Diner Reviews
  • "We really enjoyed our dinner. We started with guacamole, made fresh, and outstanding served with delicious salsa and home baked tortilla chips. For mains, my husband and I had two orders each of tacos, 4 different varieties and each one fabulous, our guest had the duck with mole sauce, which he told us was great. We thought it was one of the best meals we've had locally in quite a while. Service was friendly and efficient, the restaurant is nicely decorated with comfortable seating. There is a metered parking lot to the rear of the restaurant. We plan on returning again and again."

  • "Delicious Mexican food -- a bit more upscale than your standard burrito joint but not expensive. Fabulous guacamole! All food was great. Loved my margarita!"

  • "Rez done on Open Table with a 'by the window' request. Host immediately recognized that request and we were seated at the window in short order. Food always amazing, plenty of vegetarian options. Best spicy margarita in town and the bartender never ceases to amaze with delicious and spontaneous mocktails. Easy to have conversation, wait staff checked on us appropriately, it was a wonderful evening with friends."

  • "I live in the neighborhood, and have been going here for many years. Recent improvements have made it even better than it was! The food is great as always."

  • "My cousins and I went here for a family outing. We had both traditional mexican fare (Enchiladas) and less-typical dishes (Mariscada). All was delicious!"

  • "First, let me say that the tequila/mezcal selection is fantastic. I tried one of the flights and the three I got were very good, not all that distinct from one another, but very good. The guacamole made "tableside" was indeed tasty. The salsa tasted like it was made from a can, I understand that it is not quite tomato season. We ordered some tapas and the veggie enchilada for our meal. The fish on the fish taco was tasteless as if it hadn't been seasoned or marinated. The chorizo tacos had some spice/flavor. The enchiladas were topped with a green sauce which was bland and the braised vegetables in the enchilada varied from burned to decent. Our waiter was friendly but flaky and forgetful (forgot to put our order in). Go elsewhere."

  • "If this were half the restaurant it used to be... From something special to just another tex-mex. Meh margaritas. Bland salmon. Over peppered steak on the salad. Service: Phillip Seymour Hoffman as the culinary school grad who can't cut it as a chef in the lead waiter role, whose primary function seemed to be pointing out his under study's lack of experience in the most pretentious character possible. Ambiance: mariachi Muzak of every tired classic rock hit you can think of. If this trend continues they will have to lower their premium price tags and change their name from Olé to Así-Así. "

  • "Good food and service; Only problem is noise level which made it very hard to hear conversation at our table of (only) 4."

  • "I've been going to Ole for years and it remains in my rotation. It has good food and great drinks. But, over the years, I feel like it's relative value has gone down."
    Dined on 5/17/2014
  • "Each dish was delectable from the vegetarian to the carnivorous. But the noise level was a little too high for us older folks. Still we plan to go back regularly. ."

  • "The reservation through OpenTable worked flawlessly. The staff was positive, warm and helpful with just the right balance of friendliness and professional distance. My party of 4 thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The food was excellent. There were specials for Mother's Day. I had the beef tenderloin and it was one of the best food experiences of my life. The mashed potatoes were great, as was the rest of my meal including the flan for desert. The restaurant allowed us to stay as long as we wanted with no pressure to leave. We really had an excellent time."

  • "Dont get me wrong the food at Ole was amazing but it seemed to take them forever to serve us. This wouldn't normally bother me seeing as we went on Cinco De Mayo but there were barely any people there,"
    Dined on 5/5/2014
  • "Had dinner to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. Drinks were delicious although we received white sangria instead of the red we ordered. Live music was entertaining. Loved the guacamole. My friend's order was not to his liking (under cooked and fatty meat) which he couldn't eat. Server made note of it but didn't take it off the bill. My tacos were tasty. Have had better meals in the past. I think they were overwhelmed because of the holiday business. "

  • "It was very refreshing to have a waiter who kept checking in with us and could explain the menu without sounding like a recitation. Great food, great service! Nice to have not the usual run-of-the-mill mexican dishes!"

  • "Reasonable price in the neighbourhood, nice food . Will definitely go again !"

  • "Most dishes were adequate, but lacked flavor. The ceviche was alarmingly rubbery and tasteless. The guacamole remains good, but everything else that we had was at best bland. For the price, the food is unacceptable. Even the margerita is lacking in any flair."

  • "We loved the food and the atmosphere. Our service was slow, but the server was very nice."

  • "We went on Easter Sunday and had a party of 7. It took a long time for the food to come. It was delicious, but the restaurant didn't appear that busy that it would explain the wait. "

  • "Margaritas - sub par: lots of tequila in them without much flavor Chille Relleno: quite bland Fish tacos: oily and small Menu overall leaves much to be desired. Guacamole - heavenly every time!"

  • "Very loud, but it was a Friday night and busy! We have been here a number of times and looked forward to the guacamole, salsa, and the sangria. Something changed with all of them. The guacamole lacked flavor and was much to 'chunky' - as if the preparer didn't have time to properly 'mash' the avocado. The salsa has changed and seemed less chunky - no longer 'home-made'. The sangria was blah - again no flavor. Service was slow. We must have waited at least 40 minutes for our main courses. We would rate them 'good'. We asked for a dessert menu, waited, and had to ask again. Not sure we will return, definitely not for a quieter dinner on a Friday evening."

  • "Waiter was un-interested no personality. meal took way too long after we ordered and place was not really that busy food was pretty good. did not like the fact that things were al la carte especially for the money spent. If service is lacking I usually will not go back too soon."

  • "Ate out all week during visit to Boston. Drinks at Ole were the best we had all week. There were 4 of us in the party and all of it thought the food was excellent. Had the vegetarian chile rellenos and guacamole and would highly recommend those."
    Dined on 4/4/2014
  • "The guacamole is not to be missed. As a former Texan, I have very high standards for guac and Ole's is top shelf."
    Dined on 3/22/2014
  • "We've eaten at Ole before and have never been disappointed. The food is excellent, the service is good, and the vibe is a fun one. The only downside is that it is pricey ($12 for guac!), but you know that up front, so it's an informed decision to eat there."

  • "I have been a patron of this restaurant for 5 years now and it has been nothing short of amazing every time. It can be a really expensive and fancy night out or super casual and inexpensive by sitting at the bar so it really fits a lot of my needs in a night out. This night in particular we made reservations for my sister's birthday. There were 5 of us in the party on a Saturday night and our waitress handle our orders like it was a table for two. She was super sweet and just the right amount of attentiveness. We had a great time, the food was amazing all around, and the bday girl got her choice of desert! So sweet!"

  • "Fantastic food. Everything was incredibly fresh and bursting with flavor. The flan was so smooth and just the right sweetness. Decorations are also really nice, giving it that authentic Mexican feel. The server was sweet. I will definitely be returning."

  • "We waited half an hour to be seated despite having a reservation (and having arrived a few minutes early for the reservation). No one ever offered us an apology; they only said it would be "just a few more minutes" repeatedly and averted their eyes as much as possible. When we were finally seated we weren't acknowledged by our waiter for another 5 minutes at least. Throughout the night the service was *incredibly* slow and inattentive. We seem to have come on a very busy night since it was apparently restaurant week, but we we never offered any kind of apology for all of the waiting and delays. The food was merely okay, but not worth the hassle of enduring such miserable service (and such a cocky waiter)."

  • "We went here as a little celebration among friends. It still had that mexican restaurant vibe with the decor and music, but beyond that it felt like a nice place for dinner (and not like a taqueria). The waitstaff were fairly polite and attentive, nothing to rave about but still very good. The food is a little pricy compared to your typical mexican fare, but it's well worth it. The tableside guac was fantastic and as for everyone's entree, reviews ranged from 'very good' to 'omg this is delicious.' I would recommend this place for a group of friends or a low-key date."

  • "Much too noisy, tables too small, waiter forgot everything we asked for, mediocre winesby-the-glass list, delicious food but very small portions for the price, and absolutely no parking. We've been before and do like the food but the entire experience is disappointing and this was probably our least-good visit. Appears to be under friendly but non-Mexican new ownership. It's not obvious that the recent renovation improved anything."

  • "Different selection than traditional Mexican. We loved the various vegetarian options that were delicious. The waiter was very attentive and helpful."

  • "Our coffee cups were almost empty when our churros arrived. We had to request salsa and chips after our cocktails had arrived. Timing was off with service."

  • "I use the catering side of this restaurant and they are OUTSTANDING but my dinner experience was not impressive."
    Dined on 2/24/2013
  • "Our food was fantastic, really fresh and I would definitely recommend it for the flavor. However, the only thing that would stop us from going again was the service. Our waitress was very sweet, but it took over an hour to get our meal (and we only ordered a few appetizers, no entrees). Also, we wanted to start with the fresh made guacamole, which took over a half hour to be served and frankly, was a bit over salted. Turns out our food never got put into the system, so our waitress comped 2 desserts, which was nice, but maybe we'd try going back on an off night instead, see if less crowds would give us a better time."
    Dined on 2/22/2014
  • "The made to order guacamole was outstanding! We went for an early dinner and the service was pretty good until it got busier. The restaurant ended up packed but 6:30, but it was valentines day and a Friday, so that was to be expected. The poor couple at the table next to us came in later than we did when it was busy and didn't get their guacamole before their appetizers came out. I enjoyed my food, and my husband and I weren't in a rush, but it did take 25 minutes for our deserts to be delivered. Overall, really good Mexican food, slower service when busy, though."

  • "Had Valentine's dinner here on a Saturday during a blizzard. Waitress was super friendly and attentive, and was knowledgable about the menu. Drinks were amazing. Food was unlike any other Mexican cuisine in Boston-- super fresh and creative. Fun and lively decor. No pretense. Space got a little tight as tables filled up."

  • "No class Valentines dinner was awful What a shame the staff that doesnt care about their guests or the quality of their service. The hostess who brought us to our table proceeded to sit at the table next to us with seemingly regulars of the establishment or her friends She sat there and drank for the duration of our meal The three pals decided that talking at a normal volume wasn't sufficient for the evening and yelled at each other the whole time This was the least professional staff I have ever seen Having worked in the food service industry myself I was shocked The food was OK at best however it didn't matter because it was overshadowed by the horrid service The waiter said he wasnt sure how the pre fixed menu worked - at 9:15 at night."

  • "My friend received a different dish from the one he ordered. We didn't receive drinks we ordered so the waiter said he would bring them and comp them and then they were still on our bill. Overall it was laughably bad service."
