  • "Went there for our 13 year anniversary. The bill was almost $300 for two, but well worth it for a special occasion. Our staff was accomodating and knowledgable. Friendly, but certainly not intrusive. Make sure you request a water view. Other review sites, even list the table numbers to be exact, but you'll be fine with just requesting a water view. Food was AMAZING. Crabcake and cheese plate appetizer. Kobe Steak and PorterHouse Steak. Divine. Can't talk about the food enough. The only thing I found odd was they served cold bread."

Request a table in the far end dining hall as it provides a spectacular view of the national harbor, we were lucky enough to enjoy the beautiful sunset over dinner which added to the experience. The service was a bit slow and our waiter at times seemed to be confused and constantly present which was a bit imposing on our dinner experience but overall a great experience. I would definitely recommend Old Hickory...their steaks are amazing."

We went there for Father's day dinner since we were staying at the Gaylord and my request to be seated in the Potomac River Dinning Room was honored upon our arrival. They also allowed us to switch tables, when my husband requested to be moved to a window table once other diners left. The food was awesome and our waiter, Joe, was very informative."

  • "We loved everything about the place, food and service. My husband and I went to Old Hickory Steakhouse to celebrate our anniversary. Our steaks were cooked perfectly. The wine was reasonably priced compared to similar places. One of our favorite features which was unique to us was their cheese aged in their cheese cave which we ordered for appetizer. Old Hickory Steakhouse is highly recommended by us."

My only complaint has nothing to do with the restaurant itself.....there was a wedding below the restaurant, so you could hear and feel a little of the music below. That was only slightly annoying. But everything about the place itself was wonderful."

  • "We'd read some great reviews on this restaurant, so perhaps our expectations were too high. The wedge salad was a pleasant surprise in that the bacon was a real treat. The filet was cooked nicely; the mashed potatoes were a little too liquid, but the crispy Brussell sprouts were good. Our server was very pleasant, but he didn't know a thing about wine. When we asked for a recommendation on a bottle of Cabernet, he offered a taste of any of their wines by the glass. The restaurant apparently doesn't have a sommelier. Ultimately, we had to recognize that the Gaylord exists to service conventions, so we shouldn't have expected any more than a high-end hotel chain dining room. Sorry to have spent one of our four nights in DC there."

  • "I chose this restaurant for a group dinner, 14 people because of the convention center location and reviews. First, the server was NOT knowledgeable of the wine offerings; we chose 3 different wines, by the bottle, and each time the server had to go check if they had it. It told 45 minutes just to get drinks on the table. With that said, the Food was amazing, the entire group loved it. Just to give you an idea of time, our reservation/arrival time was 8pm....Time we wrapped up dinner was 11:45pm. Our group will not return to this restaurant."

  • "Old Hickory is a great spot in national harbor. Sunday night is a great time to go. Not to busy and the staff was great. We had drinks at the bar before dinner Steven was very attentive his manager Joseph talked to us about the dounut infusion that he created which was great! Dinner was good as well and krasimir our server was very nice and had great suggestions. The food and service was great. Such a hidden spot in the harbor. Looking forward to our next visit!"

  • "The food was appropriate for the price for the area. The service was not as good as the Nashville Old Hickory Steakhouse at the Nashville Gaylord's convention center, but it was appropriate for a high end restaurant. They seemed short on staff and our waiter did a great job but struggled to keep up. Where things fell apart was the noise level. There are 3 dining rooms. One in the back was very quiet, one in the front was almost empty. And the one in the middle was perfect until they pulled a bunch of tables together and sat a huge group right beside us. When I made the reservation I noted that we were driving 1.5 hours for a special occasion. I would have expected the management to factor that in when choosing tables."

  • "Let's get the food out of the way; we loved it. Lamb chops were appealing, and none of us regretted the decision. Now the bad news: our server. First, he spent an inordinate amount of time on the menu - yes, he read each and every description of each and every dish to us. Perhaps he thought he was impressing us, but he actually insulted us. Then, after that show, he pretty much disappeared. When we weren't ready to order when he was ready, and we asked for TWO minutes, he disappeared for fifteen. Had to ask for napkins and meat knives. Didn't refill wine glasses. Totally gone when we wanted the check. The single gent at the next table left after repeatedly asking for the check. Fire this Argentinian with attitude but no skill."

  • "My wife and I had been wanting to try Old Hickory Steakhouse since seeing their restaurant at the Gaylord Palms in Orlando, FL. The location in FL was wonderfully themed with a Southern Florida Everglades feel and looked like it was not only a lot of fun, but classy at the same time. The location at the National Harbor in Maryland as nicely appointed with a upper-class yacht/map/lighthouse motif. It was nice. The server was freindly and was nice enough to make several suggestions and offer comparisons between different steaks on the menu. The food was only so-so and certainly not worth the price we paid - $106 for a NY strip and a filet. Both were good cuts, but were very 'peppery'. $8 for garlic potato puree was a bit mutch too."

  • "The food was outstanding. We had cheese from their cheese cart. The soaked walnuts that accompanied the cheeses was AMAZING! French onion soup was the best I've ever had. NY Strip is not my "go to" steak but it was recommended and it was melt in your mouth perfect. The service was a bit of disappointment. Started out strong but my husband had to ask twice for his soda and halfway through our entree, we both ran of out water, so neither of us had anything to drink. Recommend for special occasions."

  • "We had an 11 am reservation and the staff was still getting things in order when we arrived. It was clear they had never done this before. I was told when I made the reservation that there would be a kids menu (there was not but the kids could order off the adult menu for half the price of $77/pp). All my daughter wanted was pancakes (not worth $35+ dollars). The seafood bar consisted of Alaskan crab legs, oysters and jumbo shrimp which was excellent. In addition, they had a cheese table, fruit and pastries and you could order an appetizer and entree from the brunch menu. Drinks (which I had to ask for) were extra. Gratuity for our party of 3 was automatically included. Brunch for one adult and 2 kids = $200 WAY OVER PRICED! "

I really don't care about that, but the adjacent table received an anniversary acknowledgement by the manager who ignored us. Service was slow and wait staff seemed bored. The food was very good, but pricey, and service barely mediocre."

  • "We were greeted promptly in the lobby. The host was dressed well and accommodating, offering us a drink from the bar while waiting to be seated. The food was very well presented and flavorful. The seating is spacious and comfortable. Service staff was prompt, presentable and knowledgeable. The only negatives are the portion sizes and over priced wine. Not every one can eat a pound+ of steak but they may still want a specific cut. Now about the wine. I'm no wine snob BUT I do know the difference between a $15.00 & $.40.00+ bottle. I always expect to overpay when ordering by the glass however paying the retail price of the bottle for a glass(gl $16 bt retail $15) is really taking advantage of the captive diner that enjoys a glass of wine "

  • "The food was top notch. Exactly what you would expect from a high end steak house. However, the service was not. I need to be fair here. The ancilary service people were wonderful. Our server just wasn't great. She was very attentive at first but then she got sat with a very large table and we became an afterthought. If I am paying these kind of prices for a dinner out, I better never be an afterthought. When our filets were delivered, they did not give us steak knives and it took about 5 min to get knives. We also ordered bernaise and peppercorn sauces to go with our steaks. These were not delivered until we were half way done with the steaks. Once we were finished with dinner, it took long periods of time to get our check."
