  • "We had guests in town, and went to their Sunday brunch. From the warm greetings, white top tables, to the scrumptious food, it was a hit all around. A basket of biscuits and mini blueberry muffins were offered while awaiting the main plate. The chef's creative combinations were delicious and combined with a choice of herbed-potatoes or creamy Geechie Boy grits. Yum!"

  • "Not over-the-top with the desire to stretch boundaries, but well past the protein and three Farmer's Market plate. We've been a few times now. Menu fulfills all needs for all diners."

  • "The fish was superb and fresh. A lovely local restaurant with a great atmosphere. Worth a drive over to charming old village of Mt. pleasant"

  • "I have dined at the Post House several times, and have always thoroughly enjoyed it. This time was a huge disappointment. I ordered the lamb, and it was the most bland, tasteless dish I have ever had at a restaurant. Had I not been told it was lamb, I would have thought it was crock pot roast beef from a cafeteria. The service was impeccable, so I did not complain although I should have. I love all the Maverick Southern Kitchen affiliates, so I just had to provide this critique. This entree truly needs to be removed from the menu. I don't know if I will ever go back to the Post House or feel comfortable recommending it."

  • "Enjoyed the brunch and unique food. Table was ready and awaiting our arrival (made prior reservation). And the food was very good. Would visit again, next time in town (maybe next year's bridge race)."

  • "If you have a car while visiting Charleston it's worth the drive, even with all the great cuisine in historic Charleston. It's a lovely drive over the bridge into the residential neighborhood of Mt. Pleasant. Nautically themed, in an old house (post office?), the service was friendly & charring. We enjoyed a stiff martini & wines by the glass, all generous pours. We started w/asparagus bisque with she crab garnish that was creamy without cream - delicious! Salmon & steak did not disappoint."

  • "The ambience was just so-so. We were 10 minutes early for our reservation and were ushered to the only open two-top which was near the entrance. We felt like we were in a flight path for the entire dinner as patrons were ushered in and out turning at our table. On a positive note, the separate room with the bar did have ambience and the bar was extraordinary."

  • "We dined at the Old Village Post House recently. It is a real gem, tucked away in a quiet neighborhood of Mount Pleasant. The experience was positive from start to finish; the welcome, service, and of course the food! I think I had the perfect meal; asparagus salad, and flounder on red pea and corn succotash with a heavenly chocolate tart for dessert. We were happy to know that much of the food is locally sourced. We were seated in the romantic garden area, very nice with twinkling lights and well spaced tables. The only negative aspect of the garden seating would be the constant humming of a generator/air conditioning unit and I may have noted an occasional whiff of the trash bin behind the bushes..."

  • "This was a fantastic experience for my wife's birthday. We dined in a upstairs room with only 4 tables, so we were able to carry on conversation and catch up with our guests. It was perfect, the service and food were fantastic. The prices were reasonable for Charleston (where they can often be way over the top). Great stuff!!!"

  • "We had Sunday brunch. If anything, the food delivery was too quick for what was hoped to be a more relaxing meal - barely had time to have a sip of our Bloody Mary's before food was plopped down in front of us. Food was only fair."

  • "On the corner of Pitt & Venning in the Old Village of Mount Pleasant this restaurant and inn has the most wonderful ambiance. Went for Sunday brunch with friends at this wonderfully maintained historic site. After our delicious meal the manager was kind enough to show us around. We saw the upstairs dining areas as well as 2 of the 6 rooms available in the inn. We plan to go back soon for dinner. Hopefully I can send some clients to the Inn as well."

  • "Had an excellent dinner on Saturday. Very attentive but not intrusive service, interesting menu selections and a charming restaurant. Located in the Old Village of Mt. Pleasant, the Post House is a part of the Mavericks Restaurant Group. Parking wasn't a problem with what seemed like ample on street spaces. I would highly recommend the Old Village Post House. We will return frequently."

  • "I live on Daniel Island and frequently entertain out of town guests. I was unable to get a reservation downtown and decided to use Open Table. I recalled hearing good things about this restaurant and decided to take a chance with a guest from NC. We had a great time.....the food was good and the service was impeccable. Thank you"

  • "Lovely setting, interesting decor, wonderful food. I had the shrimp and grits which was, hands down, the best I've ever experienced in the low country. The lemon, raspberry triffle dessert was a piece of culinary heaven."

  • "We've been going to this restaurant for about 8 years and it seems that the menu never changes. Mediocre food & unchanging menu is a formula for non returns!!!! Ah Maybe next year!!!!"

  • "Though some servers seemed confused as to where some meals were to deliver, our waitress did a great job tending to our needs. The limited menu entrees were very well prepared and tasted great. The noise from larger groups that reverberated across the wooden walls and flooring was a little annoying at times. Overall, we were satisfied with our visit and would return again a second time."

  • "We love this place and will definitely go back. We liked a super busy time to go so I attribute that to why our server was slow. I felt like she never caught up. We are parents of two little ones so we appreciate the time out and usually don't mind if things take a while but this was just too slow. That being said the food was great and the ambience romantic."

  • "Charleston has so many great restaurants and this has to be one of them . The food was superb as well as the service. The dining in the first floor room is a little tight but that should not persuade you not to enjoy a fabulous meal."

  • "The restaurant was fairly small and the atmosphere was relaxed Even though the food pickup area was in the dining room, there wasn't a high noise level. Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable. The food presenation was excellent and both appetizers and main dishes were delicous and the portions quitre adequate. We enjoyed it so much we knoiw we will be back again."

  • "This was our first dining experience at the restaurant and we had heard great things about it and it DELIVERS!. Great old world cham, terrific friendly service and outstanding food. We had the mussels as an appetizer and they were very good. Broth is especially tasty and the mussels are from PEI. We both had the duck breast and it was great as well. Portions are just right for us. The Charleston area has many outstanding restaurants and this is in our top 10 list."

  • "Charleston, SC has dozens of restaurants that serve delicious Sunday brunches. This gem in a classy old Mt. Pleasant neighborhood is my favorite among the many. Every time my visit includes a Sunday, I gravitate there to a short menu which contains dishes that are all exceptionally well prepared and appealing to every appetite. In an area where shrimp and grits are on virtually every menu, those at the Post House are among the very best. Try any menu item with fried chicken. It will be very lightly floured, beautifully seasoned, crisp and perfectly moist. This lovely, warm culinary destination is a do not miss."
