  • "Food was ok. Potato side was flavorless. Salmon dish was very good."

  • "If you love oysters then this is the place for you. We ordered the small sampler appetizer and it was excellent. The restaurant is lovely and the waitstaff was very attentive. Overall a great place for dinner."

  • "Delicious but small entrees, and the service and the atmosphere are less than you'd expect for the prices you pay. It looks like a typical neighborhood bar/restaurant and isn't particularly upscale. The oysters were very good, but the clam chowder was the worst we've ever had -- watery and bland. The beer selection was also lacking."

  • "The crab cakes basically looked and tasted as if they just came out of the freezer and were microwaved before being plated - a la Gordon fish sticks. The salmon was tasty, plentiful but the potatoe slices and asparagus on the side felt like an after thought. Five good size scallops were plated and were okay. But again potatoes and asparagus were the sides. Hoping for a little more variety here since we both like to share each other plates in the hopes of tasting something new.My partner and I have eaten at various seafood restaurants, some pricey and others not so much, but we always felt at the restaurants we patroned we got what we paid for until we ate here. The presentation, inspiration and style of the dishes do not demand their price."

  • "Seeking a local spot featuring seafood on a business trip to Portland, this restaurant was perfect. It combines a great view, uniquely Portland ambience, fresh seafood and friendly wait staff."

  • "The oysters were delicious however lacked variety of origin location."

  • "Good food overall but not a lot of choices if you just want something small at a little lower cost."

  • "Was meeting an out-of-state friend for dinner and needed to find someplace in Portland to dine. She was pleased and so was I. I had the muscles and they were really plump and tasty."

  • "Was my first visit to Portland, & was told how wonderful the food there was & about all of these amazing restaurants. Wanted to try Hugo or Emilitsa, but it was Sunday & they were closed. Settled for the old port sea grill, and the food was bland & disappointing. "

  • "The food was generally good. One entree in the group order was of unsatisfactory flavors and textures. The waitress removed it from the bill. Very friendly and accommodating. Will return when the opportunity presents itself. "

  • "$34.00 for 6 or 7 Scallops. Really. $24-$28 for a Tiny piece of Salmon? "

  • "We enjoyed the friendly bar staff who talked us through the menu and wine list. We followed their recommendations and are happy we did. Fine oyster platter, good fries, lobster a bit over cooked but still it's lobster. "

  • "Food preparation: 5 stars: The crab cake appetizer: 5 stars. The standard burger: 4 stars. The organic chicken: 5 stars. Presentation: 5 stars. Wait staff: Good but really shy, which is okay. Ambiance: Clean, spacious, tidy, upscale, modern, not noisy on Wednesday evening. Other pluses: Location and fish tank. Minuses: I didn't encounter any. I have been here a few times over the past three years and I have always been satisfied with the skill behind the food that comes out."

  • "Everyone was very nice especially we were there with 2 small kids to celebrate a birthday. Steak came very over done, ordered medium rare and came medium well and kids Mac and cheese came with frozen chunks. I'm not the kind to send food back though. Other than everything was great, oysters were delicious."

  • "It took almost half an hour for my lobster to arrive. It was lukewarm, over priced and disappointing! The mussels were outstanding as an appetizer."

  • "From the apps to entrees everything was delicious and cooked perfect. Had the salmon, burger, oysters, and seared tuna app. Waitstaff was very friendly."

  • "Apps were good & portion adjusted for our table to share. But dinner sides were cold and only 1 dessert was available - they ran out of chocolate. *what?!!* Generally, food is good, but overpriced."

  • "I made New Years eve reservations for this restaurant because I had never been there. The reservation was late (8pm). The restaurant was not bust, but couldn't take us until 8pm. They sat us by the door and it was very cold that night. We had to ask the hostess for the space heater they were using at the hostess station. The food wasn't bad, but there is a lot better very close. This one didn't leave a great impression (I don't remember what I had), the food was so-so, the atmosphere was cold, and so wasn't the service."

  • "A rainy, cold Sunday evening & the place was quite quiet, as we were the only guests. We were seated quickly, drink orders taken & Menues presented. I opted for 2 starters for my meal : BBQ calamari (Don't be fooled by the name) was delish with a subtle curry flavor & a nice cup of clam chowder with plenty of clams (not overloaded with potato!). My Fiancé enjoyed the flounder. A very pleasant dining experience."

  • "Forget the lobster roll..... The mussels are the best I've had!!! Also had the butternut squash soup which was really good."

  • "Lobster dumpling had a nice kick. The encrusted salmon was great."
    Dined on 11/17/2013
  • "The Salmon was pretty good but I make better at home. My clam chowder should have been listed as watery bacon chowder with clams, on the menu. The noise level made it difficult to hold a conversation without yelling."

  • "Our server was great, very attentive and friendly. Food was really good - especially the roasted scallop appetizer! Yum!"

  • "Bottom line, terrible food. Flounder was old, Pass when it should have been served. My wife's swordfish was dry and tasteless, either cooked poorly or frozen or both. Biggest telltale sign was old and browned lettuce in the salad. Few diners on a Fridat night. Suspect my experience was not unique."

  • "Service was great. I could not complain about that. Two of us ordered the Tuna. It came to us well done. We did not have time to complain send it back."

  • "The oysters were absolutely delicious and a close second were the mussels. The lobster dinner was more than worth it as well as the seared tuna. Overall it was really great!"

  • "My girlfriend and I ate here after running in a local half marathon. I used to work in the city and of course ordering lobster in a restaurant means your a tourist, because most Mainers cook their own lobsters. However, if you are a tourist this is a great place for lobster and other seafood dishes. We sat in the bar area at the back table. Only problem, the staff congregates in the area because it is near the kitchen and service station. Given that fact, I still couldn't understand why it took so long to get service and water refills. The restaurant is right across the street from the water, and a great place to stop by while you shop."

  • "Our family of 6 selected Old Port Sea Grill for a birthday celebration. We were disappointed with our dining experience for several reasons. The light above our table turned on and then off repeatedly all evening. Management was aware of this, yet they seated us at this table. The table should not have been in service The wait staff was not professional. The waitress did not check back to ensure that we were satisfied with the meal, and had everything we needed. The water glasses were not refilled. There are many excellent restaurants in Portland, and we definitely made the wrong choice."

  • "My family and I decided to try a new restaurant on a recent visit to Portland. We enjoyed the Old Port Sea Grill, plenty of seafood options and the food was well prepared. I particularly enjoyed the butternut squash soup though it was very thick and more of a vegetable puree than soup for consistency. The kale salad was excellent. Nice to have some healthful choices mixed in with standards."

  • "Social bar and good seafood app menu - Oyster selection; lobster dumplings. Entree selection is good and combinations are creative. Dessert menu is creative and delicious. Good location for business dining. Higher priced for this town."

  • "Whenever we decide to go out to dinner, we often think of the places that have gotten a lot of notoriety, specialize in a certain food, or are our go to spots. But every time we wander into Old Port Sea Grill (within walking distance), we always leave happy. We are the one of the pickiest couples I know when it comes to food, and this place never disappoints. Their seafood is ultra fresh, the preparations are perfect, and the flavors - well, let's just say that they're not afraid to make food taste good. Basic yes, but the preparations were perfect. Go there, and make it a staple in your restaurant choices!"

  • "Booked an early lunch as we were between shore excursions during a cruise which stopped in Portland. They could not have been more accommodating to our early lunch time frame. Imagine our delight when lunch was superb! The husband thoroughly enjoyed his fish and chips while I smacked my lips over Truffle Chicken Salad. The hand cut fries were some of the best that I have been served . Topped off with a divine coconut creme brûlée made out stopped memorable. We are planning a return to the Portland area and this restaurant will definitely be a stop for us."

  • "The food here is always better than good. Last night, it was excellent, including what the two of our party of four who had the clam chowder rated they had ever had. And the service is never skilled. OPSG stands out among Portland's better restaurants for never seeming to hire experienced staff. Our server was pleasant and did care about her job, but either her colleagues in the kitchen let her down or she did not know how to make the system work for people at her tables. The table was distinctly sticky . Appetizers arrived, but the wine did not. Dessert never came at all; after waiting thirty minutes past making the order, we cancelled it and left. This was a business dinner and we were embarrassed to have brought our guests here."

  • "Food was unexpectedly great (swordfish), but noise level from the bar made it difficult to follow conversation at our table, which was as far away from bar as possible. Maybe plan to go again when there isn't a playoff game on, which was being broadcast on bar's tv"
