A word from Old Surrey Restaurant
The Old Surrey Restaurant is Surrey’s best well- kept secret. Built in 1918, it was the residence of Lou Jack and his household until it was converted into a restaurant in 1974.

The interior has a crisp, clean aesthetic that is enhanced by hardwood floors and the enlarged photos of historic Surrey that adorn the walls. There are five distinct dining areas on the top floor (including a cozy library) and a banquet facility downstairs. The cuisine is French with a splash of West Coast flare. A treat for new and seasoned guests alike are the signature dishes that are prepared and flambeed tableside.

The restaurant is family owned and operated since 1975. Since 1984 the restaurant has entered into a partnership with the family farm in Ryder Lake overlooking Chilliwack from the nearby mountains. The Old Surrey is well known for its free-range lamb and veal allowing customers to enjoy fresh organic ingredients.

Dated decor and I'm 50! Overpriced poor experience. Rare for to to say but won't come back. Doesn't live up to 4.5 star reviews. Food was good not great like I expected. I brought my wife and 18 and 10 year old for a special occasion meal and regretted taking them to your facility. Left overs were boxed up meat with vegetarian meals making left overs in edible. VERY much unimpressed

Outstanding evening, celabrating my Wife's birthday. The service was very good without going overboard, the food was truly outstanding. We both had the set menu, the timing, the table side preparation, and the whole evening was most enjoyable. Highly recommend the Old Surrey Restsurant. Enjoy.

I've been coming here for over 30 years and it's still my favorite go to highend restaurant. French cuisine and outstanding food. I bring everyone here and it usually becomes their favorite hot spot. Wait for the specials and it won't break your wallet.

Upon entering the restaurant there was a strong smell of gas. I was at the restaurant several years ago and I found a deterioration in the decor and the staff less formally dressed. Our female server was adequate but not particularly welcoming and did not smile. The male server was good and attentive. I ordered the lamb special and was surprised that I was not given a choice as to how I wanted the lamb cooked. The mind jelly was too sweet and the vegetable were bland. There was nothing particularly notable about the food. Overall the experience was rather disappointing.

We took advantage of the 40th Anniversary special. I had the beef tenderloin and it was phenominal. Tenderloin was cooked to perfection. The accompanying gravy was delicious!! Potato Croquettes were light and tasty. The cooked carrots were unfortunately hard and not enjoyable to eat. Pumpkin ginger, apple soup was well made& all the flavours were balanced. Crab avacado appetizer was a good, a neat modern twist on the original appy.Cheese croquettes were not enjoyable to eat. My wife had the spring lamb. Very nice portion & well made although underspiced for our palettes. Tomato cheese salad was very bland. Blackberry crumble exceeded our expectations. It was absolutely delicious. B52 after dinner coffee was extraordinary.

We have dined at the Old Surrey Restaurant many times but this time was exceptional. Every summer, we treat our daughter and her husband and our son and his wife to a dinner to celebrate their wedding anniversaries and each year they choose the Old Surrey Restaurant. We have enjoyed their Chateaubriand Special often, but the meal we had last week was the best we've had. We were seated in a smaller room with only two other tables so our party was able to visit with ease at our large round table. The service was great and the food was superb...the Chateaubriand was very tender with crisp seasonable vegetables and the Cherries Jubilee topped it all off in style!

My husband and I have for their annual Chateaubriand dinner special. We found the service impeccable and the four course dinner absolutely delicious. The Caesar salad, the chateaubriand, and the cherries jubilee were all prepared in front of us and professionally served. We have dined at this restaurant for meals on New Year's for one and have always been satisfied.

We discovered the Old Surrey in 1975, shortly after it opened. We have been back for special occasions and have always enjoyed it. Now we discover that they are promoting their "retro" feel- and it's great! Table-side preparation, the sights, sounds and smells of the meal being prepared fresh... all add to the ambience. The only small thing we would change would be to turn down the background music a little. That said, it caused us to lean in toward each other, which is what you want to do in a romantic anniversary dinner anyway, n'est-ce pas?

The Old Surrey Restaurant is a fine dinning establishment in the confines of an old beautiful house. The service and food is excellent anf formally presented. Located just on 72 Avenue just east of King George Blvd. surrounded by strip malls and small industrial business it is a diamond in the rough. However well worth the visit. All in al lgreat value.

We had the Chateaubriand deal on a wednesday. Prawns were delicious, the salad was a bit large; would suggest to reduce the serving by 25%-30%. The meat needs to be a better quality; there should be NO gristles or major surgery in there. If that cost me more, so be it, your place is worth it! Icecream was delicious and the serving size was plenty! Wine selection has quite a range, we enjoyed a 1/2 bottle of ''Masi''. Overall dining experience is good and with a better meat quality it should be ''outstanding''

In my family, we have four July birthdays. A few years ago, I started what has developed into a tradition of all of us going to the Old Surrey Restaurant to celebrate. Ironically, July and August are the two months that the special is Chateaubriand, so this works out perfectly. I miss the coupon in the Entertainment Book but the OSR experience is well worth it.

I've been coming here for 30+ years and it remains my favorite fine dining restaurant in all of Vancouver and the lower mainland. My favorite waiter Spiro is always on hand with his exemplary service and wine knowledge as well as his table performance. Chef Valentine and now also his son Chef Phillipe prepare the excellent meals and will also cater to special requests so don't hesitate to ask. Above all the prices are reasonable and they have special events so join the club. This restaurant is highly versatile and can accomodate romantic dinners to family get togethers and special group functions. Definitely a must visit. You won't be disappointed.

Sat in a very dark room on a bright sunny day. Stuffy waiter, later replaced by a personable one. Caesar salad made at the table a bit vinegary and overly dressed. The rest of the meal was fine BUT so Dark in there that I could not identify all the ingredients. Very hot day (30C) and too warm inside (at least 26+) apparently NO AIR CONDITIONING. I was and AM in fear for THE MANY BOTTLES of wine displayed about the restaurant. $150.00 for two.

Old Surrey Restaurant is quickly becoming a favorite. Great place to relax, visit and enjoy an evening of good food with special people. My only negative: some of the food was just too "rich" - to much oil/butter/fat. There is a balance that makes food special and delicious but our meals were just "over the top". At the end of a meal there shouldn't be pools of fat on the plate. But that is our only negative. The rest was great.

I have lived in south surrey for 15 years, passed this spot several times and never been inside. I cannot believe that this gem has escaped me. We had a spectacular meal. More to the point, the art of service is so missing from most fine-dining establishments. If you want to know what that looks like - check out this place. The chef is a wizard and it is complimented by a expert wait staff. It was the perfect evening for our celebration.
