Our wine steward made a great recommendation of Pinot Noir that was paired well with our meal ( had the rabbit). What Old Major has is the whole picture - the building and ambiance is killer, the drinks are amazing, the staff is attentive and fun, and the food is simply outstanding. Because the (American-made and crazy inspired) cheese platter is a must have appetizer and because the entrees are bold and bountiful, I haven't yet made it to dessert in two visits but hold out hope that it can be accomplished. They are known for locally sourcing their produce and meat and do all their own butchering. Wonderful inventive decor that has you noticing something new every time you look around. The open kitchen lets you know they have nothing to hide. Everything we had was artfully prepared and you could tell a lot of thought went into the presentation. The halibut was especially moist and flavorful as were the scallops. Then I can see what is going to happen, I will have to make reservations weeks in advance, and I don't like to wait. Old Major is well worth the wait, if there is one. We started with the Smoked Fish Plate. It was absolutely fantastic. The mustard sauce for the muscles was outstanding.
For dinner, my wife had the Pan Roasted Colorado Bass and I had the Nose to Tail Plate. My wife loved the bass and raved about the bean salad. My dish was absolutely perfect. Although it was a lot of meat, it was just the right serving size and not overwhelming. The confit rib was the standout and was simply amazing.

The service was excellent including a great wine pairing recommendation from Bruce. My after dinner cocktail "the fair deal" is a must try. The food is nothing short of AMAZING! The pretzel bread, oh the pretzel bread! The lobster pot pie... every bite sheer lobstery delight! I want to swim in the cioppino broth or maybe just dab it behind my ears! Oh and the mussels the perfect combo of wine, shallots, lemon and sea (save some pretzel bread to sop up this broth)! The decor is refined but not stuffy and the kitchen is the piece de resistence and the seamless choreography of the chefs is intruiging to watch!
