another couple of minutes. Pizza was still full of flavour, and we had a great night. Reasonable price, great food. We were seated within 15 minutes (not bad considering the place was full)"

  • "We were looking for a casual place to have dinner with our college attending son who lives on pizza, burgers and burritos. Based on a recommendation, we made reservations. The restaurant exceed our expectations. Great ambiance, a vibrant menu and quick service. We couldn't have been happier with the choice. The kids devoured their respective pizzas. My wife and I each ordered a tasty and filling chopped salad. You have to try the roasted peach/ginger dessert. The menu offered a wide variety of choices and not limited to pizza. But the place was packed with hungry customers and when we left more were coming in."

  • "The food (great pizzas and salads) and service were great but the noise made it impossible to have a conversation!"

  • "Disappointing overall. Olio Pizzeria doesn't take reservations per se. You are put on a wait-list. I don't think that Open Table makes this as clear as the restaurant's web site. We were seated 45 minutes after our "reservation", and while everyone we dealt with (reception, the bar tender, server and assistant-server) were cheerful and friendly they were all over-worked. The result, from our perspective, was a night out that was more frustrating than fun. The food was fine, but the wait for a pie was way too long. All in all about an hour and 45 minutes for a beer, salad and pizza dinner before a show. I think that the restaurant needs to be more realistic about staffing and oven space for peak times."

  • "I've been to Olio's Pizzeria for a number of occasions so I did not hesitate to go back for a special date night. We waited 20 minutes to get our water glasses filled. Another 20 to have our bottle of wine opened We then said not to because we were so tired of waiting and had decided to leave. The man (not our waitress) kindly offered to give us a complimentary dessert to coerce us into staying, so we did -- then he ran off with our cork. We got a few average appetizers and we ordered a pizza and when we asked to take the rest home with us, they took our pizza and never brought it back. We then ordered a delicious dessert only to be charged for it! I will not be going back... Nor recommending it to any more of my friends."

  • "My husband and I had a rare data night, and we were very happy with our choice of restaurant. We had never been to Olio before, but had heard that the pizza was amazing. We had the margarita DOC and it was great. The artichoke appetizer was also yummy, although a bit doughy for me. Overall the meal was really nice!"

  • "For thin crust Italian pizza Olio is the place to go. Their meats and cheeses are also fantastic - I've had the chef's selection on several occasions and it is always delicious. The black calamari is quite good and though it doesn't affect the flavor adds some visual flair. Also, if you enjoy drinks a bit on the sweeter side the Italian margarita is my go to. One last little tidbit that I give them props for is that they do not close between lunch and dinner. If you are trying to find a good meal for a late lunch this is one of the best options in town."

  • "You can't beat Olio Pizzaria for pie. It is simply the best in town. And every other dish they serve! Go, go and go there!"

  • "Olio Pizzeria has wonderful pizza, great salads as well as varied wine list and lots of unusual beers. The service is excellent. They do not take reservations but do take calls for priority seating. This works well during their busy times - it is a popular place. Going early is a great option as well. We particularly like the pizza with tuna - excellent and loved the one with fennel sausage though we got it with fresh mozzarella instead of the smoked variety. We also shared a butterscotch pudding - doesn't sound Italian but it is wonderful !"

  • "This place is awesome. The pizzas are great. I have never been disappointed with the specials, either! They are always outstanding. The wine list is a little thin. It is very italian-wine heavy, which makes sense for a pizza place, but if you're not into that, there aren't a lot of options. The corkage fee is $20, though, which makes bringing a bottle also a great option. For dessert, if you have room, I highly recommend the butterscotch pudding. The one downside is that the reservations are not really reservations, but a sort of priority list. So sometimes you have to wait. There is no place to wait in the restaurant, as the bar is used for dining. So that means going across the street to the Arlington Tavern for a drink."
