The nachos were very good, but the smoked salmon was way too salty. For dinner my son and I ordered the Delmonico steaks. I ordered a rare and my son ordered a medium rare, both were cooked perfectly and were nicely seasoned. My wife ordered the Misoyaki Butterfish and she loved it. She said next time she will ask for a little more of the sauce that comes with this dish. A dessert of chocolate cake, fresh strawberries and vanilla ice cream was complimentary with our meal. Good food, not unreasonably expensive, and great location. The appetizer that was too salty was the first dish that was not up to our standards in over six visits. Four of us were dining and three of us had the fresh island fish special. The fish was similar in texture to sword fish. I found mine dry. I did not provide feedback because I never trust the kitchen to respond without recrimination. The two other diners who are not as difficult to please were perfectly happy. Our fourth who only eats meat and potatoes said his chicken was "good." The view is stunning and you can actually sit at a table on the sand. The restaurant is quite expensive and I was expecting a higher quality based on reviews and the lovely setting. A local person warned me off. The setting is beautiful, after all, the restaurant is facing a beach. Torches are lit and you are ready for romance...but you must add amazing service and food. Our waiter, Christopher, was full of life, selling each item as it was the greatest thing ever...and they were. our table was next to a large party...so we asked if we could move our seating. Christopher literally lifted the table and carried it to the front of the beach for us! We were in shock at the care we received from him. And the food? Outstanding. The nachos with pork and the hummus were amazing.. My lobster tail was cooked to perfection. Desserts were fresh and flavorful. The food was, with one exception, very tasty, well presented and not too overpriced (for Hawaii).
The disappointments came in one of the desserts, and the service. While most of the desserts were incredible, the creme brulee was curdled and overcooked. When this was pointed out to the waiter, he took it away, but came back saying the kitchen did not want to do anything about it! Wow - for a simple $6 dessert, they could have replaced it, or done many other things and received a great review.

My new husband and I wanted to eat right on the beach for our first night here on our honeymoon, and we are so glad we chose Ola. Our server, Chris, was probably the best waiter we've both ever had. He was excited about the menu options, congratulated us on our honeymoon, and even gave us a free desert for the occasion. Watching the sun set while eating the deliciously prepared food was the perfect start to our trip. We also loved how knowledgable not only Chris, but the other waitstaff as well on great attractions to check out while visiting Oahu.
