Can't wait to go back...Will recommend it to all.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was a lovely Mother'sThis was a lovely Mother's Day brunch albeit a little pricey. The food was wonderful, the service very attentive. We sat outdoors and a request for a heater was quickly filled.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day at Old Angler's InnI've heard for years how delightful the Inn is and had it on my "bucket list." Well before Mother's Day I told my son that's where I wanted to celebrate and made the reservation. Knowing his budget is tight, I checked the menu and prices first. What i didn't know was that there would be a pre-set fixed priced menu that day which was way beyond our expections in the amount of food we'd want and the price. In any case, the meal was delightful and the service was supreme. My only complaint was that the delicious crab and corn chowder was served luke warm, as was the coffee. But the ambiance overcame that small disappointment. I would love to go again when prices were not so high, and we didn't have to order a 3-course dinner.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's been years since I'veIt's been years since I've dined at The Old Angler's Inn. I came across an article that mentioned that there was a new chef so I thought I would go back and take my Mom with me and check out the menu. Kudos to the chef. The food was fantastic and our waiter was so sweet and very attentive. My Mom hugged him when we left! We had a lovey table by the waterfall and while it looked like it was going to rain...the weather held and it was a lovely afternoon. Thanks for a wonderful lunch.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMNicely redoneWe had not been to Old Angler's in years because our last experience was so-so. A recent Washington Post review was good so we decided to try again. The Inn's outdoor patio is beautiful as always. Their food has improved. The soft shell crab appetizer was terrific and the foie gras was excellent. The chicken fingers for the kids were actually some of the best ever. Service was good but not stellar as a few requests were somewhat slow to be remembered. They have done some remodeling to their lounge which was much needed.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMNew Menu WelcomedOur group particularly enjoyed the Hanger Steak, Mussels and Lamb Bolognese, not to mention the Pickled Beet Salad and some kind of fancy pound cake for dessert. Perfect spring afternoon and staff most helpful. "Easy parking, too.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent for special occasionsMy wife and I have been going to the Old Angler's Inn for special occasions since we met in 1999. We have consistently found the food, service, and ambience to be top notch and exactly what we were hoping for.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat AmbienceThis is a beautiful place. It's a lovely experience but the food is only mediocre. I don't really get why they can't do better. We'll come back in the summer and sit out on the patio and give it another try. We live close and this restaurant is just our style. I really want to love it, but I just like it.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThe ol' burbs still has someThe ol' burbs still has some charm in Old Anglers Inn! Food taste and presentation were terrific. Service was knowledgeable and professional. Seated outdoors on a perfect Saturday evening with friends was awesome!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful day, fun atmosphere,Beautiful day, fun atmosphere, attentive staff, good food and nicely presented, not a cheap lunch, save for a special occasion.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Setting; Overpriced food/wineA delightful setting for outdoor dining, and a solid menu. But a weak wine list, and generally overpriced for both food and wine.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMLike a Short Vacation to EuropeEating at the Old Angler's Inn is a little like taking a short trip to Europe. It is cozy, charming and filled with a wonderful vibe. The food is a delight on several different levels. The menu is sophisticated without being over-the-top. It is well-prepared and impeccably presented. The staff is attentive without being annoying. It is all very well done. Both the dining areas inside the restaurant and on the outside terrace have their charms so anywhere you are seated, you have great ambiance. The restaurant is located in a scenic area so you really feel like you have escaped the busy DC work world. The chef is supremely talented and I hope he stays because this has become my new favorite restaurant.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThe foie gras was outstanding. The foie gras was outstanding. Crisped rockfish dish was also excellent. A bit pricey but well cooked meal.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWe shared the oysters andWe shared the oysters and smoked salmon appetizers and they were great. Enjoyed the salmon entree with lentils, it was cooked perfectly. I was impressed that my request for a quiet table, due to a hearing loss, was taken seriously.
The request obviously was communicated from the reservation to the resturant..who were
very accommodating.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMDefinitely worth a try.Old Anglers has removed the musty couches from downstairs and has several very comfortable tables. The service at times was very slow but otherwise the atmosphere was wonderful. The restaurant was quiet enough for six of us around a round table to carry on one conversation. The food was very good. The menu is entirely different than what was on line but what we did have was great. I had the Halibut and it was a beautifully presented and very delicious meal. My salad was also very nice. The bread was put on our plates but we had to ask for additional. Overall it was a wonderful evening. I would have liked to sit outside but it was a little cold and windy (although the patio heaters seemed to be working well.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAttentive but it was not overlyAttentive but it was not overly so... Food was good enjoyed the entrees more than the desserts. The atmosphere at the outside patio was exceptional.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMVery nice place which I haveVery nice place which I have been going for 30 years. The changes are great. Apparently frequented by older people who have money and time at lunch.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a lovely spot to dineWhat a lovely spot to dine outside with spring in the air. The service is top notch and the bread absolutely incredible. My gazpacho was intriguing with spices that defied my experience. Both my guest and I completely cleaned our plates and left fully satisfied with our choices.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMI will be going back oftenWhat a pleasant afternoon! Old Angler's has always been a beautiful spot. They menu they offer for brunch is superb . Many fine choices on the two-course prefix. And in my opinion, a great value too for this fine quality.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have loved Old Angler'sWe have loved Old Angler's Inn long before the very positive Washington Post article was deservedly written. It is always a pleasure to be there, with seasoned wait staff and a wonderful maître d' to make you feel at home!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMThe outdoor dining is theThe outdoor dining is the special feature - a beautiful 'Italian' garden with a fountain, different levels in the garden, wonderful location for a pre or post meal stroll along the River. Completely elegant without being pretentious.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAfter reading the review inAfter reading the review in the Washington Post magazine section, we decided to try the Old Angler's Inn and were very pleased. The food was delicious -- we had the cavatelli and gazpacho soup as appetizers which were both terrific; and as our entrees I had the halibut and my husband had the duo of scallops and rockfish. I loved the halibut, and my husband was happy with his choice as well. I also tried a half scallop which was done perfectly. We would definitely go back.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAfter a number of years absentAfter a number of years absent from this restaurant, the new look inside on the first floor is so much better than the dark dreary past. The food was exceptional and wait staff attentive. We will be back again and again!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely Evening, Excellent FoodWe spent a spectacular evening at the OAI on one of DC's first warm sunny days. Got there early, ate outside by the fountain (which hadn't been turned on yet). The food was equally spectacular. I had lentils w/ olives, artichokes, tomatoes and I think fennel -- excellent. My husband had scallops and smoked trout. We sat there for over two hours and loved every minute.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMNothing better than beingNothing better than being welcomed to a resturant like an old friend by the owner.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely - again! My husband and I frequent this restaurant for special occasions and often when we want to feel like we're on vacation close to home. We recently dined here for our 27th wedding anniversary and had another lovely dinner. Everything was delicious. For appetizers, my husband had the mussels and I had the arugula salad (both excellent). For entrees, I had the crispy trout (outstanding) and he had a steak dish (which he enjoyed). The apple strudel for dessert was divine.
My only reservation had to do with the fact that we ate outside and it was getting cold. I was hoping to see the wait staff more attentive to this and bring the heaters to us (or at least ask if we needed/wanted this).4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a tasty lunch in aWe had a tasty lunch in a beautiful setting. My only complaint was the outdoor stereo system--it should be replaced or put out of its misery!4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is an excellent restaurant! This is an excellent restaurant! The atmosphere is GREAT. The service and friendliness is as good as it gets. The food was prepared and served to perfection. The staff made my wife's birthday a memorable experience.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWe celebrated Easter at OldWe celebrated Easter at Old Angler's Inn - always such a relaxing yet energetic place.
The staff handled the big Easter crowd, unfortunately forced inside due to inclement weather, with its usual aplomb.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food but not good value,Good food but not good value, hence three stars. Too expensive for what is being served. Lunch, which is less expensive, is probably a better choice if you want to try this restaurant.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Easter Lunch at Old AnglersA wonderful Easter dinner. Terrific wait staff. Great food & wine. A marvelous day! Highly recommendable3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding and UniqueEvery visit to Old Angler's has been wonderful. Lovely, unique setting, excellent creative menu/food, service and ambiance. The GM, Luis, is a treasure - the best! All the thoughtful renovations, happy hour, and new events added over the past few years make this a favorite. Cheers!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMAn 1860's building and a great chefWe decided to return to this restaurant after an absence of many years and were well rewarded! We had heard that a new chef started a year ago and read the many wonderful diner reviews on Open Table. The food is fantastic. We started with the mushroom soup and goat cheese on crustini - both were delicious. My wife had the flounder and I had the duck - superb. The only oddity of the evening was that for a 7 pm Sat diner, they were already out of three dishes listed on the menu. The waiter said that they had sold a lot of the items at lunch time due to the nice weather. In any case, our DC friends were equally impressed by the dining experience, and we will all return soon!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMService was excellent - justService was excellent - just the right amount of attentiveness. Salads were a high note and the pork loin was one of the best we'd ever tasted. Overall, a great evening and loved the place.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMFANTASTIC experience. WonderfulFANTASTIC experience. Wonderful fire pit out front with a great bar menu. We went in yucky hiking clothes and sat outside but they weren't at all snooty towards us. We shared wine and a cheese platter and it was fantastic by the fire. A MUST DO after the Billy Goat trail! Will go back.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThe charm is back, the restaurantThe charm is back, the restaurant felt special in every way. Attention to details and service was outstanding. Everything we ate was well prepared and delicious - even the salads were specially prepared and extra nice. After briefly enjoying "happy hour" at the charming bar, we were escorted to our table which was lovely and cozy. We ordered fish dishes for dinner, they tasted very fresh and deliciously prepared. The sides were also extraordinary, the bread was excellent, nothing disappointed. Polite, romantic, well-served, an enjoyable experience and fun evening out.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and service,Excellent food and service, we will return soon.......3/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
