Diner Reviews
  • "Every time I've eaten dinner here we're had extremely rude waitresses and hostesses. I think this place is much better for late night drinks only"

  • "Food is really over-hyped. It was mediocre pub food at best. All show, no punch."

  • "Old town social is a good place which is appealing to the eye, having some nice, large rounded booths, a long bar with tvs, and an outdoor seating area. I would imagine it could crossover into a but more of a club later I. The evening, however, we were there earlier. The deviled eggs were tasty and have a couple of different flavored on each plate. My salad was my favorite, being very fresh. No food was crazy good but all was solid. The best aspect of our experience was the service. From the hostess, to the bartender, to our server, all were polite, friendly and seemed to really care about us having a good time."

  • "We had a great time and the food was awesome. Service was a little slow. Overall great experience for brunch on a Sunday with energetic atmosphere and a DJ."

  • "This is a bar atmosphere, drinks are pricey, food is excellent as far as bat good goes. Burgers were great!"

  • "I dined with 2 other guests on a slow, Sunday night. Our water glasses were empty throughout most of our meal, no one came to check on us once we had our food or offer to bring us more drinks, and some parts of our order came late. Not once did our waitress apologize or offer an explanation as to why we were so neglected. In the end, after waiting 20 minutes for our bill once we asked for it, our waitress miscounted the cash we gave her and overcharged one of our credit cards until we brought that to her attention. All 3 members of our party have worked in the restaurant industry, so initially we tried to be understanding. However, in the end, what happened (and what didn't happen) throughout our dining experience was inexcusable."

  • "Made a reservation but was seated in the bar area (boo). Date night seated in the bar area for two non-drinkers wasn't what I thought I reserved on Open Table. Food was good and atmosphere was nice."

  • "Little more than a hangout for 20 somethings. Not really a tapas bar, not a comfy neighborhood gathering spot, not a foodie destination ... not satisfying on any level. Sterile decor, bland 'edgy' music in the background, many LCD screens built into the walls for what purpose? Server didn't know the menu or bar stock. A big meh."

  • "Great atmosphere at this place but we made reservations for dinner and we were seated at a couch and chair. Made eating even appetizers difficult. Food was okay but we left after appetizers due to the smoke coming from the fireplace. Too much smoke was coming back into the room - it made it a bit uncomfortable for us. Left smelling like we were at a campfire all night. Sending the coats and sweaters to the cleaners."

  • "Ambiance is cool foods good burgers were undercooked though. Everything else was great."

  • "burgers, fries, charcuterie - all delish! lamb ragu special was small, but also yummy."

  • "Great food, great selection of fun drinks. Loved the beer list which reads more like a beer novel. However, our service was extremely unattentive. We were there at 6:00 on a Saturday night and the restaurant was very empty. Our waitress was cold and never cracked a smile. She didn't introduce herself, or ask if we had been there before, or talk about the menu, or the cocktail list. Our food runner was much more pleasant."

  • "I have had both dinner and brunch and both were excellent . Their Bloody Mary is a meal in and of its self."

  • "Great food - I had only had drinks here prior to making a reservation for dinner on Valentine's Day. The noise level was pretty high even in the fireplace area, but it was a great atmosphere nonetheless. The bar was alive afterward!"

  • "Great ambience and even better food/customer service. I love how they make it seem like a throwback bdubs with all the tv's but keep it lookig retro. A great place for people 20-45."

  • "For a Thursday night I wish it was a little more busy but the drinks were made good, food wasn't bad and they played great music and had a coat check which was convienent. Worked for me."

  • "I had never been to Old Town Social and I had wanted to go for some time. The food was excellent. Thinking about it now makes my mouth water. We went for brunch and it was a great time. It was very loud because everyone was watching soccer but for the most part it was great."

  • "I thought the bruch was excellent. The room was pretty full and the service a little slow but all worth waitng for. A really disappointing aspect was the music volume level which made it impossible to talk comfortably and left me with a sore throat for two days trying to speak over the music- we were only a table of 3. It was brunch."

  • "Great atmosphere for groups. Food was good and the service was outstanding!! I made the reservations back in October for our family of five. I was disappointed with the the first table they gave us in the VERY loud bar. The were definitely table available in the restaurant area. We asked to be moved there and the did need some persuading to do so."

  • "Lot's of comfort foods made with excellent preparation. The room with a fireplace gives the place its name. Excellent selection of beers and wines. A fun place for a group to relax and enjoy."

  • "Waited for about 20 minutes for someone to take our order or to bring us water, but no one stopped at our table. Wasn't crowded. Maybe the waiter or waitress was late for work. The food is decent, but not enough to offset the poor service."

  • "Fantastic food. Friendly service. HUGE beer and cocktail list. Plenty of tv's and the NFL Sunday ticket. If you're tired of typical bar food/ extended frat house vibe and want to go someplace to watch the game where you can be comfortable and eat a decent meal, this is the place. It is not cheap, but it is worth the price."

  • "Place is great for a bulls or bears game but that's about it. Went for brunch but it was subpar. Be aware that the "old town classic breakfast" says hash brown casserole but it's really cheesy potatoes. Still good just not same as hash browns."
    Dined on 11/10/2013
  • "Menu seemed to be really catered to watching games and having a few drinks with friends. The sweet potato fries and pepper cheese poppers were great. It isn't necessarily the best place for a date, but it was a great place to grab snacks before seeing a Second City show. Coffee is served in a small french press, and that was awesome."

  • "So, I've been here for brunch and it was pretty good from what I remember. However when my husband and I went on night before at comedy show, we both got burgers. Why? Because it sounded good on the menu. I changed my pattie to a turkey burger to try and be healthy. So, when we got our dinner - it was bad! Both of our burgers had zero taste and to me felt like they went to Costco and bought frozen patties. Maybe I will go back, but I will chose something different."

  • "I have been coming here for years, and it never gets old. There was a stretch there were I was going to Brunch at least one day a weekend for probably 15-20 weekends in a row. They have hands down my favorite brunch of all time. If you go, get the eggs Sardou, or the BLT Benedict, and do yourself a favor by getting a side of the hashbrown casserole. Make sure to ask for ketchup too...they make it in house, and it is pretty delicious. They do specials too, so make sure you check them out. In the 4 years I have been there, they have only done this once, but if you ever see the Huevos Rancheros as a special get it. Go St. Patty's day weekend and get the corn beef and cabbage too. One of the most delicious things I have ever eaten."

  • "I gave low ratings because generally I do love Old Town Social, but the last experience was VERY unpleasant. Something must have happened in the kitchen... it was SO slow for our food to come out and we had very simple meals, mainly a couple of salads. The waitress didn't check in on us too often or let us know how long the food would take. I brought my family there because they were in town visiting and I always rave about it... hopefully better luck next time."

  • "This is a great place for dinner before Second City, or a good place to hang out. Large bar area, and adjacent dining areas. Food is locally sourced and very good. We had burgers, and they offer a variety, but the flatbread and mussels looked good too, and my simple green salad had arugula and other greens and was deliciously dressed and peppered to make it special. Would return any time I'm in the area. Very enjoyable place."
