  • "We had an Open Table reservation at 7:00pm. We were told when we checked in that they were just setting a table for us and it would be 5 or so minutes. Great! Well, we waited over 30 minutes and people that came in after us were seated before which was odd and we wondered if they had forgotten us. Not the case. Finally got a table, but the food wasn't that great and over priced so we truly after going three times will not be back."

  • "Very much enjoyed our evening! Food was excellent, but the restaurant was freezing."

  • "We love Okura's happy hour, it is probably the best one in the East Valley. Food is fresh and delicious. However, the service is always bad. The hostess literally yells "reservations??" at us as we were walking in the door. The waiter who usually takes care of us routinely forgets our drinks, and the food almost always comes all at once. This past time our food came in advance of our drinks, a requested second round of drinks forgotten all together. I recognize that happy hour isn't where they stick their best people, but we usually rack up a bill of $70-$90 on happy hour food and drinks, so we'd be tipping $15-$20 for great service. It's a shame. From now on I think we will sit at the bar, the female bartender is lovely and efficient."

  • "The whole family loved our flavorful meal. Good portion size, presentation and super fresh. We are in the desert for only a week and my kids want to make sure we go back before we leave. Great service and affordability ensure that we will be back."

  • "Food is consistently great service is always bad. Someone needs to teach the staff on how to properly pace out coming food orders. 2 people in our party ordered the "all you can eat" and it all seemed to come out at the same time crowding the table with way too many dishes . At the sametime no one was removing the empty plates or making room. instead they would come over and stair at us almost lAs if we should be removing the empty plates. observed this at several tables each vist. Great food."

  • "Great drinks and great food good service once he came to the table a little loud but loved the sushi"

  • "The important thing: our 3 orders of sashimi were fresh, generously-proportioned, and well-presented; as was our two orders of wakame and cucumber salads. Nice sake by the glass list. We ate well for a reasonable price, and the fish was very good. On the other hand: this is a strange place. The ambience is more "1970s Peppermill Casino" than sushi bar. It's very popular, and the large waitstaff is disorganized but friendly. Our 4th order of sashimi wasn't delivered, but there was plenty of food and we didn't miss it. We had no trouble taking it off the bill. The lighting is dark and it's a bit noisy. We'd go back."

  • "Okura restaurant in La Quinta has never been disappointing. It is our go-to place for a great sushi and other delights."

  • "Best Japanese food in the desert! We've never had a bad meal here. Weekends are jumping, so if you're looking for a quiet meal, weeknights are better. Sushi is superb."
    Dined on 3/21/2014
  • "Another great meal! I usually do the all-you-can-eat for $32.95, which includes a very large selection (albeit smaller portions). This is one of the best sushi, if not THE best, you can find in the desert."
    Dined on 3/17/2014
  • "I would be giving zero stars for service if I could. Made a reservation only to sit and stare at empty tables and spots at the sushi bar. I was told that people were late for their reservations....even though I was there at the time of my reservation. Food was ok. Sashimi offered generous portions but by our 8pm seating they were out of a lot of fish."

  • "We always make a stop at Okura's when we're in the desert for the tennis tourni, and it does not disapoint. Wonderful Happy Hour and don't miss the salmon skewers!"

  • "Exceptional quality fish! The majority of our orders are sashimi! Fresh, melt in your mouth, close your eyes experience! Everyone there is friendly and helpful and wanting to fulfill your every want! I have the opportunity to hit this lovely restaurant in March for the past 5 years... in town for 3 days... and I wine and dine at Okura all 3 evenings! And I look forward to it next year!"

  • "Went to this place because of positive reviews by others. Loved the food and atmosphere. We loved the crunch roll, spicy tuna roll, tempera tuna roll and the tuna and salmon sushi. Definitely will go back"

  • "My wife and I have dinned here many times. They have an exotic sushi menu and more. My favorite part is the all you can eat because it is so much more than just rolls and sushi. For example, Kobe beef carpaccio and Serrano himatchi carpaccio are just couple of the many options avaliable in the all you can eat menu. Service for the most part is really good especially once you place your order. With that all being said, my wife and I were a little disappointed for the first time. It seemed as though they added more rice with a little less fish. Quality was not as good as what we have been used to at okura. Could of been an off night for them. All in all still one of my favorites."

  • "We enjoyed a very nice dinner and beautifully presented food at Okura which is consistant with our previous experiences here. We came with another couple visiting from out of town and they enjoyed it very much. The restaurant was packed, with a line almost out the door when we arrived for our reservation. Okura seated us immediately and on time which we greatly appreciated given the crowd waiting to get in. Only compaint is that I asked for real crab on my roll and got the immitation stuff."

  • "Our service with our waitress was excellent food as always delicious One thing that really upset me was that I even called in to make sure I did the reservation correct through online and I specifically said I would be needing a booth for my wife my daughter and I We get there and they sit us in the middle table I then said what's going on I specifically said I wanted a booth not a table in the middle of everyone all the hostess did was nod her shoulders like saying that's all we have!"

  • "I didn't expect the restaurant to be busy as I booked on Open Table and my first choice time-slot was available. I couldn't have been more wrong. The number of walk-ins was amazing. After waiting in line for several minutes, we (2 of us) were seated at one of their counter-height tables. The wait-staff service was very efficient and friendly. We had sushi and sashimi with the edamame and cold spinach with sesame dressing. Everything was fresh and flavorful. Booking in advance was our best decision!"

  • "Binto box was very very good. Also special caterpillar tool, miso soup and sushi. Sushi is more expensive, but portions were good, fresh"

  • "Everything edible was delightful and delicious. Service sadly was slow and lacking in attention, but we wll definately return. Maybe the Sushi Bar seating received better attention?"

  • "Excellent service and food. Never been disapointed at Okura."

  • "The service was friendly and helpful. With open tables the hostess seated us next to noisy fellow that was trying hard to impress his fellow diner. Rather blew the good food and service. Hard to hear each other over his long and loud monologue. The first experience was a cool, hip spot with good food. It has slipped. My advice go back to the beginning."

  • "WE LIKE TO GO TO OKURA ON SUNDAY BECAUSE NOT TOO BUST LIKE ON FRIDAY OR SATURDAY NIGHT FOOD AND SERVICE ALWAY VERY GOOD HERE"
    Dined on 1/12/2014
  • "The grade of Sushi you get at Okura is top of the line - even for their all-you-can-eat. The all you can eat menu has a huge variety of rolls, salads, sashimi and other items. While Okura offers more than just Sushi, that is the main reason I go and so I can only really comment on that - which I would say is as good as it gets here in the desert!"

  • "food and service was out standing best sushi place in the valley"
    Dined on 1/5/2014
  • "We have been here about 6 times previous to this visit. There were 4 of us on this visit, usually it is just two of us. Food is very good. Some of the dishes seems expensive for their size, on the other hand, they are very good quality - e.g. the tuna carpaccio - small, but excellent. But the bill is never unreasonable at the end, and we are satisfied. We have yet to try the 'all you can eat' sushi special yet, which seems to work better with a group of at least 4 people, but have seen the great long planks of sushi being served to those tables, and it looks very appetizing and the people appear to be having a great time - that seems to be the way to go if you are hungry for sushi."

  • "Seated promptly. Initial attention from wait staff good. Ordered edemame as appetizer but after asking where was it twice and being told "we're having kitchen issues tonight" it came last so we ate the bland overcook beans as dessert. Gyozas uneatable as they were in a firey sause that was not mentioned on the menu (I re-checked). Salmon in salmon skin roll was pre-cooked and was dry and hard as fish jerky. Robata grilled chicken small, while "giant" oyster was 2 small, 1 quarter size and the other half dollar size. Flavorful but hardly giant. Have had all these items before with no problems. It'll be tough returning now."

  • "Our family of four loves the food at Robata as there is something for everyone above the standard Sushi restaurant. Once again we had marginal service as evidenced by my need to ask three times about our garlic soy edamame appetizer. The older gentleman in the blue Okura shirt (I'm guessing manager) took our drink and appetizer order but apparently never passed that information on to our server. Our poor server than had to do some damage control over our long wait. It seems as if the kitchen (not the sushi chefs but the hot kitchen) was backed up. Once the food arrived it was delicious as usual."

  • "Excellent food and service even though it was packed. Honored our reservation the minute we walked in even though there was probably 20 people waiting for tables."

  • "Very pleasant evening. Seated within 5 min. Hostess was a bit distracted and we had to remind her we were waiting- but were then seated Had a table in the bar which was fun. Enjoyed the happy hour menu and prices. Food was very good as was service. Would definitely return."

  • "We have had dinner here in the past but last night was a big disappointment. We started with gyoza's that were overcooked. The rolls were ok but not their best. Only thing I can think of was that they had a different chef."
