Diner Reviews
  • "We took friends and were unable to talk to them. It was just too loud."

  • "We did not eat at this resturant since we wanted to have Hiabchi at lunch and they only do that at dinner."
    Dined on 4/3/2014
  • "We love sushi and have a high standard for it. We ordered a couple rolls and pan fried noodles. All of the food was good and we would return. Seating was comfortable and ambiance was great. We would recommend this to others."

  • "It is often difficult to find quality Asian food when we travel. OKKO turned out to be a spectacular experience! We were a little surprised to find such a high end restaurant tucked away in a corner of a retail strip center with SAMS club and BiLo Grocery. But don't let that deter you. The interior of this restaurant is fabulous -- modern and trendy like something you would find in New York or LA. Sushi was seriously delicious and beautiful. Food was perfect. Hope to visit again in the summer. What a great find in Hilton Head!"

  • "Adequate spot for Asian food . Menu mostly run of the mill but were able to work with manager for an upgrade in sushi and other dishes"

  • "I had the Hibachi steak dinner, which included vegetable, rice, soup and salad. Wife had the chinese chicken, rice and vegetable plate. Both dishes were served piping hot which is a big plus in my book. The steak was very good (about half of a ny strip cut up) and two jumbo shrimps came with it as part of the Hibachi plate. Our only regret was not ordering one of their signature sushi rolls. Next time we will visit Steve at the bar and do that. The lighting was dark with colorful back-lit fixtures, and sleek straight line tables and chairs, with the focus being on the food. Also, our main server was very patient with us in explaining and helping us make our selections from the myriad of choices available. We left the place happy and full."

  • "8:15 reservation with 2 kids. Were told 15 minutes when we checked in at 8:10. We left at 9:00 without being seated. Hostesses were friendly but clearing out of their depth estimating times. Especially when the manager over books the restaurant. Manager did not apologize to any of the 4 groups waiting. Some had 8:00 reservations. Never offered a drink, let alone a comped drink which is standard for this kind of mess. No follow-up call or e-mail. Had take out earlier in the week and food was very good. Front of the house is a disaster and will sink this place if they don't get it straightened out. Manager needs to be handling the customers and not running food from the kitchen."

  • "This was our first time at OKKO and we were very pleased with the food, service, ambiance and our chef. Will definitely go back!"

  • "We arrived to a line at 7 PM. We had to wait 40 minutes for our table. Two groups who also had reservations left. Two other groups said that this was the second time it had happened to them. Evidently OKKO is overbooking. We were not offered appetizers, a drink or anything. We are regulars and may have to consider going elsewhere."

  • "Second time there alway seems busy. Make a reservation on Open Table before really help with the not having to wait. Always got our table quick and made reservation that same day."

  • "Hostess and wait staff smiling, pleasant , energetic, willing to please and satisfy. Food is always spectacular in presentation, and flavor is extraordinary, fast service but they do not rush you. Drinks are excellent but a bit pricey. It may look and feel like a NY bar and restaurant but it's Hilton Head!"

  • "Having lived in Philadelphia for 18 years, my wife and I were pretty used to trendy and tasty restaurants. Based upon what's around in HH one would definitely not expected to see a place like Okko, but this place really rocked. The ambiance was very trendy, the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable, but the quality of the sushi rolls was unprecedented. The rolls were huge and the freshness of the fish was stunning. If you're into sushi, then this is THE place in HH. Enjoy!"

  • "May have chosen the wrong items, but basically portions were very small with a lot of kale and rice."

  • "Valentine's Day. A very busy evening. Even so, the manager was very helpful and was all around the restaurant constantly, even dropping off a small flashlight as he saw me holding my menu to catch light from behind me. We sat in the dinning room and ordered off the Hibachi menu as we were unable to get seating at a grill. Not a problem, the food was still hot and just as good as any I have had when seated at the grill. My wife had Steak and Shrimp and I had Ribeye and Scallops. Both very good. Fried rice was excellent and veggies were tasty. The soup and salad that comes with was also great. We ordered an egg roll appetizer that unfortunately came out with the soup and salad and was just okay. Enjoyable. Will definately return."

  • "The food is delicious and the portions are generous. I had enough left to have dinner at home the next night. They have Thai, Chinese, Japanese steak house room, hibachi items. as well as lots of Sushi."

  • "We were a party of 9 and did not want a hibachi table, so the gave us our own room. We all ordered different things - sushi, hibachi, Thai, and Chinese. It was all good and everyone had a good time."

  • "OKKO is one of our favorites. Certainly the best pan Asian (Japanese, Chinese, Thai) in the area. Great sushi bar and hibachi room for families and big groups."

  • "Food was very good. Hot and the presentation was excellent. If you like Asian food, this is the best on Hilton Head Island."

  • "We had a group of nine celebrating our daughter's birthday. Tommy was our hibachi chef and he was excellent! Very personable and really went out of his way to make sure the kids had a fun time. The food was excellent and everyone was happy with their dishes. We did various Hibachi combinations and it was all good - steak & chicken, steak & scallops, shrimp and noodle lovers. The portion sizes are good and several people went home with doggie bags. The restaurant also offers sushi and Thai dishes. We'll try those next time around."

  • "This restaurant is in our top 5 on Hilton Head. The interior decor is out of New York or LA-very trendy. But, the real treasure is the food. We believe it is some of the finest Asian food that we have enjoyed. The dishes are interesting, delicious and very we'll presented. Overall, a great dining experience!"

  • "Despite being a busy night, service was very good. Mai tai at the bar was superb! As it was just the two of us, we chose the comraderie of the hibachi table for our New Years Eve dinner and enjoyed sharing the "show" and spirited chatter with the other diners. I had the bolgoki and my husband had the fillet/scallop combo. Food was excellent but we were disappointed they had run out of the ribeye. BTW the hibachi table is a great way to dine with well-behaved children, who love watching the antics of the chef and have lots of child-friendly food items to choose from. This was our second visit to Okko since moving to Hilton Head and I'm sure we will return!"

  • "Food was good, we all ordered habachi dinners and received the salad and soup. I would rate those more than below average. The salads were in a 4 inch diameter cup and contained lettuce and 1 cherry tomato with a drizzle of dressing. The soup was miso and had zero flavor. When you are finished with your soup and salad it leaves no place for you to put your silverware, (no place mats, no side plates), hence everyone (you and the people before you) put the used silverware directly on the table. Also, when the waiter poured more water he touched each glass with the pitcher. The worst part of the experience was that only 3 dishes came out at the same time and we had to wait at least an additional 5-7 minutes for the 4th dish."

  • "OKKO is tucked away in a neighborhood strip mall. Inside, decor is modern and food was excellent. We had sushi and Thai dishes. Salmon with green curry, an excellent roll, and a stacked seafood appetizer. The combination of ingredients was interesting and delicious. There was a separate room with the hibachi tables...you must have to request to be there but we were glad we were not. The fried ice cream for dessert was the only disappointment."

  • "We went to OKKO twice; my wife and I went for lunch and then our family of 8 went for their hibachi dinner. We ate delicious sushi for lunch. For dinner, we had the hibachi dinner, a thai dish, and 3 sushi dishes. All were very good and the hibachi chef was a great performer who really played to the two younger members of our party."

  • "We've always gone to another Hibatchi place on the island but friends suggested Okko. So glad they did-we loved it and so did our kids. A really fun place with Hibatchi show and the food actually tastes very good. Very attentive staff/manager/owner. We can't wait to go back. The other half of the restaurant is quieter than the Hibatchi side, if you want a quiet evening with sushi, etc. Very nice place."

  • "Smart modern contemporary decor with a wide range of sushi, sashimi, hibachi and Thai dishes. Very good by any standard in any city."

  • "This was our first time at OKKO and it couldn't have been better. The decor was relaxing and beautiful, service was excellent and friendly, and the food was off the charts. I had the Packer roll (named after the Green Bay Packers because of the 'green and yellow'colors covering the top - half mango/half avocado, and stuffed with soft shell crab and eel. Probably the best I've ever had. I worked for a major Japanese company for 20 years and during that time, I had plenty of sushi, and we still go out for sushi on a regular basis at home. To date, the only place that's come close is Ambrosia in Key West. Don't miss out on this gem!"

  • "I usually have to be in the mood for Asian food. If it is not good I never go back. Has Japanese, Chinese and Thai, lots of choices. We arrived early..it was a week night, but got noisier as it got more crowded. We were seated all in the same spot, (due to limited help?), even though the restaurant is quite large. Food was good...at our table, there was one of every nationality. I had Pad Thai...very good, but not the best I have ever eaten. Word of advice, if you like hot & spicy, beware. My friend does and ordered it spicy.....but it was so hot she could not eat it. Pricing was moderate, so fairly good value...waiter made a mistake on the check, ($7 more than it should have been) but corrected it immediately...good thing we always check."

  • "I feel like this restaurant was lifted out of Manhattan and placed here in Hilton head for our pleasure. The finishing a on decor on both interior and exterior is outstanding, the food and service fabulous. Noise level is a bit high to have intimate chats, have been here several times before and will continue to go."

  • "I recently spent 5 years working in Japan and came to appreciate quality over quantity in meal. The Gyoza appetizer was well prepared and tasty. My wife ordered the Bento and I had the Perfect Nubouro as our entres and both took us back to our days in Tokyo eating at some of the finest sushi restaurants in the world. The service was great and the waiter knew his cold sakes."

  • "A bastion of high energy metropolitan sushi in low country. The selection of food and drink was broad and our sushi was marvelous in speed, presentation and of course taste. We have added OKKO to our list of have-to's when we visit, and we come two to three weeks a year."

  • "I was there with a group of ladies for a tennis championship and made a reservation late the night before hoping they would be able to accommodate a group of 12. Well, what a pleasant surprise when they had a private room all set up for us. The waiter was extremely friendly and knowledgeable and the food was excellent!"

  • "OKKO is an easy place to go wether you are a party of 2 or a party of 12! They do have a couple of private rooms for large groups."

  • "We had a small private room which was perfect for our party of 5. The server helped us with the large menu. The food was excellent."

  • "Finally a COOL Hilton Head restaurant! It felt very Miami or NYC in this place, minus the attitude! Service was great, food was good, ambience was great. I'll be back."

  • "We had our best night of vacation there. We had 4 kids and 7 adults and sat at the habachi table. JACK was the BEST HABACHI CHEF ever. He was funny, warm, welcoming, perfect with the kids (Learned all their names early on and used them thoughout the dinner) We laughed, the kids had an amazing time and overall our experience was exceptional. (I was happy and relieved as it was my idea and its always nervewracking suggesting a place for that many folks!) So thanks for making me look good! If you are in Hilton Head w/ Kids (or without as sushi/dining side is really nice too) i would suggest giong there!"
