We appreciated not being rushed out after we were finished and stayed to chat since it was a girls afternoon out. They should have water at every table as well. I did ask but it never came."

  • "One of my favourite restaurants in Toronto is at the Old Mill Inn. I love the atmosphere of this traditional yet well-maintained hotel and restaurant. Beautiful dining hall architecture, dimly lit at night. There is a dance floor that's used in the summer for Saturday retro night. A Jazz trio usually plays in the lounge as well (at least on Saturday nights). I enjoy listening before and after dinner. Many weddings are held at this hotel because of its scenic interior/exterior. Restaurant patrons tend to be 40+, but I'm 20+ and still enjoy it. It's a bit expensive, but portion sizes are generous and I tend to go during the Summerlicious and Winterlicious events as well (still generous portions at a very reasonable price)."

  • "I booked online a dinner table of two with a mention that we celebrate a birthday. I asked the table to be well positioned and for a special desert. As soon as we arrived the table was ready for us. The staff was very courteous and welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious and presentation was great. The happy birthday song along with the special desert made my husband blush ;-) (I expected the desert not the staff singing). After the dinner we went to the Home Smith Jazz Bar where we enjoyed a great cocktail in the company of Mike DownesTrio. We totally loved it! We highly recommend this place for family and corporate events."

  • "enjoyed my stay at the old mill. The ambience is lovely, room very nice and dinner was very good. Only complaint is that the place is overpriced. I can get same room with same dinner for $200.00 less at other inns. Nice break but too expensive for another visit."

  • "While the Old Mill has a certain charm to it that helps you overlook some things. The service at brunch wnas far from satisfactory. We were never welcomed to our table or offered drinks. After we had go e up for our first course a server came over to the table to clear plates and when we asked if we could order drinks she huffed and took the order, she made a comment that one of our party had bumped into her earlier and should have been more careful. The drinks arrived and the server disappeared until we had to flag her down to get the bill. The foods was good but. Not great. I really expected more from the Old Mill!"

  • "Enjoyed a lovely high tea at the Old Mill for my friend's birthday. Would have liked to see more sandwiches and more sandwich options. Wasn't a fan of the sundried tomato sandwich. Service was great, our hot water was topped up frequently which was great. Loved the tea room."

  • "My family came for a special occasion and enjoyed the brunch. Our experience was good. The seating was close to where the food selections were laid out. While choice was excellent, I was a little disappointed there was no omelette or crepe station. I was at another brunch facility where omelettes, crepes & waffles were made to order but the range and quality of the rest of the selections was poor. If the Old Mill has to forgo the omelette station in order to maintain the high standard of seafood, desserts, and the hot presentations of poached salmon, curried lamb, etc., they have made a good decision."

  • "In a city with many great places to dine, the restaurant at the Old Inn is a nice place to eat if you happen to be staying at the Inn itself. The food is well prepared, not overly adventurous, and the service is professional. The room itself is a little bright, and almost colonial in appearance,which seems unusual considering the Inn itself is a darker, Tudor theme. Not worth driving to from downtown, but a good choice for dinner when staying at the Inn for the weekend."

  • "I took my mom for afternoon tea on a Sunday and made sure to make a reservation. Good thing we did, because it looked like a full house. Even though it was very busy, the server was attentive and checked up on us often to refill our tea cups. I've had many afternoon teas at nice hotels in the City and I love that the Old Mill Inn is away from the bustling downtown area. You look out the window to serene nature! That was very nice. Their afternoon tea has delicious scones, pastries and sandwiches and well worth the price. I highly recommend this for a mother-daughter time or even for bridal showers. It would make it that much special."

  • "It's been years since I've had the brunch buffet which I remember as being fantastic. This was the first time I was there for a dinner buffet. There wasn't a huge selection. Lamb and Beef were the options at the carving table which sounded great. The piece of lamb I had carved off for myself was not edible. It was one huge piece of muscle. They did have halved lobsters which I thought was nice. There was no garlic butter to be found though. For the $50 price (tax & tip with no drink) per person I think I would rather skip the buffet and order off the menu next time. I hope this would result in better quality food. The restaurant was quiet and provided a great atmosphere as we were celebrating my mothers birthday."

  • "A nice spot to dine and chat with a friend. Great selection of salads and side dishes, nice entrees with selection of fish, chicken, 2beef options. Lovely squash soup accompanied the bread, cheese and fruit table. Desserts were divine, chocolate mousse and pumpkin were my favorites."

  • "We had a little birthday celebration over afternoon tea at the Old Mill. The setting (especially in the winter) is lovely and the ambience of the Inn continues to be warm and charming. The tea sandwiches, cakes and scones were tasty and true to afternoon tea as I know it; the tea was not your standard loose tea but loose tea in a teabag. It cooled quickly and they were not quite quick enough with the hot water to fill up those tea pots. Finally, one of the big attractions of "high tea" is the devon cream for scones; don't skimp on it!!"

  • "The beef tenderloin and candied yams were excellent. Plate Presentation was a work of art. Service was good but found it a little long between the time the waiter dropped off the dessert menu and the time the waiter came back to ask about dessert. As a result, we did not order dessert or after dinner drinks that we would likely have if there hadn't been such a long pause."

  • "You have to oder the "correct" thing. My wife's tenderloin steak was the best you can find in a better restauarant. My Flat Iron Steak was the wrong choice I should of ordered what she ordered. We reserved througt Open Table, all was fine, we got seated immediately (Saturday evening) and got the wine we wanted. Bread basket was good with a tasty tomato/olive spread. Main dishes were the issue. We both finished our entrees and order flavored/fancy coffees to finish. It was a successful evening. However, I should have sent my dinner back to warm it up a bit but we were both hungry and wanted to eat. It was a pricey amount in the end and could have gone better, if I was willing to ask to warm my plate - I am sure."

We both found the food very mediocre. Considering the premium price charged the food was very overpriced. I don't believe we will be back, it is too expensive a gamble."

  • "I had couple of bad experiences at the old mill restaurant in the past. When we decided to book a reservation, I was quite skeptical. However experience this time was almost perfect. Just that there was a feeling the waiter wanted us to leave after only 2 hours of fine talk/dining. I need to visit the restaurant couple of more times and be sure of the welcome treatments before I start recommending this place to friends/others. Food tasted great, and service throughout before the teas/coffee at the end was superb."

  • "The food was extraordinary as always! I come back to Old Mill time to time for last 20 years and I have to say that the place didn't lower the very high standards even a bit!!! If not getting better. This time I visited for lunch with my grandson who is 1.5 years old and his parents and the fact that he could run around the place before meal it probably make him calm during the lunch. So even dinning with the toddler was a beautiful experience and my son said that we can make this the annual tradition on Family Day."

  • "The dinner buffet food was poor. We were charged extra $40.95 for the Valentine special buffet. But we do not see any food served that is for valentines Day celebration. If you were to charge us extra at the least serve some valentine food special to the guests. There is not a lot of food selection. The service is poor the waiter kept kicking on my chair as he claimed my seat has blocked the hallway. The dining area is not kid-friendly either. I would not go back to the buffet again its absolutely doesn't worth the money spent."

  • "I recently took my wife here for dinner on valentines day. It was prolly the most romantic restaurant dinner we have experienced together. The food and service was outstanding and the food was amazing. The setting with the light jazz music playing in the background deffinately sets the perfect mood to make the experience relaxing and enjoyable. We will be deffinately be going again... Seafood bar had oversize mussels which were tough and dried out lobster, fresh sliced roast beef good but cooked with spices was tough and chewy. Vegetables overcooked and potatoes dried out. Nothing exception at the dessert table. We expected better for the price."

  • "Went to the Old Mill to celebrate my parents' 50 wedding anniversary. Told them twice ahead of time that I would like something special at the end of the meal to mark the occasion. Nothing happened. Little touches are missing. Had to request coffee, and hound them for refills. Given that it was a buffet brunch, all the servers need to do is clear dishes and serve coffee... they were ok at clearing dishes (sometime too eager to take plates!) Atmosphere is old and stodgy, but some people like that... a lot of traffic through the Old Mill is brunch/lunch with Grandma and Grandpa - who remember the Old Mill as a fancy establishment. Food selection was good, but for $35 per person, I would have like to see more."

  • "Our Brunch Experience was simply lovely. We had the family enjoy all the lovely tastes from the many tables at the brunch. Our table was placed by the fireplace, nice and close to the food area, as we had a few older people with us. It was quite easy for them to get to. The food was delicious to say the least, everyone enjoyed the variety, and of course the desserts were plentiful!!! Thanks again for honouring our requests."

  • "ADVISED RESTAURANT OF 59TH ANNIVERSARY BUT NO ACKNOWLEDGEMENT. THE FOOD WAS MEDIOCURE STEAK NOT RARE AND MUSIC SO LOUD I DIDN'T HEAR MY WIFE SAY SEE WANTED TO LEAVE WHEN I ORDERED DESSERT AND COFFEE AND SHE LEFT SO THIS WAS A WASTE. IN THE PAST WE'VE GONE FOR DANCING TO A LIVE BAND BUT KNEW IT WAS A DJ. WHAT WE DIDN'T KNOW WAS IT WAS AN '80'S ONLY. WHEN THEY TURNED UP THE VOLUME (WE WERE SEATED IN FRONT OF A SPEAKER) IT WS UNBEARABLE. WE WON'T GO BACK AGAIN UNLESS ITS LIVE MUSIC."

  • "There's not that many dinner dancing places out there. It's a shame that Toronto Old mill Inn is planning on changing the dinning area. There is talk that the dinner dancing floor will be gone in the future. If that will happen then I will not be back to dine. I can go anywhere to eat. The only reason I dine at Toronto Old Mill Inn is because of the atmosphere the old look feeling. If everything is changed then the Inn will loose a lot of customers myself included."

  • "I made my reservation 2 months in advance but I was put in the room around the corner from the food even though I had asked for a nice table closer to the food and in the main dining room - I come quite often with my husband and this time I brought my staff but will never do a big group agin since you just hid us away! Hard to impress the office when we were in a room with many empty tables and we had a hike to get the food. But I must be honest he food was as good as usual."

  • "We eat at the Old Mill several times a year and we try to always include lunch during the Christmas season. It's a buffet with no shortage of variety and excellent quality food. The service was excellent. The food was hot and the dishes were refilled when needed. Although the restaurant was very busy, we did not feel rushed at all and enjoyed a great lunch. One last note - at Christmas, the Old Mill is decorated beautifully and should not be missed."

  • "My husband and I attended a Jazz Concert at the Old Mill. While the talent, the fabulous Jackie Richardson, remains a treasured favourite, I can't say the same for the food at the Old Mill. How the powers to be came up with the exorbitant prices, I will never know. Every course was very highly priced and the product never delivered. I can think of many Toronto restaurants that give better value. Jazz FM, what is the reason your members must be held hostage at the Old Mill?? Can't you find another location where we are not forced to buy food that is expensive and certainly not 4*?"

  • "The setting was lovely. The restaurant itself decorated beautifully. The tables were far too close together. You could hardly get out of your chair. The family dinner buffet was decieving . There were duplicate food stations when in fact the buffet was actually half of what itl looked like. Most of the food was not hot. Soup was cold and main meal items moderately warm. . I wuld have to say some items were tasty but overall it is highly and I mean Highly overpriced. You are paying for the location.We went once because we had never been and I am glad we went but will never return."
