  • "Service was great! Food was okay but nothing special compared to other area restaurants. We requested a window table With seating for nine people. A circular table would have been better and we were nowhere near a window. We were right in a very high traffic area The restaurant was incredibly noisy"

  • "Have dined there many times. The food is delicious, the staff very friendly and accommodating, and the views are incredible. Overall, a great place to eat on HH."

  • "Restaurant is designed with window seating in mind. Most places you are seated have a water view. It's beautiful. The fresh fish and daily specials are all delicious. Service was good. Great place for families or groups. It's also a nice place for couples"

  • "Went because it was a lovely evening and we could get a reservation - but the food was poor. Seafood sampler had fishy tasting mahi mahi. Even shrimp was mediocre. Quality of fish pales in comparison to other restaurants on the island . At least we had a pretty sunset"

  • "After coming to Hilton Head for years we finally made reservations for dinner. The restaurant is now on our must come to list for dining. Exceptional food and service with a magnificent view at sunset."

  • "Service was excellent as was the food. Pricey but good!"

  • "Food was overpriced for what you got. Like the atmosphere. Too much fried food included - was not made aware of alternatives."

  • "We were very pleased with our dining experience at the old Oyster factory. We were seated immediately, our waiter was great, very friendly; they were very responsive to my mothers food allergies. We will definitely go back."

  • "Wonderful location and everyone had fish on their plates. The food was hot and the flavor was spot on. Well done."

  • "The restaurant has a nice view overlooking marsh and Broad Creek inlet salt water where oysters are harvested. We were able to watch the crew who has the local rights unload 4 containers of oysters from their 18 foot boat. While we were dining tide dropped abut 2 feet. An interesting experience My spouse had the early bird special of fish corn chowder soup and crab cake with beans and whipped potatoes – all excellent. I had had coconut shrimp appetizer with and entree of brochette (skewer) of shrimp & filet mignon medallions. Shrimp was reasonable but I have had better. The brochette very tasty and tender. We had hush puppies (corn) for bread. The service was very friendly and good."

  • "We like to come here before we leave HHI. With our OpenTable reservation, we were seated immediately at a lovely table by the window. (We walked by several folks waiting for tables with pagers) Roger provided friendly, prompt service. The food was good- we all had evening specials including a nice local bass, although I think the food is a little pricey. But the water view makes up for that. We will be back, looking forward to warmer temps and possible outside seating."

  • "We chose this restaurant entirely on the recommendation of Open Table. It was an excellent choice. It just happened that it wasn't a busy night and we ate outside alone. The food was excellent. The Oysters on the half shell were delicious as was the fried oyster basket. I rated the service lower because it took them quite a while to understand that we were eating outside not jus waiting for a table inside. Once that was straightened out the service was top notch. Our waiter PD was fast and pleasant."

  • "Food was outstanding. Had a seat by the window and was able to watch the sun set. Had 2 children with us and they were able to find menu items to choose from. Overall a pleasant experience."

  • "Have been here many times before and it's usually reliably good. Never great but usually good. Unfortunately this night was below par. Waiter didn't bring out the hush puppies until right before the entrees arrived-even though we asked for them twice. The grouper was so over cooked that in hindsight, I should have sent it back. Additionally, it was expensive for a very disappointing meal. We are not planning to return."

  • "Great place to take family, and to show guests a different view of island. Also like the history of the restaurant, humble beginnings."

  • "This was our second time at this restaurant and took new friends with us. Always in the past, using Open Table we are seated at a table with a view. This time we were seated in the dark adjacent to the door. The waitress seemed new and had to be reminded to take our order. She was pleasant but slow. The food was good as expected. Probably return but this time will ask for a room with a view."

  • "The food was good. Great location with a scenic view. The bar area was very rowdy and we were seated near that area so it made it hard to have a conversation at our table."

  • "We went for the early dining (sunset dinner). We were pleased with their much improved sunset dinner since the last time we dined there a few years ago. Dishes my husband and I ordered were nicely seasoned and looked pretty on the plates. The only downside was my gumbo was lukewarm, and my husband's caeser salad was drenched with dressing. We'll definitely again.."

  • "This was a lovely restaurant with beautiful views. The Oysters were wonderful and the food was delicious! We ordered the special-- broiled lobster tail, broiled scallops, and shrimp. It came with a baked potato and DELICIOUS hush puppies! At the end of the night, we had 2 specials, oysters, and 2 beers.... $170 bill!!!! It was good food, but oh my gosh! We had a delicious dinner at our hotel the night after, and it was almost half the price for a comparable quality. The view wasn't worth the extra bucks, so I won't be going back."

  • "We've been to this restaurant several times over the years and now it's the one restaurant we won't miss when we're on Hilton Head. Great food, great service, and great atmosphere. What else do you need in a restaurant?"

  • "We try to go to this restaurant each time we visit HHI. Love the hot combo oysters-have always been tasty! The scallops were perfectly cooked. The sword fish special was great. Our waiter was helpful and provided good service. All of the wait staff worked nicely together. Look forward to another visit."

  • "We have meaning to try the restaurant for quite a while. We had a reservation but arrived a bit early and went to the bar for a drink. It was a very lively and happy scene. Our table was ready on time and our meal was delicious. Liked the atmosphere. Will definitely be returning."

  • "Hilton Head restaurants can get very crowded. When making our reservation, at a relatively early time, we still got notice that there might be a wait. Fortunately there wasn't. We were seated immediately and shown to a table by a window with a marsh view which included alligators. Our guests were impressed. We shared appetizers, the oysters Rockefeller and Savannah. Both good. Also the cold shellfish sampler, enough to please everyone. A down note was the hush puppies were dense and doughy, looking undercooked inside but not out. We didn't need them anyway. My husband and had the corvina with lobster sauce special. It was perfectly cooked, nicely balanced. We will return though likely not during the busier summer months."

  • "We went to the Old Oyster Factor on our extended weekend trip to Hilton Head. It was a last minute decision, and ended up there on a Monday night. We ended up eating at the bar because we didn't feel like waiting for a table. There was only 2 bartenders for the entire bar and service station, which apparently wasn't enough. Once we got their attention they were very sweet, but we felt rushed to place our order and didn't feel like we had time to ask questions. We ordered oysters to start which were delicious (as they should be based on the history of the building), and they were on happy hour for 75cent/each. However, both our entrees (steak and scallops) were very overcooked. We might go back for drinks, but not for food."

  • "This was my third time bAck at this place, great food - service was great even tho I was incredibly busy and short staffed ( you never would have known). We had choclate moose for dessert- absolutely incredible!"

  • "We have dined at the Old Oyster Factory many times... Hopefully their performance this Saturday was a 'one-of' and not a general slide down the slope of mediocrity. For pre-planning and making a reservation, we were rewarded with possibly the worst table in the house...near the bar. The noise level was very LOUD and the actrivity level walking near our table was distracting -- especially by bar seat wanna be's who continually circled on the off chance someone would stand up. Our server was distracted -- too many tables? The food was still good..."

  • "As expected - good quality food, well prepared; service was outstanding with friendly staff that seemed genuinely glad to see you; not as crowded as usual but noise level was still pretty high; slightly better than average value for money; obviously geared for tourist trade"

  • "We had a surprise dinner for my Dad's 80th and everything was great. Jason did a great job serving our group of 7 and the food was terrific. Much improved from past visits. This is a place where you come for the ambiance and views, but they have renewed their menu for the better."

  • "My wife and I had dinner at this restaurant while vacationing in Hilton Head. We took advantage of the early bird special. It was good, but nothing special. For the price of the special you cannot expect a first class meal and we did not. The view from most tables is quite nice. In summer time the outside dining must be great."

  • "Great location with a stunning view. Unfortunately, the food didn't match the setting. Only 1 of the 5 diners in our party had an entrée that could be classified as good. The others were either greasy or overcooked and dry. Not what you want in a seafood meal."
