Old Homestead RestaurantOld Home ReviewExcellent food enjoyed a great night. Service was great, I tip my hat to the waiter. His name was Ronnie he provided excellent service and know how. Will return very soon day or night.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMOld FriendsA group of old friends who worked together after 9/11/01 wanted to get together to have dinner and catch up. We picked Old Homestead. What a great choice. Great food an awesome service. I had the bone in filet 19 oz with hash browns and a Caesar salad. I couldn't finish it all and took home about half. The next night there was enough leftover for both my wife and I to enjoy. Thanks Old Homestead. We had a great time.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMSo deliciousEverything everyone at my table ordered was absolutely delicious! I highly recommend the bread appetizer with parmesan sauce. And our waiter was wonderful - friendly, helpful and not overbearing.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMOld Homestead Never DisappointsGreat food from appetizer to desert, classic professional steakhouse service, the Old Homestead is a must visit for anyone seeking that traditional authentic NY steakhouse experience. The staff is always courteous, and they are extremely knowledgable about the food, including excellent wine pairings. The decor is that classic dark wood paneled look you expect from a traditional steakhouse, but it lit very warmly so it has a cozy feel. It has been and remains one of my favorite restaurants in the city. It's a boistrous atmosphere, but not overly so. Still, if you're looking for quiet and romantic it's not the place to go. If you want superb food and service while out with friends, it is the perfect place to go.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMVisiting New York from ArizonaThis place is excellent! We highly recommend it. The food was tasty, the server was pleasent, the wine was great and the prices were good. We spent $140, we had the colossial shrimp, salads, steak dinners, one glass of wine, desert and coffee. We felt it was worth every penny. We had some bad steak dinners in New York so this restaurant will be on our list every time we visit.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent foodExcellent food, service was OK, but very noisy. We were forced to move to another table due to noise level as was the table next to us.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMBest steak ever but too noisyThe food was fantastic and the service really professional. Unfortunately the noise was terrible and I couldn´t talk with my relatives unless I shouted. I would come back in a very quite day but I think it is difficult to find...6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMhomestead reviewBar service was outstanding
food was superior
waiter could have been a little more helpful - seemed to be rushed by his work load (unfortunately i dont remember his name)
overall a great experience
ps - have been there many times but this is my first review6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and service but..A fine restaurant in many respects, even regarding value.
Unfortunately the noise level is so that everybody shout their best to even communicate with people at their own table. If you like to have a conversation while having dinner, go somwhere else.
Do book in advance - demand is unpredictable.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMOur Anniversary DinnerMy wife and I, wanted to have a more upscale celebration dinner for our 33rd Wedding Anniversary. We both enjoyed our dinners very much. I had the Empire Cut Rib Steak, and my wife had the 10oz. Filet Mignon. We both enjoyed our steaks. They were cooked exactly how we requested. Thank you Old Homestead for a memorable, and enjoyable dinner...Sincerely, Ken & Susan Rabinowitz6/1/2013 12:00:00 AM20th Anniversary spectacularIn choosing where to.celebrate our.20th Anniversary my wife suggested Old Homestead and I.totally agreed.
We ordered 3 types of steak and they.were all equally outstanding. Must go6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMWorld class LI iced tea!!!World class LI iced tea!!! 18 oz NY cut sirloin was among the best I've had in my 70 years. My wife and friends loved their food as well.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic shrimp and steak,Fantastic shrimp and steak, great wait staff, good wine selection all make for a great dining experience.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWORTH A VISIT....It's a typical "worthy of the title", NYC Steakhouse. Good food, nice ambiance, good service and a very accommodating staff. Located in the very popular Meatpacking District, near The High Line and other attractions, it's a nice place to enjoy a good dining experience, whether you're in the neighborhood or choosing it as a destination.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMKönnte cooler seinFantastische Steaks, durchschnittliche Weinkarte. Etwas altbackene Optik. Nette Bar.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMexcellentReally enjoyable meal. Great steaks, great atmosphere....5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous steak, shrimp, wineFabulous steak, shrimp, wine and sides with excellent wait staff.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMMy boyfriend picked this placeMy boyfriend picked this place for his birthday, which was a great choice. It was very comfortable and relaxing after a hard day of work. The servers were right on time with all of our needs.I would definitely return to try more dishes. I would recommend this restaurant to everybody.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently the most fabulousConsistently the most fabulous shrimp, steak and sides along with par excellent service.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistentBeen there over the past few years. Upstairs downstairs outside. It has always been
Just the same. Winderful5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat steaks with a twistThis was without doubt the best T-bone I ever ate. Tender and seared to perfection.
The twist was a Cajun style seasoning that added to the taste.
Pleasant ambiance and perfect service5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways solidGreat apps, and of course great steaks. Never disappoints5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the bestI've eaten here on several occasions and leave impressed everytime. This is easily one of the top steakhouses in NYC. The only complaint I have is that it took 45 minutes for us to be seated despite having made reservations well in advance. Based on the number of people waiting in the very narrow corridor/bar area, it seemed as if they overbook purposely. Great experience otherwise.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMperfect means PERFECT!World class food quality and presentation. Service staff is all about SERVICE and devoted insuring your every moment is pleasantly memorable. Only distance prevents more frequent visits.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good steakhouseWe were looking for a replacement to Ben Bensons. Unfortunately we didn't find it here. (We may never find a replacement) The food is very good, however, & I would recommend Old Homestead to everyone reading this review.
We had reservations at 9:30 PM & the place was packed with people. Got seated about 9:50. Not bad. Had a very good experience & our waitress was pleasant & accommodating. Was shocked to see a sonoma county wine on the list. It was fantastic with our steaks.
It's not Ben Bensons but it is very good. Recommended4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMI have reservation by openI have reservation by open table. I have also put for our "Anniversary" Once we approach the host counter it took a while for them to found our reservation. it might be more than 5 min since we sat down till the server come to our table, no introduce himself just rush us to order drink, and we have no idea what kind of drink do they have, and server not even offer if i want to see wine list.(i have to ask for it). The only thing that impress us is Food. I order 2lb lobster which perfectly cook and very fresh, my husband and my brother order bone-in ribeye which also cook as their desire, by the time we finish main course the server not even try to sell us desert, i have to ask for menu and order 'key lime pie' for share. which is just okay4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Food and the Service wasThe Food and the Service was outstanding. Best steaks in the US !!4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best, older steakhousesI love the old school atmosphere of the Old Homestead. It's one of the better, older landmarks left in such a new, upcoming area (Meatpacking District). We were so glad they had a colossal crab cake and clams on the half shell as appetizers. It's always a good start to a steak-driven meal! Mine and my boyfriend's steaks were cooked just the way we like it (medium rare) and paired with the perfect potato cake as a side. We finished our meal off with their New York styled cheesecake which was delicious! It was an overall great experience and I would recommend this restaurant to anyone!4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMI was in New York with myI was in New York with my brother for the Eric Clapton Crossroads Guitar Festival and my brothers 50th birthday. I wanted to take my brother for a special meal and decided on the Old Homestead Restaurant I have to say it has been a long time since I had a great steak like the one I ate. We had a great night and would love to say Thank You to all the staff. Looking forward to my next trip in New York with my wife so I can be back to visit The Old Homestead Restaurant4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMCan't Wait to Return!!Returned to this restaurant with a friend after eating there for the first time with a group six months ago. The food was a good as I remembered. The steaks are so tender and the truffle mac and cheese is out of this world. It was so good we had to have two orders. Your dinner will be expensive .....but worth it.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMI think it would be difficultI think it would be difficult to find a better steak than the porterhouse at the Old Homestead.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious steaksThe 22 oz. Gotham Rib steak was cooked really well! I had the hand cut french fries and the string beans with carmelized onions and pancetta, all were yummy! My starter, oysters rockefeller was delicious but the rock salt sprinkled around the plate could prove treacherous for the unsuspecting diner. The table was roomy enough for three of us but my husband's steak was sent back because he asked for medium well and got my medium. He sent it back, they were gracious and brought it back with an extra side of mashed potatoes. So, try it, it's fun. If you like it, recommend it.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall food was great, theyOverall food was great, they were out of the prime rib. The noise was loud this is definitely not a romantic spot for 2. I would say this a great special occassion restaurant for big groups. I had the filet and it was great. If you are a carnivore this is a great place. We also had the mashed potatoes and they too were great. The service was a bit slow with water refills and someone picked up my sons coke and never asked if he wanted another (no free refills). Overall we would go back.
I also made an 8:30 reservation on Open Table we didn't get seated until 8:50. I think they are double booking which makes it inconvenient for us, the customer. I was disappointed with us having to wait, had it been like 5 minutes no big deal.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my second time thereThis was my second time there and I have not been disappointed. I had the Kobe Burger and it was amazing. The tater tots were the best I have ever had. Great wine selection and they make excellent drinks. Will absolutely come back again for more deliciousness!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWe've always wanted to comeWe've always wanted to come here because it's reputed to be one of NY's premier steakhouses. We were not disappointed. Although all things considered I think I preferred the porterhouse for two at some of its peers, we really enjoyed the taste of the meat, which was cooked precisely as we ordered it (black and blue). The sliced bacon was great, as was the lump crabmeat appetizer. The tables for two upstairs are close to one another, so you may wind up making friends with your neighbors, but for those of you that enjoy intimacy, you can keep to yourself if you want to.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMA touch of classThis was my first "taste" of The Old Homestead. We had reservations for noon. We were the onlyones in there so we sat immediately. It was cleanand pleasant. Furnished with wood accents whitetablecloths and linens. Wait staff was in black andwhite. We started with a glass of Shiraz. Server wasfriendly and professional. My husband had the filet wrapped in baconand I had the sliders. We each had the onionsoup, best I ever had!All in all a delightful experience.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMget the Kobe burger special! One word incredible had the Kobe burger lunch special looked small but could not finish all I will be back!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThe meals were outstandingThe meals were outstanding in taste and simple presentation. The best steak period. The service was very attentive. Great energy throughout the dining room with a great mix of patrons. We prefer Old Homested over The Palm and Peter Luegers.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMI have tried others, but OldI have tried others, but Old Homestead is hands-down the best steakhouse in New York...Period.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Service,Great FoodService was fantastic! The staff was so friendly and attentive. The food was excellent!3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWhen talking about the OldhomesteadWhen talking about the Oldhomestead you are talking about the best steak house in New York City. The service is great. When checking in for your reservation they are very friendly and polite. When I go there I always get the Prime rib,it is so tender and the flavor is out of this world. One of the sides to get is the mac & cheese.
I have just one hint about this place, come hungry because when you leave I am sure you will not eat for a long time.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was amazing! We wereFood was amazing! We were seated 15 minutes past our reservation, but the waitstaff and manager were great!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall, the experience wasOverall, the experience was excellent. However, the kitchen ran out of the lobster we wanted and the key lime pie for dessert. This was very disappointing.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMDon't miss this restaurant! One of the best meals in NYC. Very pricey but save up and go. Don't buy that extra blouse this week. The men had steaks which were FAB. My friend and I split the sea bass, another FAB!. We all shared the crab cake and it was the best I'd ever had.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWe made reservations at 8:30We made reservations at 8:30 on a Friday night and did not sit down until 10 pm. Would of been ok if we did not have our 7 & 10 year old girls with us. Not kid friendly at all. We are from Houston visiting and always looking for great restaurants. Food was fantastic and hostess was very friendly. Would recommend be prepared for a long wait.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was a wonderful evening. It was a wonderful evening. Great salads. We had good seating. We will be back.it is too noisy3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Vegas findI love the food I get here. The giant meatball on the appetizer menu is amazing. Last time, there were some Kobe beef skewers on the menu for the night that were worth every penny. Every time we are Vegas, we make an effort to go here.1/1/0001 4:00:00 PM
