Classic Gotham Steakhouse located in the ultra chic Meat Packing District, established in 1868. The restaurant maintains it's strong relationships with their butchers, allowing them to get their first pick of beef. Nothing but prime dry aged meat - always has been and always will be. The filet's were both under cooked and under seasoned, they tasted as though there was not even salt and pepper on them. We were both very disappointed and not worth what they charge, the seating was nice and service was quick but we will not be going back."

And I get it, it attracts the many, but for the life of me, please enforce a dress code. At least no baseball caps, no sandals or shorts so that when my wife and I are enjoying the juicy sirloin and bacon wrapped filet, we enjoy the ambiance, the environment, and the food as a whole experience. That way we don't feel as of we are in some common franchise, but the gem that is Old Homestead."

  • "We made a reservation and were seated 30 minutes late. It was incredibly noisy and crowded. We then waited for another 10 minutes before we received any water. Went there for my Mom's birthday and after having an expensive dinner, they awkwardly forced us into ordering a cake for her birthday instead of it being a courtesy. Waiter did not know the wine list and was very short. Felt like we were an inconvenience to the staff dining in their restaurant, won't be returning."

  • "If you are seeking beef, this is the place. We ate the filet Mignon on the bone, apple-wood bacon bacon wrapped bacon and Empire Prime rib. All cooked perfectly to order Great flavor and tender. For sides we ordered the special bread which one could eat forever. Asparagus fresh, jumbo and tender. Great Onion rings and garlic mashed potatoes. Huge shrimp for shrimp cocktail. Finally the chocolate cake was light and huge. The creme brulee and key lime pie were perfect. All round worth the price and each item exceeded our expectations. A delightful dinner."

  • "My husband and I go to the Old Homestead once a year to reconnect. We love it there and the food is probably the best quality food I've ever had in my life. The service is an art form mastered and the presentations are beautiful. We always have a couple of shrimp (which are gigantic and so sweet) porterhouse steak for two, creamed spinach and then fight over the crispy parts of a heavenly truffle mac & cheese. In our opinion, the prices are not cheap (which is why this is a once a year treat for us), but it's an excellent place for special occasions. Although labeled a steakhouse, there are chicken alternatives, and a nice selection of fish entrees on the menu, along with a raw bar. Not exactly kid friendly, but children are welcome."

The service was extremely slow. The only time it sped up was after receiving the check as they were only interested in turning over the table. Long lines for two small upstairs bathrooms didn't help the situation. Simply put, eating here is a waste of time and money."

  • "We ordered appetizers and entrees. For appetizers we had kobe meatballs. Entrees we had Lamb, Prime Rib, Filet Mignon. Sides we had asparagus and onion rings. All the appetizers, entrees, and sides were delicious. I only had two complaints, the first one was I made the request for the prime rib to be cooked (medium well, little to no pink it came out medium rare and extremely bloody. I would have sent it back but it was late and I was hungry. It was a huge chunk of meat but most of it went to waste because it was so bloody. The second complaint is it was extremely loud, out of the whole restaurant we were the only women. All the men in the restaurant were shouting across their tables like they were at a party in a frat house. "

  • "Although, the food was good, I can't say it was the best steak I've ever had…. The filet on the bone au poivre arrived lukewarm and did not have enough sauce. The quality of the meat was excellent. The sides were good at best: creamed spinach was a-bit salty. The baked hash brown cake was great. The green beans were cooked perfectly, but over-powered by the smoked flavor of the bacon. The truffle mac & cheese was on the bland side, not enough cheese flavor. The Caesar salad was solidly good. The lump crab meat cocktail was one of the better dishes we had. I did not care for the hustle-bustle atmosphere. It felt rushed & hectic. I prefer a more relaxed, calm dining experience when spending that kind of money."

  • "My GF and I went here because we usually go to the one in Atlantic City's Borgata and love it. The shrimp cocktail was delicious, like AC's version. Giant colossal shrimp cooked perfectly. Our Caesar's salad was also delicious. We ordered the porterhouse for 2 because I am a Filet Mignon person and my GF likes her strip. We ordered it well done and was told it could take 40 minutes for WD. We had no problem with that cuz our appetizers would hold us over. It came out looking more like Med and some spots Med-rare. We sent it back but it came back still on the red side. The steak was still delicious but my GF didn't eat much of it because of that. for a $300 meal, I feel it should have been cooked perfectly like our experience in AC."
