A word from Old Fort Pub
Old Fort Pub is a charming restaurant with one of the best views on Hilton Head Island. Perched on the banks of the Intra-coastal Waterway, it showcases unrivaled nightly sunsets and a rich history. So named for the adjacent Civil War shore battery, Fort Mitchel, the restaurant’s foyer is decorated with historic photos depicting the “War of Northern Aggression".

Previously featured on The Food Network and in other notable publications, the Old Fort Pub has become a tradition for over 35 years. Guests enjoy Chef Keith Josefiak’s “New Southern” favorites inspired with influences from around the globe. An excellent choice for a celebrating a birthday, holiday or a romantic evening.

We has a party of six (including 2 kids ages 2 & 4) for Sunday brunch. Drinks were brought quickly then service fell off the cliff. Other all adult parties were seated after us and they received drinks, bread and had their orders taken before I asked for the manager. The manager took our orders and things got back on track. She told us that there was a kids version of the order but we never received kids menus.

We were vacationing on HHI and booked reservations through OpenTable. While we read the positive reviews, we made the mistake of not reading the menu. Well, our mistake as this is not an English style Pub. Yes, we were expecting a little different menu fare, but this placed was the best restaurant we ate at during our four nights on HHI. The wait staff was impeccable, the SHE Crap Soup was the best my wife had ever eaten, everything from the appetizers to dessert was excellent! And the view, is absolutely beautiful with the evening, setting sun.

Requested a table with a view for our wedding anniversary. We arrived a little early but we were seated promptly. Just enough time to have a pleasant chat with the knowledgeable bartender and get a cocktail. We had a lovely view of the intracoastal and watched the sunset as we dined. The bouillabaisse was the best I have ever tasted. My husband had a flat iron steak special which he thoroughly enjoyed. The pecan pie was excellent and the portion was huge. We did not leave a bite behind. We will be back and highly recommend Old Fort Pub. A close friend had told me it was her favorite restaurant on the island. I can see why.

What a wonderful spot to have an evening out. The Skull Creek location is incredible with sunsets an extra bonus. Open Table reservation honored and we were seated immediately. A small thing...the maître de changed the color of our napkins as a function of our skirt/pants color. A great attention to detail. Drink and food, from pasta to salmon to pork tenderloin...all very good. The anise accompaniment to the salmon is especially interesting. The pecan pie is superb !!! Just one thing...use of the word PUB in the name is misleading...this is not a pub.

We visit Hilton Head annually for a convention and Old Fort Pub is becoming a regular visit for us. Beautiful view, especially if you time it so that you can experience the sunset. They always have interesting specials and I usually choose the seafood choice for that evening and I have never been disappointed. The wait staff is experienced, knowledgeable, and professional. One of the great restaurants on HHI.

Our family tradition continues with our last night's dinner spent at this restaurant. I would have given a 5 star rating but my husband was slightly disappointed in his selection of the thai chocken. The chicken was very good but he did mot prefer the accompaniment. Excellent young adult menu for kids ESp when most adult meals are $30 and up. The crab encrusted shrimp were excellent. She crab soup is superior. Nice portions and top quality food and service. We never felt hurried and enjoyed a nice relaxing family meal. We will return.

My fiancé and I visited this restaurant during our recent engagement vacation in Hilton Head. We went to a nice restaurant every night at week, and this was one of our 2 favorites. The server was professional and nice, and the food was absolutely amazing! My fiancé had the pork tenderloin and I had the fresh catch of the day (grouper). The sauces and preparation were spot on! We both had a glass of the nicer variety of sparkling wine and it was great. And we shared the shrimp, crab and some other seafood appetizer, also delicious. Note: This is an upscale restaurant, despite it having "Pub" in the name.

We've made the Old Fort Pub an annual stop on our Hilton Head vacation for several years, and have always found the food, service, and ambience to be top-notch. This year was no exception, the food was outstanding. The wait staff were exceptionally attentive, but this year's waitress was exceptionally friendly and cheerful as well. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals and had a memorable evening.

Got seated one hour beyond our reservation next to groups of 10 and 8. Waiter advised 3 different times that "he would be right with us". Was not given wine list until I asked. They were out of the wine I ordered. Busboy delivered our salads, just plopping them unceremoniously on the table. No salad forks were on the table. Bread was brought by the busboy- after we finished our salad. Food quality was good. Manager came by, smiling, and asked how our dinner was, so I recapped this to her. She apologized and gave us a free desert. Very disappointing evening for a $170 dinner

My wife and I really enjoyed celebrating our anniversary at Old fort Pub last Saturday night. This was our second time there and it was as good as the first. First and foremost was the ambiance. A truly special, romantic setting on Skull Creek. Our service was excellent and our food very good. Food almost excellent. I think maybe a little better last year. However, still a very nice evening to celebrate. Especially like having a glass of wine out on the deck before dinner.

Every year we come to HHI we dine here. It is always wonderful! This year we discover the roof top view. The sunset was as amazing as the food. Old Fort Pub is one of our must-eat-at restaurants whenever we come to Hilton Head Island, we have been going there for years. Food presentation and service are excellent and the sunset view is not to be missed. Agree with previous reviewer about the shellfish cakes, one in our party had them and they were more filler than actual fish but all of the other food choices were excellent. Definitely worth a visit, outdoor dining is an option on a nice evening.

A good meal but it's not quite the elegant spot it used to be. Also I was insulted by the fact that the server added an 19% gratuity I suppose because we had a $25 gift card. We were a party of 2 so I will probably avoid going here in the future due to that. As for food the chef needs to get back to pairing with simple things rather than mashed rutabaga or turnip green! I went to CQ's the night before and had a $25 gift card and hope they did not pull the same thing with gratuities! And they GAVE me the gift cards for being a loyal customer!

We have been dining at this small but very comfortable restaurant for over 15 years and overall the food quality has been very consistent and very good. From time to time the portion sizes became pretty large for a three-course meal. The view, especially for sunset, can't be beat and is definitely the best in Hilton Head. However, during sunset time it can be hard to get reservations. The outdoor patio is fantastic for a pre-dinner drink.

I noted in my online reservation & called ahead of time to let restaurant know it was my husband and I’s wedding anniversary & to please help us celebrate. The restaurant did absolutely nothing, our waiter did not even acknowledge the occasion after I told him (for the 3rd time). Our table was not ready upon arrival so we had to sit next to a window where the garbage and lawn tools were placed. I called the restaurant to confirm the yogurt in the “Tree Hugger” entrée was fat-free but was informed after ordering that it was not fat-free and in fact the restaurant did not even carry that! Service was incredibly slow; my husband and I’s entrees came out 25 mins apart so that I had nearly finished eating before my husband’s entrée came out.

We went to the Old Fort Pub last thursday for dinner. The service was excellent and the view was fantastic, right on the water. The she crab soup was the perfect beginning and all four of the entrees that we ordered were delicious! We also had dessert that night, all of them were so good we ended up passing them around the table for each to enjoy a little bit and they were all made in house! I would definitely recommend the Old Fort Pub.
