A word from Old Major
Old Major is Chef Justin Brunson's new home to deformalized fine dining in the heart of Denver's Highland neighborhood.

Taking its name from the tufted Middle White Boar that dreamt of rebellion, Old Major seeks to follow suit: rebelling against the ideas of what fine dining must be.

Boasting a dining room of corrugated steel and recovered lumber, the open, lofted room is the perfect place to enjoy chef Brunson's rustic, American farmhouse cuisine.

Offering dinner seven nights a week, the nose-to-tail menu offerings can be paired with either our focused, eclectic beer list or with our wine list featuring domestic & international selections.

Old Major's team includes some of the most talented cooks, servers, bartenders, cicerones and sommeliers to be found under one roof, all of whom are dedicated to bringing amazing experiences, night after night, to their regulars from around the block and to visitors from around the world.

we went to Old Major to celebrate my 29th birthday. it was superb! we have been eager to check it out and are so happy to have had the opportunity to do so. my meal was wonderful and so delicious. i am still thinking about it, almost 2 weeks later! the cocktails were tasty and i could see myself coming back for happy hour to check out that menu as well. i'd definitely recommend Old Major and look forward to the next time i dine there.

Every detail is thought out at Old Major. Not only are the design and ambiance impeccable, it's obvious that every detail of every plate is carefully crafted. While it's not cheap, the prices are fair given the level of quality and precision that goes into each dish.

This place is amazing. All of the food was delicious and great portions. They definitely have some talented chefs and you won't get the "you didn't wear a tie" look that you might at some of the other restaurants with food of this caliber.

Lots of hype but fell short of expectations. Limited selection wines by the glass and very $$$$, then slow service. Oysters excellent but tiny and quite pricey. Entrée came before waiter took second drink order then had to play catch up. Food quite good but not overly generous portions. All in all we came away feeling that this establishment is overrated and we didn't see the value for such an expensive experience.

Our first trip to Old Major was for an anniversary. Read all reviews and totally agree. A wonderful experience like no other in Denver. A unique menu centered around pork but not exclusive. I had the nose to tail plate and my partner had the scallops. Both were excellent. The dessert, "chocolate several ways" was To Die For. We thought everything worked here from parking to reservations, seating, staff, ambience and food. We were by far the oldest couple there. The demographic is much younger but that is true of all the Highlands restaurants we visit. A far cry from the excellent sandwich and deli, Masterpiece I and II which has common ownership. Great addition to Highlands. Use the valet-hate parking in Highlands.

We love OM already but the food was extra interesting and delicious this time. We brought in family from out of town and this place really got them out of their comfort zone- we enjoyed the foies gras with a CRONUT, squash soup, endive salad and the mushrooms with grits to start and then moved on to the nose to tail plate, veal shank with SWEETBREADS, and the monk fish. Even these more unique options left them happy not to mention the desserts! Overall another great experience, also thanks to Ryan and Paul for making it extra special.

Our party had been to Old Major several times and enjoyed it. This time the kitchen apparently had a meltdown. Our drinks, soup and salads arrived promptly, then we waited over an hour for everything else! The manager responded appropriately by comping our dinner, so we'll certainly give them another try. But by the time we got our food, everyone was tired, hungry and ready to go home. Not the most enjoyable evening. The food was delicious when we finally got to eat it.

This was our third time to old Major and I have to say that the food is still outstanding. Such a variety of flavor and textures with each dish! Service could be more attentive though, as several times we seemed to be waiting far too long for our server to pay us attention.

I ordered the Kale and Beans side dish and the Nose to Tail Plate and my wife ordered the Scalops. Kale and Beans was great, however the Nose to Tail was too salty for my taste. I had a few bites of the Scalops, they were very well prepared and tasty. I'll be back to try something else, and I'll order the Kale and Beans again. Waitstaff was great, Juliana recommended a great beer and was a pleasure to interact with.

My son, who is a very picky eater, shared the nose to tail dish. Fortunately he was geared up to at least try it all. It was simply amazing! He loved it all too which was a Christmas miracle :-) (but I'll give the Chef most of the credit). The pig ears, rib, pork belly and the brat were terrific. I grew up in WI, had just watch my Packers come back to beat the Cowyboys in Dallas without Aaron Rogers, and despite memories of great WI brats.... This was the best I've ever had!

Very nice atmosphere, good drinks but the menu was very lack luster!! I had Someone with me that was a conservative eater and could not did one thing to eat on the menu ! When I asked about something plain like chicken they had no ideas! They give you one piece of pretzel bread and will not let you have another one! My food was lacking flavor! The wine menu was very small and poor, they did not even have a Cab by the glass! The service was overall pretty good

Very good food and delicious deserts. It was a little bit pricey - that would be our main reason for not going back. Loud, but a great atmosphere. Tried the scallops, sausage, fois gras, nose-to-tail, and all were very good. The carbonara was the only dissappointment.

This place has a very comfortable and rustic atmosphere that was perfect for a date for my boyfriend's birthday. It was definitely pricey, but worth it. The Foie Gras Cronut was definitely a favorite as well as the ham and biscuits. The seafood was also excellent. We had the oysters of the day and they were absolutely delicious and fresh. Our server was wonderful, and very knowledgeable about the menu as it was our first time. Also, the drinks were amazing. I had the clover since I love gin and it was very refreshing. My boyfriend had some green pepper based drink with Tequila, and I think that one was the best. It was a little spicy and still crisp. Highly recommend this restaurant if you're willing to spend more.

When I go to Old Major, I stick to the pork products. The Ham and Biscuts were fantastic...the red pepper jam and the cheddar biscut make this lovely finger food. I went with the Nose to Tail again. The do a great job with this dish and mix it up from time to time. I wish the Ribs and Pork Belly were featured as a separate dish. The are so incredible I want more. I really like the food, vibe, and staff here. The do a great job.

Not bad, not awesome either. Food was "good", below average wine selection, but great service. I'd go back, but this restaurant would not be a first choice; for the money, there are plenty of others in town that far exceed the overall value here. Just my 2 cents.

I thought the food was good, but over priced. I thought the wine list was way overpriced. If you are going to offier French and Italian wines that few people have heard of for $150 and up, fine. But, you should also offer some drinkable wines in the $40-$60 range.

We were 4 for dinner. Seated immediately. The menu choices are all very original. Everything was tasty. Portions are not large. I did have a bit of a hurdle with dairy in many of the dishes/sides. Overall was a nice experience. Beer selection was well thought out. Veal shank was nice but did not have the 'wow' factor for me. The risotto I felt was a bit muddled in flavor. Roasted veggies was nice & fresh but using petite sizes, more like an accent on a plate as opposed to a side. I would come back and sit in bar area to try some other items.

The title says it all. From the moment you walk into the door to the time you leave, this place will have you in awe. From the incredible service that isn't over bearing but also not your fine dining awkward silent type to the hand-crafted cocktails to the food, this place has it going on. James was and incredible server by the way. We will definitely be back to see what the spring menu has to offer! Great job Old Major. Thank you for making our dining experience the best one yet!

We started with the mushroom grits small plate - rich flavors make this dish so satisfying! We had the market fish as the main course: the night we were there it was sole with a lovely bean, kale, tomato, olive tapanade.....absolutely delicious. We finished off with the pecan pie - one of the fluffiest crusts I've had in a restaurant pie. My only complaint is that the wine list doesn't offer very affordable options. The wines are fabulous, but the prices are pretty high. The wood paneling makes this restaurant very cozy. Even though they fit in a LOT of tables, somehow it feels like an intimate setting if you're seated against the wall.

Disappointed with Old Major. Food was ok. Service staff was confused about food. One told us the special was lobster, the runner who brought it said it was crab. What it was was a small fritter. Strogonoff was too salty to consume and the mushrooms were gritty, we sent it back. Spent $100 and left hungry.

Old Major was a great experience- but one you'll pay for. We went for a special occasion & had a good time. The food was good but a little pricy for the portion sizes. Great decor and energy & the staff was really nice. Don't turn down the pretzel roll starter with Dijon butter- so good. The nose to tail plate was much smaller than expected but the flavors didn't disappoint. The duck breast with mushroom rissotto was good but left me wanting more. All in all, we had fun but will most likely check out many other restaurants on our list before going back.
