Our menu is comprised of high-quality, classic American favorites with chef inspired seasonal dinner specials. Partnering with our local farmers and producers allows us to deliver locally grown farm meats and produce, freshly prepared at affordable prices. Old Horseshoe Tavern is presented as your everyday, family-friendly dining choice, in the historical section of Johnstown.

A full bar is available on both the upper and lower floors. We also feature beer selections brewed locally.

  • "We had to send our burgers back because they were very overcooked. Came back pink on the OUTSIDE the second time and had to send them back again. Apparently they ran out of their normal burgers so went and got GFS burgers (really) and didn't know how to cook them. They were also out of the first 2 items on the menu that we wanted. We were still charge for everything."

  • "Worse restaurant I have ever dined at. Food was horrible!!! Husband had the Jambalaya! Supposed to have Shrimp, Scallops and Sausage. Came out with 3 small shrimp on a bed of White rice with a little Red "water".....shortly after the Manager came out with a small cup of "Stewed Tomatos". Complained about the missing ingredients, then came with another cup of food (Sausage and one Very small scallop). No flavor whatsoever. Wine tasted bad! I had the "Beef Briscuit Stew". Ha!!! Really! It tasted like one of those Dinty Moore cups you ate in college only worse!! Will never return as not only because it was tasteless, but also because I do not think it will survive! ""

  • "New manager, new chef, and it shows. Service lagged once, but otherwise staff was great about checking back, filling water glasses, removing plates, etc. The new bread is quite tasty, brought promptly, and no longer rationed out grudgingly. Obviously, the menu and dishes are still being reworked, but hot food arrived hot, appetizers came quickly, and all food was timed appropriately, though I'm sure it helped that the place wasn't too busy yet. Particularly, the shrimp on the shrimp and grits was amazing--huge, plump, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. Huge improvements from previously. If they can keep moving in the right direction, this place will be a true gem."

  • "It has a lovely deck-will try in summer. Wait staff very inexperienced, but trying hard. Menu is eclectic, but that is not necessarily a good thing. They should focus more on local meat-(lamb, pork, beef,)- tuna tartare seems out of place. It is a down-to-earth atmosphere, so should the food be. More Burger choices would be good. But, a big thank you for the saving of a beautiful building-so it was worth the trip from Worthington.!"

  • "Our delicious meal kicked off with a cup of cheddar brocoli and a cup of chicken noodle and both excellent and each unique. We were told they had a new chef and the kitchen was back. Yes, it is. Our entree was the blackened salmon and it was very good. Dessert was the berry crisp and just perfect. We've stuck with this place through good and bad and think they are getting their mojo back. Can't wait for the patio to open and sit under the stars and enjoy this country town's little gem."

  • "While our waitress Samantha was very nice, our food experience was not. Friends and I visited this restaurant for the first time this past weekend on the recommendation of others. I ordered chicken parmesan, friends got shrimp&grits, steak, and a hamburger.my plate was rather bland, and the chicken was a little dry. The shrimp and grits had 4 pieces of shrimp and mostly consisted of grits that were not flavored as described in the menu desription"

  • "The Old Horseshoe has an opportunity to shine, and I'm rooting for them. The interior is beautiful, and Johnstown needs a nice restaurant, but it's like they are trying too hard with the ambience and not enough with the food and service. The food came out incomplete; I had to ask for the tahini sauce (lamb gyro eggrolls), then wait quite a long time for it. The gyros were flavorful, but kind of dry. The salad was pretty good, but very vinegary, which I liked, so I'm not sure if that was the way it was supposed to be. The service was OK - the waitress was very nice and polite, but overly formal, which didn't seem to fit there. Overall, I would go back."

  • "Had reservations and waited an hour 1/2 to be served. The meal was inedible. I'm not kidding. Rice soggy and bland, hamburger and french fries both cold. We left hungry and drove through McDonalds. We've really never been to any place with service and food that bad."

  • "We arrived SAT evening at our reservation time of 6:45PM, party of 5. Our order was taken at roughly 7:10PM. Our appetizer took one hour to arrive, they were out of bowls for it. The waitress made every excuse she could and kept apologizing for the wait. Finally at 8:30PM she came to the table with menu in hand (not good) and asked my wife to change her order because they ran out of salmon. She ordered another dish and our meals arrived at 8:45PM. We were told by the staff the manager was brand new, the original chef was fired in the first month and the new chef had only been there for two days. The manager came over to our table right after we paid full price for our check and said "be honest, how was your food....terrible? I was shocked."

  • "The service has been great both times we've eaten here. They have a variety of beers to choose from and the food menu roasted by season. In fact, there were different items on the menu this time than last time we came. My wife and I ordered the Mac and cheese and the ravioli. I felt like the portions were a bit small and for me, the taste if the food left a bit too be desired. But it was decent and the atmosphere and service area great. We would come again to try different menu items."

  • "When it opened just a few months ago, this was a vibrant place serving good food and a welcome addition to a sparse restaurant scene east of Columbus. Now we're told the original chef has departed along with the former manager, and the quality of the food has plummeted. Without going into gruesome detail, nothing we recently ate was palatable. Whoever is running the kitchen is either not trained for this sort of menu or just doesn't care. Sad to say, strike it from the list of decent places to eat in the area."

  • "We have dined at Old Horseshoe a dozen times since, and including at, the opening night. The first thing that needs to be said is that the service has improved greatly in the last month or so. The menu continues to be above average, however, they continue to have difficulty with knowing how to cook a steak. I have heard reports and seen personally steaks that were delivered cold or not cooked near specifications. I ordered medium rare, got medium. This restaurant has always had great potential, but has a ways to go in terms of classy service. They are not there yet."

  • "As soon as we sat down, the table next to us informed us not to order the smoked salmon salad and they otherwise indicated we were in for a horrible experience. We sat for a good 20 minutes before our server came to the table to greet us and then it was another 15 minutes or so wait for our drinks from the bar. The servers just seemed very overwhelmed like they didn't know how to handle a crowd. The food was just ok…many menu items seemed too ambitious for this joint. This place would be better to focus on the basics of burgers and fries and try expanding after getting the basics right. Don't see a reason to return back again."

  • "My wife, son and I had reservations, were seated and had drinks relatively quickly, but then things went downhill. We heard reason after reason why our food was not ready, from a broken printer to 4 waitstaff calling off. We sat patiently and saw one plate at a time coming from the kitchen, so knew there was a big problem. We watched several others finally get up and leave, and after 2.5 hours without our meal, we finally left and headed somewhere else to find dinner. What a shame, great building and atmosphere, but the kitchen is a train wreck. Hope you can get it fixed and save your investment."

Our food orders were Frisee and Local Greens salads, Margarita pizza and Portabella Mushroom Ravioli. All delicious. Be sure to ask for Jody for your server too - she's attentive, thoughtful and professional. We're regulars, locals and you'll be seeing us again real soon."

  • "The Old Horseshoe is a wonderful new hot spot for Johnstown. Our experience was enjoyable. The food was great and the staff was so friendly. We really enjoyed the selection of music playing through out the restaurant. It was a slow quiet night when we were there, but I could see where if it is full it could get pretty loud if you want to have a quiet conversation. I will be going back for sure."

Do not order the soup we asked for a bowl and I received a half a cup about 6 oz when I asked if there was a mistake I was told no. My wife and I had not been out just the two of us in months not a good experience."

  • "I found this restaurant a great place for adult to enjoy themselves. This restaurant is not a kid friendly because of the type of food and the price which is fine with me. Just to expect to spend $50-$75 for two but the food was well worth it. I will drive an 1/2 hr. to go back and I will highly recommend it to people that want to enjoy quality time away from home. From a chef that I am I have to give the chef, cooks, servers, bartender, and management team 5 stars for excellent quality of food and service. They had any questions they came and asked. I loved that type of service. P.s. Do not order no type of sauce for your steak because the steak is perfect without it."

  • "The service was extremely sub-par. The steaks were overdone and had the server checked sooner, it could have been resolved, however, we were 15 minutes in before she even came by. At that time, I said that the steaks were overdone and she said she would check with the manager and then brought the check without another word. The manager did stop by and instead of asking us how our meal was, which is what I heard him ask every other completed diner, he commented "Full already?" I would much rather spend money in gas to get to a restaurant where the service is exceptional and the food reliable like "Texas Roadhouse" or "Longhorn Steakhouse" then come here and pay more for something less than I would receive at either of these places."

  • "The menu has potential but the preparation and food quality fell a little short. Would encourage management to monitor food preparation and presentation closely. We ordered deep fried brie which arrived with no bread, fruit or crackers. We were told nothing came with the brie because the "crust" in the deep fry process served that purpose. Brie quality did not meet expectations either. Again, great potential but needs some attention."

  • "We arrived at 6:25 for our 6:30 reservation. Food came TWO HOURS later. Slightly warm. Some people left without paying, others complained. We tried to be polite, but by 8 we were STARVED! Manager should have sent out free appetizers to keep people happy. Many guests had their coats on as did I - it was COLD. Upstairs is not ready to open yet, waiters have to run up and down if you need the slightest thing. THIS HAS THE POTENTIAL, but it is not there yet. PLEASE, call in an expert to advise on food prep, staffing, ticket time, and wait staff manners. They tried, but they failed. We will give you a few months and try again. The manager came out after our food came out and she discounted our food, which was kind."

  • "This is a beautiful restaurant with a staff that appears to be completely untrained and owner who have no idea how to train them. Our waitress was clearly stressed out. Our tuna tartar appetizer took half an hour. (This takes no cooking, by the way.) When I complained to the owner, he snapped at me that the kitchen was backed up. No drink refills. After another half an hour, I told our server to forget the other appetizer and that if she could not bring us the beef stew entrée in five minutes, we were leaving. She came back ten minutes later and told us she had no idea when dinner would be ready. Seriously? It is not like beef stew is made to order. Generally, it is prepared early in the day. Bad overall experience. Would never go back."

  • "We arrived on the Saturday after Valentine's Day. We had a 7pm reservation but had to wait 45 minutes to be seated. We were then informed that several items on the menu (4) were sold out. Also that the kitchen was running behind and our dinner would be delayed by another hour. We elected to leave and dine elsewhere. As we were leaving several other couples were leaving without being served too. I only saw one table being served and they sent their food back. It's hard to understand how a restaurant could not expect high volume on a Valentine weekend. I don't think we will go back."

  • "As a Johnstown resident, I so wanted to experience so great. We have been wanted to visit sinceit opened but had not had a chance. So I decided to take my wife their for Valentine's Day dinner. We were seated right away and we both commented on the ambience. It is very warm and welcoming. After this everything went down hill. The waitress did not know the menu, our entrees tool over an hour and the presentation and taste was less than expected."

Food quality tasted canned with some added spices perhaps. Been there a couple times. Visited again to give benefit of the doubt. Beautiful place, but food and service leaves a lot to be desired esp since it is so expensive (over $75 for 4)."

  • "It is SO nice to have a great up scale restaurant in Johnstown. Nice not to have to go into a city to eat great food in great ambiance. The historic decor is wonderful and the bar areas downstairs and upstairs are inviting to stop into after work. Great pizza and sandwiches for lunch or to pick up and take home for dinner. We had a really great tasting dinner on valentines day -- salmon and steak were great. The banana pudding was wonderful - a cross between pudding and creme brulee. Definitely like this place and look forward to good weather to sit outside in the patio areas"

  • "Our reservations were at 7:45 p.m. and it was more than 1-1/2 hours until we received our food. The service is rated as very good because our waitress was excellent and you could tell sincerely apologetic about what was happening. The kitchen was totally crushed and was obviously overwhelmed by the onslaught of diners. However, the real disappointment was the food. I chose the 14-ounce ribeye with a local greens salad while my wife got the Meatloaf with a Cesar salad. We shared an appetizer of Gyro Egg Roll. Food was average. The steak had a texture that more resembled an Applebees steak than what was promised by the menu. The bacon-wrapped meatloaf lacked depth. It was good, but after sitting for nearly two hours I expected great."
