A word from Old Homestead - Caesars Palace Las Vegas
A bit of East Coast steakhouse tradition is reinvented at Caesars Palace with the Las Vegas outpost of New York City landmark Old Homestead. Brothers Marc and Greg Sherry, whose family has been associated with the original Old Homestead (est. 1868) for decades, let Vegas get a taste of its fine cuts and legendary history.

Complemented by sultry décor, dark woods and burgundy leather booths, Old Homestead's urban dining room and bar feels like a familiar favorite. (The glass wine cellar holding 15,000 bottles doesn't hurt, either.)

Many beloved American favorites are featured here, such as applewood smoked bacon, calamari, Kobe meatballs, warm banana bread pudding and Baked Alaska. Ranging from the New York Strip to Porterhouse for Two, its standout are the famous cuts of meat, selected and butchered with attention to detail that made the original so famous.

Not one to normally spend this kind of money on food, this was a great experience. The appetizer smoked salmon, served on a crispy potato pancake was wonderful. Dover Sole, at $90, ( yes $90)was melt in your mouth yummy. Crispy cream donut bread pudding was the closer. Service was friendly and attentive. $225 for two, no liquor or wine.

We love food and have been to several on the strip. Old Homestead never disappoints. Their service in top notch, they usually get us in earlier than the reservation, and the food is always excellent! Highly recommend to anyone.

My wife and I went to Old Homestead before catching a show at Caesars. The service was excellent and the food was amazing. We were sitting in the corner of the restaurant next to a table of about 8 men who spent the night doing shots. They were having a great time but it made it hard to have a conversation with my wife. I would return to the restaurant again in the future.

very good restaurant. The only complaint is with regards to the wine list. The mark up on the wine was huge. There were little or no wines in the $50-$80 range. There should be no reason to have to spend $100 plus for a decent bottle of wine. Otherwise, all was very good.

We have dined here many times over the years and have never been disappointed in the quality of the food or service here. We ordered the Dover Sole and Scallops and both were outstanding. The wine list is extensive and the desserts are very tasty. It is our favorite Steakhouse restaurant in Las Vegas.

  • Really- a "to go" cup?

I travel to Vegas at least 6 times a year for business. On this most recent trip, I took one of my business partners out to dinner at Old Homestead. We had a 6 pm reservation-we had dinner and a bottle of wine. While we were finishing up our dinner & savoring the last few sips of wine, the waiter asked if we'd like "to go" cups for the wine. While offended we politely said "no". Within 3 mins the maitre'd came to our table and inquired how our dinner was- we told him dinner was good- his reply was that he was happy we liked it but that he wanted us to vacate the table within 5 mins! Mind you, I had just spent $400 on dinner and wine within 1.5 hrs. I dine out for business often and I honestly have never been treated so rudely!

To start we spent $600 for 4 people (without dessert) and it was just ok. Crab cake should be called bread crumb cake, calamari was tough and heavily breaded and looked like something you would get at TGI Fridays. Lobster bisque was good though. Steaks were salty and sides were subpar. Our waiter was a goof ball too. Didn't really seem to know much about beef or the menu. I researched steak restaurants to death and thought we were in for a treat. Would have been a better meal at an Outback Steak and way less than half the price! I am a foodie and I will not blink an eye on spending when the food is great. This place is just ok.

I looked into the top 10 steak houses in Las Vegas, and Old Homestead ranked up there. It's not too loud nor flashy. There's also a cool story about the architecture in the restaurant (ask your server!) The prices are slightly lower than other places and we split everything, which was a great idea because the portions are just big enough that you won't finish and wasting a bite here would be a crime! Plus it allowed us to have complimentary birthday cake, which was the best chocolate layer cake I've EVER eaten.

The restaurant was great. We hs a weird table by the wait staff station but the ambience of the place was nice. The steaks were amazing and the staff was very friendly. Our waiter had put in the wrong order but sincerely apologized, bought our whole table a round, and fixed the problem quickly. I would definitely recommend this place!

Pretty good steak--nothing to rave about. A little over-done for medium. We had a reservation and still had to wait 20 minutes for a table, which I wouldn't mind except there is no where to sit and wait. Bar was full with folks eating and drinking... Noisy, casino location. Some will like that; others will not. Difficult to chat with friends. Server (Will) was very attentive. Chocolate cake for desert was fabulous!

My hubby and I dined here for the first time as we are looking for a new Vegas resturarant to host a family reunion dinner. The French onion soup was good, Caesar salad poor as it had anchovy in dressing (not listed on menu) filet mignon steaks arrived promptly after appetizers but were overcooked and very salty. Baked potatoe was huge but not cooked in the middle but Mac and cheese was good. We skipped dessert and still had a $200 bill , pretty steep for a dinner with no booze or dessert and a meal that was half eaten. Great service

After watching a Destination America episode on the best burgers in the country, we decided to try the Kobe beef burger while we were in Las Vegas. (Evidently the Kobe beef burger is only in NYC because there was only one burger on the Las Vegas menu). While the burger was good, it was the Tater Tots with Fat Boy sauce that we are still talking about! We also had the apple cobbler for dessert – hot apple cobbler, with ice cream and this amazing cream (milk-shake-style). Everything was wonderful. The entire staff was so hospitable and genuinely kind (esp our server Jose' -- wow! What a server!). I’d highly recommend this restaurant.

Great steak (prime strip, off the bone) cooked just as requested. I wanted some sides and was disappointed they were unwiling to prepare 1 or 2 half portions; want you to order a full and toss most out.....doesn't seem tough to steam less broccoli or fry fewer tater tots, but that's sadly uncommon, even when slow as it was after 10pm on a Tuesday. Service was otherwise good

Steak was pretty mediocre - had the bone in Strip and it was not "2 inches" think as described in the menu. Under-seasoned and not very warm. Friend's filet had opposite problem - too much char. Sides were pretty good - great grilled asparagus. Worst issue is that the front of the restaurant is open to the outside walkway to the casino, it was Mexican new year and a Mariachi band was playing so loud, we couldn't talk at all. Waiter shrugged his shoulder and said nothing they could do. Over-priced even by Vegas standards.
