Perhaps my wife and I are too old for this highly rated restaurant. We both found the food to be too busy, too many tastes and textures, and not all that great. Perhaps we ordered incorrectly. Most people around us seemed to be having a selection of mezes. We each ordered a meze and an entree. One of my wife's 3 lamb chops was improperly cooked, the other two were as-ordered, but all were tough. My bluefish, when I could find it under mountains of cabbage and other stuff, was quite good and nicely cooked. The potato side dish was very salty. The service is excellent and the ambience terrific. I wish we had enjoyed the food more as all other aspects of our experience was excellent.

I truly wanted to love the restaurant but at the end it was a let down. Some Dishes seemed like an after thought. The Falafel was impeccable. The chicken zaatar encrusted skin was phenomenal but setting it on a cheese pancake (a mush mess) was just silly. I love Mediterranean when it is elevated and experimented with, but not at the expense of its flavor and delicate balance. The Maamoul desert was a disaster. A good maamoul is crumbly and full pistachio and of rose water flavor cookie. The one at the restaurant lacked the delicious stuffing and the buttery and crumbly shell. The restaurant actually charged for 4 small wedges of pita bread (really). Generosity in the food is lacking and that is the first trait in the Mediterranean cuisine.

The Meze "appetizers" are so delicious and the favors are so unique that we always order 4 or 5 for the two of us to share. And the bread is so yummy! And the wait staff has always been Ifriendly and helpful with our choices. Couldn't ask for a better dining experience.

We ate dinner outside in the back, on a night with perfect weather, so we lucked out. The food (you can order an entree or stick to small plates) seemed impossible to reverse-engineer - my favorite kind. It really opened our eyes to new possibilities. The waitstaff was great - just the right amount of attention - rounding out a perfect date night dinner.

Terrific and creative food. The mixtures of flavors are incredible. Only weakness was we were under the overhang on the patio and it gets VERY HOT there if it is a hot day. My wife was especially hot sitting on the bench. On a hot day/evening, only opt for the patio if you can sit away from the overhang (and hope it won't rain - they do have umbrellas for the tables as well).

I went to Oleana with my boyfriend on a Sunday night. It was less crowded than I expected and we were seated immediately, even though we were early for our reservation (however, that may have been due to the day and the fact that its the summer). All of the hostesses, bartenders, and waitstaff were so friendly, helpful, and knowledgable about the menu - I think we were served/ helped by about 5 different people that night - which was actually a great thing! We each got a different glass of red wine and both were delicious. For dinner we ordered the vegetable tasting menu and the Sultan's delight. All of the food was amazing, the combination of flavors and spices was incredible! I loved every single dish! I can't stop talking about Oleana!

Did not know what to expect but Oleana did not disappoint. Innovative menu and inventive use of fresh ingredients and spices. Everything smelled and tasted just right and balanced. We had a hard time deciding whether to stick with just the small plates or slowly gravitate to the larger fare. We ended up mixing two plates of the larger plates and did not regret the decision. We tried to leave room for desert but failed...oh well we'll just have to make it back next time. If you get a chance on a nice clear summer day try the patio.

My companion cannot eat gluten. The waiter rattled off a confusing list of the items on the menu we could eat -- which made it exceptionally challenging to know what our options were. It seemed that there would be no special accommodations -- for example, it wasn't possible to have the watermelon and feta dish made gluten free. The waiter didn't listen well - any options for something light? he recommends a rich entree. Any options for an earthy wine? he recommends something fruity. We ended up sharing four of the small plates and were very disappointed with two of them - for example, the buttered hummus was tasteless. I appreciate staff were able to make a tasty ice cream dessert for us that was gluten free.

The food was very good, especially the spinach falafel. We ordered mostly mezzes. All of them were great. The medium service score is primarily because it took 30 minutes between the first set of mezzes and the second set of mezzes. Too long!

The food was out of this world. We ordered (and devoured) enough food to feed a small army and were pleasantly surprised by each unique dish that arrived at our table! The baked alaska was the perfect ending to a scrumptious meal. Service was slow (it took 30+ minutes just for us to get drinks) but the food was so good we were willing to overlook that part.

a wonderful evening. We have been coming here for our wedding anniversary celebration for the past "x" number of years, and are never disappointed. This is a special place with special food to delight your palate. It IS a rather expensive outing, so we dress to the nines, order all the specials, indulge in a nice bottle of wine, sit back, forget about the money and just let the magic of Oleana wash over us for an evening. The staff was wonderfully attentive---perhaps because they knew it was our 38th wedding anniversary?---and we left happy and well pleased with our special night out.

We had just been in Turkey this spring and much of the food here was very authentic! We had a great waitress who patiently explained the mezzos and advised as to what would be the right amount of food and what would be too much. On a beautiful summer's evening, we were able to sit on their very pretty and atmospheric patio. It is shaded by large trees and you completely lost sight of the fact that you were in the midst of busy Cambridge. We'll be back, albeit for very special evenings as it is expensive. Oleana is always excellent and Wednesday was no different. Even my 8 year old grandson (who lives in Europe and is a real "foodie") used words such as "magnificent," "superb" and even "divine" as he experienced 8 or 10 different meze plates! An 8-yr old doesn't use those words to describe food very often! Sitting in the garden is just perfect and was worth a bit of a wait. The waitstaff is great -- knowledgable, friendly and efficient. Oleana continues to be a shining star on the local restaurant scene!

The ambience and interior of the restaurant are great. From the moment we entered, I had the feeling that we were being taken care of. Our server was very positive, and had a ton of knowledge about the dishes, ingredients, and wine. I think the seats at the bar would be a great spot for foodies, and the main dining room was great for a romantic date.

One of the reasons to leave your kitchen and head out to a $30 per entree restaurant is the expectation of good food and good service. Oleana is five stars on the former, it's about negative four stars on the second. We arrived for Sunday dinner around 7 PM. We were seated immediately and then sat... and sat... and sat... waiting for 25 minutes until our server stopped by, filled up our water glasses, and took our drink order. We waited another 20 minutes until our drinks - glasses of wine for the table - arrived. After another 20 minutes, the waiter took our order. It broke down even further from there. No check ins, no friendly words. Just terrible service paired with great food - such a disappointing experience.

After hearing nothing but great things, I finally went here for my girlfriend's birthday and had an excellent time. Each dish was perfectly executed and our waitress was knowledgeable without even a hint of pretension. In fact, the entire staff seemed very relaxed & friendly, yet still attentive. Beer list was diverse enough and paired nicely with the food. I didn't quite understand the organization of the wine list, but the content was great: a lot of boutique wines and others off the beaten path. We will definitely be returning soon.

Anna Sortun has recreated Turkish cuisine as it must have been at the Ottoman Court. Everything on a plate has a flavor worth savoring. The vegetarian tasting menu was fascinating, as was the Sultan's beef, and the deserts made me break my resolve not to have another bite. Turkish food filtered through the imagination of a culinary genius.

My boyfriend and I made our reservation about 3 weeks in advance and were very excited to dine at Oleana. After reading many reviews, we decided to order 6 meze and 1 dessert. It was the perfect amount of food - some may prefer less, but it was perfect for us hungry people! We had the burrata which was a special served with fried green tomatoes, the whipped feta, fried mussels, quail kebab, octopus coca, and sultan's delight. All were great, the feta and sultan's delight were my favorites. Our server was knowledgeable and efficient. Our food was delivered by different people each time, but I felt that was just fine. I think the servings, though expectedly small, could have been a tad larger for the prices. Also, I wish they had a full bar.

The food was wonderful, but it was not well paced. I don't know if there was a mix up, but I ordered the vegetable tasting menu, and the first two mezes came right on top of each other, and then we waited almost 45 minutes for the other two and my husband's entree. It would have been nice to have time to enjoy each dish on its own merits.

We have been to Oleana many times and the food is outstanding. However, this last time, after talking the place up, we took a couple of friends and it wasn't a great experience. Even calling a month ahead of time, the earliest reservation we could grab was 8:30pm. After being seated, we were greeted by a waitress who appeared to be fairly new. She had trouble with the beer and wine list and disappeared quite a bit. When it came time to eat, we waited over an hour to get our food! Our bottle of wine sat empty and we were REALLY aware of how long we were waiting for food. We starved ourselves during the day in anticipation of overeating that night - we were hungry. Worst part -not even offered a glass of wine or discount for the wait!

It was a great dinner. The Mezze's have really expanded, especially in the vegetarian area. Thank you! Dessert is something you should save room for! Could not believe one table had three kids under the age of five, and the eldest nearly knocked over a waiter while running with his umbrella. This is NOT a kid restaurant! They welcome kids, but I don't think other diners expect kids to be heard or running around.
