Okeechobee SteakhouseOkeechobee S.H. - Better Than Ever!John was our waiter and he was friendly & knowledgeable. He recommended the shrimp appetizer: Extra large shrimp wrapped in bacon each sitting on a thin slice of bruschetta bread with a garlic/maple sauce..truly wonderful! The Gorgonzola salad was fantastic as usual and our N.Y. Strips were perfect with the best Au Poive sauce I've ever had. We also had the asparagus with Bearnaise...WOW! John recommended the Ferrari-Carrano Cabernet, and it was perfect for our steaks. We ended with Chateau St. Michelle Riesling and coconut cream pie. We can't wait to come back again.

For a Friday night, it was very quiet at 6 pm, almost too quiet, and though the steaks are expensive, the bar prices are comparable to other local spots. She said it was the best she ever had. I had the calamari and it was not only very tasty but very tender. Our salads were fresh, crisp and delicious. When our steaks came I said how am I ever going to eat all that (but I did). The steaks were cooked perfectly as ordered and delicious.

We made it that ealy because we had show tickets and wanted to take advanage of the smaller portions on the early bird menu. We were disapoined when our very professional waiter told us it wad changed from 6PM to you must order by 5:30.
Other people would have made a stink but we wanted to have a nice night so we ordered off the regular menu and took food home.
A more acomading resturant would have honored the early bird at 5:30
