Diner Reviews
  • "We went here for my birthday dinner on Saturday. No problems with a reservation for 12 and completely awesome about accomodating my 2-year-old neice and 7 month old nephew. I had the lobster bisque and the lobster roll. Absolutely delicious! They also had choices for my non-seafood eating guests, and the ribs looked yummy! Really only 2 negatives, two friends got the Crab Melt and found large and obvious shells in the mix... and my mothers ribs came out quite a bit after everyone elses dinners had been served (even the other rib platters), so that was uncomfortable. Other than that, a good time was had by all...I would go back."

  • "This place had excellent staff. But, the food was atrocious !!! We ordered the grilled lobster...they must hsve thawed it in the microwave first, then zapped it quickly....it was TASTELESS, DRY, and CHEWY. And for the ridiculous price, we could have dined at the fabulous Sam's Chowder in HAlf Moon Bay and be happy as a clam. Truly a disappointing dining experience :( Definitely NOT going back !!!!!"

  • "happy not to have to go to redwood city to eat here, my favorite seafood spot and my non seafood eaters can enjoy food here too"

  • "As with other restaurants that have been located in this spot (downstairs from Talbots), I doubt this place is going to make it. It was empty when we went. They only have wine and beer - no cocktails. The lobster macaroni and cheese was over $20 and was just greasy mac&cheese with some rubbery low quality lobster meat on top. The burger was actually pretty good, though. Over server, Juan, was wonderful, but the food would not bring us back as there are better and cheaper places."

  • "The lobster tail special was misrepresented as a 8 oz tail when it looked more like a 4 oz. The Rosemary potato side dish was over seasoned with Rosemary. This location will not be on my list to revisit. The location in Redwood city is worth the drive from Santa Clara since they also have BBQ meats."

  • "Have been a fan of the other Old Port Lobster locations. The food here was just as fresh and tasty. The wait staff was attentive and friendly. The front desk still needs a little more training."

  • "The food & service by Juan were great & I would expect no less since there was only one other table of diners! The chowdah was good and hot; the Nor'easter salad was very good with the blueberry dressing, and the Naked lobster roll was full of lobster! I was surprised that it was cold, so I asked and they heated it up right away for me! It comes chilled on purpose, but since I was pouring the melted butter on it, I asked that the meat be warmed. Excellent! They serve wine and beer and have a nice bar for sitting and watching the tv's on the wall. It's located by the Valet parking at Valley Fair and couldn't believe that no one was there!"

  • "When I made the reservation, I had no clue that the resdtaurant was located inside the food court of a mall. The description made it out to be a sit down restaurarnt with valet parking."

  • "We decided to venture here on a whim. The four of us includes two kids under age 5. As a whole the experience was ok. We ordered lobster rolls. It seemed pricey for what we got but they were good and I would get them again. The salad for $9 wasn't a favorite and seemed weak. I was more unimpressed with my small wine glass and lack of attention to my kids whose very basic food and drinks were served late. I am very used to getting kids good quick. This is not the place for that. Thus, we won't return with my children but perhaps with friends when shopping in the mall. Overall it's fine."

  • "Great value in a nice casual atmosphere. My girlfriend and I went to Olde Port Lobster to celebrate Valentine Dinner. Excellent value for whole steam lobster with fresh vegetable, corn on cob, and French fries. The manager was very attentive and definitely cares about the customer and overall dining experience. He even personally showed his customer how to take the lobster meat out of the shell. We will definitely repeat"

  • "We had been to a "sister" restaurant in Redwood City, and wanted to try this new one. The difference was striking, as the one in Redwood City is an order at the counter-type place, while this location has a lovely dining room ambiance served by wait staff. It was not busy the evening we were there, and we received attentive service. The physical set up of the room was upscale and fun at the same time, with much obvious thought. The food was great: fresh seafood (we had steamed whole lobster that was messy and perfect), salad with a cucumber "dish" presentation, good wine by the glass choices, and wonderful, fresh deserts (blueberry cobbler with blueberry ice cream). We will return!"

  • "I love the Lobster Shack, but We won't be going back to the a Lobster Grill. How can service be horrible when there are at most four tables of customers? My naked lobster roll arrived with no butter. It took at least five minutes before our waiter came to our table again and another wait until he brought the butter. We were charged incorrectly for one meal and not charged for our wine at all. It took the manager to correct the error. Too bad, but we will go to the a Shack next time."

  • "I've been to the Redwood City location and enjoyed it. They are trying to make this location a bit more upscale and it doesn't really work. There was no one in the restaurant, yet service was slow. Except for when the busboy wanted to clear plates that we were still eating from. Food was average -- cold vegies, gluey potatoes, steamed lobster was seriously greasy."
