A word from Olé Mexican Grill
We are very excited to present Olé's renovated space and updated bar menus to the neighborhood. Olé has been in Inman Sq for 15 years, bringing traditional as well as innovative Mexican cuisine to Cambridge. With our 6 seat bar served us well over the years, but we always wanted a little more. Now we have it!

  • "Very loud, but it was a Friday night and busy! We have been here a number of times and looked forward to the guacamole,salsa, and the sangria. Something changed with all of them. The guacamole lacked flavor and was much to 'chunky' - as if the preparer didn't have time to properly 'mash' the avocado. The salsa has changed and seemed less chunky - no longer 'home-made'. The sangria was blah - again no flavor. Service was slow. We must have waited at least 40 minutes for our main courses. We would rate them 'good'. We asked for a dessert menu, waited, and had to ask again. Not sure we will return, definitely not for a quieter dinner on a Friday evening."

  • "I have been a patron of this restaurant for 5 years now and it has been nothing short of amazing every time. It can be a really expensive and fancy night out or super casual and inexpensive by sitting at the bar so it really fits a lot of my needs in a night out. This night in particular we made reservations for my sister's birthday. There were 5 of us in the party on a Saturday night and our waitress handle our orders like it was a table for two. She was super sweet and just the right amount of attentiveness. We had a great time, the food was amazing all around, and the bday girl got her choice of desert! So sweet!"

  • "We waited half an hour to be seated despite having a reservation (and having arrived a few minutes early for the reservation). No one ever offered us an apology; they only said it would be "just a few more minutes" repeatedly and averted their eyes as much as possible. When we were finally seated we weren't acknowledged by our waiter for another 5 minutes at least. Throughout the night the service was *incredibly* slow and inattentive. We seem to have come on a very busy night since it was apparently restaurant week, but we we never offered any kind of apology for all of the waiting and delays. The food was merely okay, but not worth the hassle of enduring such miserable service (and such a cocky waiter)."

  • "We went here as a little celebration among friends. It still had that mexican restaurant vibe with the decor and music, but beyond that it felt like a nice place for dinner (and not like a taqueria). The waitstaff were fairly polite and attentive, nothing to rave about but still very good. The food is a little pricy compared to your typical mexican fare, but it's well worth it. The tableside guac was fantastic and as for everyone's entree, reviews ranged from 'very good' to 'omg this is delicious.' I would recommend this place for a group of friends or a low-key date."

  • "Much too noisy, tables too small, waiter forgot everything we asked for, mediocre winesby-the-glass list, delicious food but very small portions for the price, and absolutely no parking. We've been before and do like the food but the entire experience is disappointing and this was probably our least-good visit. Appears to be under friendly but non-Mexican new ownership. It's not obvious that the recent renovation improved anything."

  • "Our food was fantastic, really fresh and I would definitely recommend it for the flavor. However, the only thing that would stop us from going again was the service. Our waitress was very sweet, but it took over an hour to get our meal (and we only ordered a few appetizers, no entrees). Also, we wanted to start with the fresh made guacamole, which took over a half hour to be served and frankly, was a bit over salted. Turns out our food never got put into the system, so our waitress comped 2 desserts, which was nice, but maybe we'd try going back on an off night instead, see if less crowds would give us a better time."

  • "The made to order guacamole was outstanding! We went for an early dinner and the service was pretty good until it got busier. The restaurant ended up packed but 6:30, but it was valentines day and a Friday, so that was to be expected. The poor couple at the table next to us came in later than we did when it was busy and didn't get their guacamole before their appetizers came out. I enjoyed my food, and my husband and I weren't in a rush, but it did take 25 minutes for our deserts to be delivered. Overall, really good Mexican food, slower service when busy, though."

Food was unlike any other Mexican cuisine in Boston-- super fresh and creative. Fun and lively decor. No pretense. Space got a little tight as tables filled up."

The hostess who brought us to our table proceeded to sit at the table next to us with seemingly regulars of the establishment or her friends She sat there and drank for the duration of our meal The three pals decided that talking at a normal volume wasn't sufficient for the evening and yelled at each other the whole time This was the least professional staff I have ever seen Having worked in the food service industry myself I was shocked The food was OK at best however it didn't matter because it was overshadowed by the horrid service The waiter said he wasnt sure how the pre fixed menu worked - at 9:15 at night."

I had the Oaxacan Vegetable Stew and it was fabulous. The veggie Chili Rellenos are also very good and a unique combination of ingredients. Great service. A very nice evening out."

Ordered Chilaquiles on a Sunday night and what I got could best be described as a mexicanized version of moussaka - pretty good and quite interesting, but definitely not chilaquiles!"

  • "I came for brunch with a friend and had a wonderful time. The service was attentive, although perhaps a bit timid. I love all the bright colors - very fun decor! The food was great. I had the poached eggs over crab cakes. The fried plantains were amazing (on par with ones in Mexico!). My food was rich but not too heavy. The Mexican coffee (non-alcoholic) was DELICIOUS!!! I'd drink it every day. Hands down the best coffee drink I've ever had. We used a Gilt City voucher and processing everything went very smoothly ."

  • "Four of us ate at Ole on New Years Eve. Only a fixed price menu was offered. We had been there before with the regular menu and thought the food was at the 4-5 star level. Perhaps it was due to being NYE but the food was lukewarm when served and three of us who ordered a salmon dish had parts of the meal missing. We had a great wait person who kept going to the kitchen to fix the errors and we were also compensated with free dessert which was the best part of the meal and which we appreciated. We know that NYE is a tough evening for restaurants so we will return and hope for a better experience."

  • "OIe is a favorite of mine, but I was disappointed with it on New Year's Eve. The kitchen and wait staff were clearly overwhelmed. The website was misleading; it stated that the à la carte menu will be available New Year's Eve but there was only a prix fixe menu. Granted, the pricing for such a holiday was very good. And the food, when it finally came, was also good. The short ribs of beef, while lean and a generous portion, were not "fall off the bone" tender, which they should be. The salmon was apparently delicious. My opinion is still that OLE has the best fish in Boston."

  • "The food at Ole is pretty good, but the jewel for me is the fresh salsa and guacamole made table side. Unfortunately, at this visit they were out of ingredients for salsa. I find it to be kind of bizarre. How can a Mexican restaurant not have the ingredients for salsa? There is a whole foods right down the street. Why can't they go get ingredients. Kind of disappointed in this place. I drive from Needham to Cambridge (never a pleasant experience) for no salsa."

  • "As we have come to expect, we had great food and great service on Saturday night. I know they want to fit in as many people as possible, but man, the tables are close together. I had to go to the ladies room and could barely squeeze between the tables - and I am not a large person. I sadly knocked a water glass from the next table to the floor trying to slide between the 2 tables. It is also tough to have a private conversation - you are so busy inadvertently hearing everyone else's!! Truly - my only complaint. We love Ole, the food and the service. The close quarters, not so much!!"

  • "Ole's new look and new menu is great. Bartender Michael makes every customer feel like they are the only ones at the bar and his knowledge of tequila is epic! The small plates allow you to sample many different dishes and the large plates surprise you with delicious fishes and other treats not found in other restaurants. Don't miss this hidden treasure off of Cambridge Street."
